I used to come here when I was attending school in Evanston and it was one of my favorite coffee shops. If you’re a coffee lover like me, this should be on your list. Here’s why: 1. Smells delicious — reminds me of a bakery. The beverages are prepared by enthusiastic and friendly employees. And they always add more whipped cream than Starbucks does(unless, of course, you request no whip). 2. There are two long tables where you can use your comp/do work. It can be rather crowded, especially during the week. Nevertheless, it’s a fantastic hang-out spot for all types of people. They also sell some cute merchandise. 3. It’s located in downtown Evanston and right next to Whole Foods if you need to get your shopping done.

Wow– worst customer service experience of my life. No greeting, no thank-you, no you’re welcome. Even after attempting to engage with the cashier– no response. Yes– it is 6:30 in the morning, but you work at a coffee shop. I regularly bring my students here and have meetings with other faculty. Not anymore.

We were in the area for a Cubs/Cardinals game and decided to walk the neighborhood. I am always on the look out for new non-chain coffee houses and bakeries and this one was not too far. It wasn’t too crowded though most of the tables were taken by singles with newspapers or laptops. No one likes to share these days! The aroma was nice so I had high hopes. I ordered a house blend(Coffee of the Day?) and my wife a Chai. It didn’t take too long to get it and so we sat down to enjoy it and chat. This didn’t last too long as neither the chai nor the coffee won us over. I quickly finished my coffee(I can drink almost anything after being in the service) while my wife left her Chai alone. With so many choices these days I don’t think I will be back at Peet’s anytime soon. There in one in St Louis that I had a much better experience at but that is for another review…

I love Peet’s! This location especially! The baristas are beyond nice and willing to talk with you instead of rushing right onto the next person.

Came back today for the first time in a while and loved it! Amazing cappuccino, cozy vibe, and friendly people(employees AND customers). I’ll definitely be back soon.

I have never tried Peet’s coffee until recently. They sent me a coupon for a free coffee and so I went… This place is wonderful. It’s cozy, quiet and the staff are quite friendly. There is easy parking outside and the coffee is wonderful. Definitely recommend if you are in the Evanston area

The coffee shop is nice, but the service was terrible. I ordered a simple cup of coffee. The cashier took my money and then served 4 more customers without giving me any coffee. When I finally asked, she told me the guy grinding beans would get it for me. Nope, he sent me back to her. Finally she poured my coffee, which was the luke-warm dregs of a near-empty pot. Disgusting. So I waited for a new pot to be brewed. I totally don’t mind waiting for coffee to brew, but why didn’t she just start brewing it in the first place instead of essentially ignoring me??? Not impressed.

My place of choice in Evanston for a latte drink. Also great for some work or conversations. I love the current fall drinks: Mayan mocha and pumpkin latte. You can’t go wrong. I don’t come here for my black coffee fixes, but I’m sure that’s good, too.

Cool Coffee joint created by one of the creators of Starbucks. Sort of the same type of drink Choices although it is a lil more handcrafted and less franchised unlike Starbucks

I really am beginning to be a Peet’s nut. I’m more of a small roaster, local coffee connoisseur but Peet’s has done a tremendous job with their espresso and baked goods. Better yet, the staff is always friendly. I was especially pleased with my drink and the barista took the time to tell me what they’re trained to do to make the espresso taste so good. They have a nice balance between quick and friendly. The location is great in downtown Evanston. There is plenty of the study crowd as well as local professionals getting their caffinne.

From their coffees to their teas, I prefer Peet’s over Starbuck’s any day. They have roomy interior for enjoying your beverage and there are a couple of benches outside for basking in the sunshine. They offer free Wi-fi as expected My favorite is the Macha green tea lattes!

They have really good coffee, but the service is not the best at times. The lady at the register asked for my name to put on the order, but the barrista only said the name of the drink, and so a customer who was behind me in line took it and dashed off even though she ordered something else. I ended up with her drink and told the barrista what happened, he sarcastically offered to make me a new one then laughed with the other barrista. So I said no, and took the drink that I didn’t order, and they laughed even more… Thanks Peet’s, your employees are the best…

Peet’s did a flakey follow-up-ish. I did everything they asked me to do, in the comment they left, and they told me to anticipate a call back to chat about the issue. Never happened. So, Peet’s, I’m done. You guys were once so solid.

Peet’s is my usual go-to coffee shop if I haven’t had my daily cup of caffeinated goodness. I walk to campus on most days, and during the colder months, it’s always great being able to duck into Peet’s and grab a piping hot beverage to enjoy as I continue to walk to class. The coffee here is consistently refreshing, and the espresso is great as well, though a little on the stronger side(in my opinion). The matcha latte is also delicious, although I tend to ask for one pump of sweetener rather than the usual three or so. As for baked goods(10% off with Wildcard!), I’ve only had the almond croissant, which is heavenly and often visits me in my dreams. The best part about Peet’s is the customer service. There have been times where the wait time is extremely long and/or another customer accidentally walked off with my drink, but during each mishap, I’ve been presented with a free drink voucher for my next visit. During another visit, the barista started chatting with me and ended up giving me a free latte(with a complimentary extra shot) once he heard it was finals week. Honestly, I haven’t had a grumpy barista take my order even once, so I love how friendly and cheerful the staff can be. :) Cons — Peet’s tends to be on the crowded side any time of the day, so the wifi can be a little shaky. On that same note, the wait time for your beverage can be on the longer side, but the baristas really do take the time to make your drink just the way you like it. :)

My husband and I have been to this Peet’s a couple times recently and I must say, it’s not that impressive. The first time we went the line was so long that they forgot to make my drink. It took about 15 minutes to receive it. The baristas were apologetic and gave us a card for a free drink, which was nice… But the day I went to redeem it, the chai latte I ordered was cold. I actually saw the barista pouring COLD soy milk into my HOT latte. The latte took at least 5 minutes to get, and there were people in line, so I didn’t bother asking for a new one. As a former barista, I understand little mistakes and the stress of pleasing everyone, but I still don’t know if I’d waste my time coming back. Next time I want a latte in Downtown Evanston, I’ll likely just go to Starbucks on Sherman or try Kafein or Unicorn Café if I want something different.

The coffee is always rich and it makes you feel divine. With my wildcard I get a dollar off their pastries. Their almond croissants and banana bread are so plump and satisfying. I love studying at Peets, because it’s pretty quiet and serene. I also like to meet up with people at this café for catching up or just spending some quality time.

good coffee here, great wifi, however why have a café counter if the employees never check on you. You have to get up and leave your belongings to go to the register to order, order it to go, and return to your seat. Next time put in comfy couches and lounge it up if you aren’t going to «serve» coffee at the counter.

I was here this morning for brunch with a friend, and I ordered a loose leaf black tea and an almond croissant. The ordering process was a little chaotic, it was difficult to find a seat, and I almost missed my tea when it came out because they called«English Breakfast Blend» instead of «black tea,» and I had no idea that it was mine. The tea, however, was very well presented and quite delicious, and the almond croissant was quite good as well — I had my initial reservations because it was very, very crunchy on the outside, but the inside was still soft and it contained the perfect amount of filling.

Another coffee spot near the Northwestern U campus with lots of seating options — that are always almost full(seriously, there should be at least another 3 or 4 coffee houses in Evanston to handle the demand this area pulls). I like the seating and design of this place, so despite some problems with service, I have returned a couple of times. But, those problems … I’ve only ever ordered the Chai Latte here, a couple of times, and it has tasted completely different EVERY time. Is there no recipe for this thing? Am I ordering it wrong? Not sure what’s up, but sometimes it tastes sugared and syruped(like it should!!!), and sometimes it tastes like regular old Chai with a splash of milk(watery). Not a fan of the inconsistency here, baristas! Also, the staff seems rushed, overworked, distracted, kinda grumpy and annoyed at all times. All of them — whether or not there are customers at the counter. Is it that lack of recipes? Do they need more training? Who knows, but these issues bring Peet’s to a very average 3-star rating. :/ Oh, and the wifi was painfully slow during today’s visit. :(You can do better Peet’s!
