Great food and service! We squeaked this dinner in before a show at SPACE, and they were quick and the food was elegantly presented and delicious. Lamb sausage pizza was top notch. Burrata and cauliflower kale apps were excellent. Beer’s good. Mushroom pizza was least fave aspect, because I missed the red sauce.

The lamb sausage pizza($ 17) was delicious but pricey and on the small size. This is not a place where you will see a huge selection of craft beer on tap, but you will probably find one or two that will suffice. There is a door through the back to a music venue called Space that offers an intimate setting to see a show. Union is a very convenient place to eat high quality well prepared food or before a seeing a show at Space, but don’t go here if you are looking to save money.

Dou: Shiw and Dou here! Today we’re reviewing Union Pizzeria. Shiw: We’ve walked by this place a ton on the way to Trader Joe’s, and from the outside the place always looked very cozy/trendy. For some reason we just never went in, but always thought it would be great for date nights or get-togethers. Dou: So we ended up getting the Lamb Pizza, the Grilled Octopus, and the Tuscan Kale & Cauliflower. I think one pizza and 2 small plates was the right amount for two people… well, the two of us anyways Shiw: Do you think we eat more or less than the average couple? Dou: I don’t want to think about that… Shiw: Lol. So everything was great! The two sides were fantastic. We especially liked the Octopus — just the right amount of char on the outside, and nice and soft on the inside. We almost ordered a second one it was so good. Dou: The pizza was really nice too. The lamb was tender, and the olives were incredible. Not overpowering or too salty, but just the right amount of that that olive-y zing. Awesome stuff. Shiw: Eh I thought the lamb was a bit on the salty side… Dou: Psh, you say that about everything though… Shiw: All in all, a great place. Would definitely go again and try other stuff on their menu! Until next time, and thanks for reading!

The food here is great — fresh and delicious. Sort of pizzeria meets gastro pub. Interesting cocktails, and a reasonable beer list(although only a couple of the beers are on tap). They do not take reservations, so expect to wait unless you arrive early. Our server was very attentive, and the appetizers came quickly. Although we were there early(5:30 arrival on a Saturday), there was a very long wait between the apps and our main course, and we ended up needing to rush eating our main course because we had to be out of there by 7:00. Seems like a kitchen issue. I can’t help but think that the kitchen falls further behind as the night progresses. With the crowds waiting to get in building up, you’d think they’d move the kitchen along.

I’ve been here a few times and have always had a great experience. I enjoy the relaxed, casual ambiance, although it can get a little noisy. The prosciutto & arugula pizza is delicious and if you really want to indulge, get the chocolate bread pudding! Outstanding.

I have heard great things about this restaurant and was rather disappointed when I arrived. I understand their lack of need for reservations since they are very busy, but their food deployment was definitely not acceptable. For a restaurant that has two kitchens, and has been in business for many years, they should be able to get the delivery of food to the table better. Even though we were in the restaurant at 5:00, the place was very busy. We were seated back by the bathroom and the wall of wine/beer, so it was a very active walkway. We had to wait to get our drink orders in. When we did place the order, our beverages arrived rather quickly. The salads were delivered and within a minute, the main course was delivered. We were informed that there are two separate kitchens, which, obviously do not communicate with each other. The server asked if she should hold the meals to keep them warm, but that would just add more heat to the plates and affect the salmon and pizza. The kale and brussels sprout salad was good, as well as the salmon(hence the two stars). The pizza was also good. The other negative was my son told the hostess it was my birthday dinner. They did not communicate anything to the server. The dessert menu was not that special and we went to another location to have dessert, but the server should have been informed of a special occasion. For the price of the meal, I expected much better. We will not be returning for any occasion.

Had a margarita and Tempranillo. I lacked some oregano but it tasted authentic. Nice mozzarella and fresh oregano leaves above. But an hour and a half before the snow in Space, it was crowded so we sat at the bar which was fine. But crowded still. Atmosphere is good.

This place was FANTASTIC! The Pizza was awesome– we tried the Brussel Sprouts & Prosciutto plus the sweet pepper and sausage. Both were perfectly balanced and perfectly cooked. The portions were awesome too — we easily split two pizzas and a caesar salad between three of us with leftovers to go. The chocolate bread pudding was HEAVENLY. Service was A+++. Our server, Allison, was attentive, polite, perfect amount of friendly and super helpful in picking out what to order. She, in combination with the fabulous food, made our experience unforgettable.

We stopped in early Thursday early evening after a bunch of shopping. The place was empty but we were hungry from missing lunch and decided to have an early dinner. We were interested in seeing that there is a music venue behind the restaurant called«Space». Looks like some nice talent plays there. We were on the wagon that night so we passed on some of the interesting craft beers and cocktails available. Have to say that the menu is interesting although for the portion sizes served the prices are rather steep, even for the pizza. The meatball appetizer was delicious but two medium sized meatballs for nine dollars is outrageous. This is not white tablecloth dining — think they could at least make them a tad smaller and give you three or four so you don’t think you’re being ripped off so much. The warm octopus appetizer reminded me very much of the extremely small portion at Cibo Trattoria in Glencoe. There were maybe five thin tentacles here each no more than 2 inches long and a couple of tiny fingerling potatoes, maybe two olives — I think that cost $ 12 or more. It had good flavor but again absolutely no value. My better half really wanted to get a basic pizza to see if they could get that right so we ordered the sausage. It was tasty but nothing out of the ordinary. A solid Neapolitan style fluffy crust, standard tasting Italian sausage and decent sauce and cheese. Again solid effort but not mind blowing by any means. Saw a few of the salads being delivered to the table next door and although they looked good I just can’t go back here and feel comfortable given the pricing. Even Sienna Tavern in the city gives you more interesting food and better portions for these prices!

Union Pizzeria has been on my list for quite some time and I finally had the chance to try it out on the same night we had a concert to attend at SPACE. Loved the ambience of this place — «minimalist chic» — is that what the kids say these days? :) While the Belgian beer I chose was not available on draft, the server was able to recommend a more than ample version of one that they do serve on tap. I must have enjoyed it so much that I had four of them throughout the evening; it was a nice way to carb load, let me tell you. Of course we had to order Burrata and given that I had a rough day at work, my dear husband was kind enough to let me choose the pizza — white anchovies puttanesca! Sure, he scraped all the anchovies on his slices but I relished every salty morsel! I was also dying to have the brownie dessert I eyed from the next table but I knew that I would have more beer throughout the concert so I somehow managed to exercise some self control! We will definitely be back… concert or not!

Tasty food and stylish(though noisy) ambiance. I have been here several times and am never disappointed. There are several tasty menu items that are either already vegan or can be adapted to be. I actually like the starters and salads better than the pizzas! The pizzas are good too, but they are strangely picky about not adding things to them. You can leave things off, but if you want to add things like mushrooms, they bring you a bowl of mushrooms to do it yourself. I am currently trying to view this as being quirky rather than annoying. This restaurant is also good for kids, assuming you go at a reasonable time without too long of a wait.

I went to Union a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it. I had the calamari and we got a bottle of wine. Both were great! Plus our waitress Sydney was amazing from beginning to end. I tend to be super indecisive and take forever to order at restaurants, and she was so patient haha I’ll be going back to try the pizza

A friend decided to celebrate her birthday here so we visited on a weeknight. We got the meatballs and bruschetta as appetizers and then split 4 pizzas(among 6 people): the lamb sausage, prosciutto and arugula, margherita, and the special pizza of the week. The appetizers were much smaller than we expected; we each got a small bite of the meatballs and bruschetta. My favorite pizzas were the lamb sausage and the margherita. The lamb sausage had the perfect amount of salt and didn’t taste gamey at all, while the margherita tasted nicely of basil and was very simple. I didn’t really care for the prosciutto pizza at all – the prosciutto to pizza ratio was a bit too small. Overall, the vibe is great in the restaurant, but the portions are a bit small for what you pay.

I’ve been to Union twice in the few weeks after a bit of a hiatus, and am happy to report that I love it as much now as I did then. Some thoughts: The bar and waiting area are large and can accommodate a lot of people on a busy evening The hosts and bar staff are always happy and polite despite how harried their jobs are The wine list is just right The cocktails are wonderful The pizzas are consistently good and never fail to delight The lamb meatballs are manna from heaven Every time I go to Union I stare incessantly at the light fixtures and wish I had them in my house The calamari with potatoes and olives is nirvana The chocolate bread pudding deserves a nobel prize in desserts Okay, so the only thing I really, really, really dislike about Union is HOWLOUDITIS. ITISSERIOUSLYLOUDINTHERE. Other people might not mind, but I’m fairly sound-sensitive, and have a hard time focusing because IT’S SOLOUD. I doubt there’s much they can do about it, because it’s an enormous space with few soft surfaces. It’s only costing them one star in this review, and if you don’t mind noise, you can consider this a five star review.

This was my first time trying Union Pizzeria. I called to order the Spinach and Ricotta pizza to-go and asked if they could do a simple substitution(chicken instead of sausage). Apparently they can do deletions but not additions. That was a bummer, but hey, that’s their policy, that’s fine. When I arrived to the restaurant, I asked if they had any parmesan packets to-go. I guess that’s another policy they have: no to-go toppings. We got home and opened the box to find a maybe 8″ inch pizza… for $ 17…8″ thin crust pizza. Now the pizza itself was alright. It was wood-fired with a crispy, proportionally oily crust, huge dollops of ricotta, and a slightly spicy sausage. However, the crust dominated most of the pizza so the actual toppings only covered 65% of the 8″ pizza. To sum, the pizza was good(not the best but more gourmet then the typical chain joint) but I am still hungry. Will I ever go back? That’s a definitive no. Not worth the price!

I have been going here since college, and I love it here. They have a fantastic wine list, and their food is superb. The restaurant is also gorgeous – I love the industrial, romantic ambiance. It’s the kind of place you can go to for any reason: a date, catching up with a friend, to sit at the bar. There’s nothing not to like. On a recent trip with my husband and mother in law, we all shared: — white bean bruschetta(amazing) — lamb sausage pizza(awesome) — shrimp and grits(so, so good) — brussels sprouts salad(also amazing It’s hard to think of anything bad about that meal, other than the fact we had to wait ~40 minutes to sit down(NBD when you have a glass of wine, though). If you’re in the neighborhood, this is a great option for dinner. We will be back, many times, in the years to come.

Came here at 5.30pm on a weekday — I’d say that’s the best time to come! Wasn’t crowded at all as opposed to when I first came here on a Friday night, where my friends and I had to wait for an hour that we ended up eating elsewhere. Definitely get the Burrata! it had a nice touch of basil leaf garnish along with slices of mandarin oranges and sprinkles of hazelnut. or maybe I mixed the nut addition with the brussel sprout salad dish we got as well. The salad was fresh and flavorful. Though these were small plates the portions were pretty generous, and I shared these with another friend. We also ordered the octopus — I’d pass on this next time. nothing special. We ended dinner with chocolate bread pudding which was delicious! But I felt the pastry could’ve been warmer. That would’ve hit the spot. Would come back again to try more dishes! Perhaps a pizza next time.
