I’m not impress. Food was ok, found a piece of metal brush in my sandwich. The service was non-existent. never coming back.

I was looking for a gathering place before graduation for my guests to assemble, visit and eat before heading to Xfinity Arena. I let Gil know my event, what we like and it was exactly what we received and more. The food was delicious, oh my goodness the smells!!! Gil and his son took great care of my party. I 100% recommend Depot Café & Smokehouse for small gatherings and just to eat. I know we will be back. Thanks again, Gil, you made this leg of graduation a breeze and fun. Thank you, you will see us again.

Good place, definitely has great potential but I can only rate the plate that I had. It was just OK. I would go back if I was in town again. That should tell you something. I ordered the ribs, chicken, sausage plate. The potato salad and coleslaw sides were awesome. Both were reminiscent of a home picnic. The ribs were literally falling off the bone. One bite and the rest of the meat fell off the bone onto my plate. The sausage was nothing to write home about but it was OK, I wouldn’t order that again though. The leg quarter of the chicken was OK but a little burnt for my liking, luck of the draw when the pit master was picking the chicken for my plate, I wouldn’t hesitate ordering it next time there. The barbecue sauce was really good. No fountain drinks only soda pop by the can. This is my pet peeve and I shall start my rant. This is my peeve, not a complaint. The restaurant is self serve. You order at the counter when you come in, you get your own silverware, soda served by the can, ding the bell and call your name when your order is up and you go to the counter and pick it up. And when you pay the check you have the option on the credit card machine to leave a tip. You feel obligated to tip. The only person working is the owner/pit master/wait staff/cashier/table cleaner. For the price I paid and the service received, I would not have tipped if he wasn’t standing over me when I was paying.

Just had lunch here, my first visit. We were the only ones in the restaurant with an hour until closing. No scent of a smokehouse upon entering. Good selections & combos available. Clean dining room, pleasant music. My boyfriend and I each ordered a combo plate with intention of taking home leftovers. One of my selections of sides was sold out(southwest salad) but the two I ended up with were tasty. Food took a long time to arrive. I didn’t realize there were olives in the potato salad(maybe I overlooked this on the menu description?) and I don’t care for olives so I ate around them. Coleslaw was nice and crunchy with a tasty dressing. Ribs were tough & chewy, texture suggested that it had been microwaved or otherwise reheated. Brisket & ribs were lacking in flavor except for the sauce. Hot link has an odd flavor & texture. Overall, a below average experience & highly doubt I’d return.

Being from Texas, my expectation level for B-B-Q is probably a bit high. Enjoyed the atmosphere and the place overall, but the food itself was just okay. It was kinda cool that there were only two guys working at lunch and one sat us and took our drink order and the other took our food order and cooked it. First time my server was also my cook.

First time here for lunch. Wasn’t crowded at all for lunchtime. Food was pretty good, but service was lacking. We got the onion rings to start, which were pretty good, crispy. Entrees, brisket plate with 2 sides, baked beans and Southwest salad. Brisket had ok flavor, but sauce was on watery side. Next was my bbq ribs and brisket plate, however, I think they made a mistake and gave me pulled pork instead. Ribs were GREAT, other meat was ok, a little salty. Coleslaw was really good with a little horseradish in the mix. Baked beans good too. Son had ½ lb Angus burger with fries. He said it was a really good burger and very filling. His fries could have been cooked longer, a little soggy. But again service was a little slow. Go for ribs.

This little gem is amazing! My man and I went there before going to throw a commemorative note in a bottle in the ocean to my grandpa. We had a plate of ribs and Fries and potato salad. Holy crap! Their sauce is amazing, like amazing, and the ribs were equally delicious. The owner and his coworker guy were super friendly and let’s just say we will be back! Try the ribs! Amazeballs

Best place for great applewood smoked BBQ. Just visited this place for the first time and had their pulled pork sandwich that was excellent, tender with little fat. Looks like all their sides are fresh and made from scratch which you can taste the quality. Service is nice and fast, comfortable surroundings that is family friendly.

Loved the BBQ brisket with hotlink! The coleslaw as the side was a perfect combination… Just driving though town, this was a great surprise!

Okay, so this place had top marks. There are so few barbecue places around, it is awesome to see one that is smoking meats the way they should be for real barbecue. I’m not too embarrassed to admit that I’ve eat a rack or two of ribs in my day.(I kinda hope karma DOESN’T exist because oh man, if it does I am royally screwed because there has got to be a long line of pigs that are really gonna want to kick my ass if there is.) So setting my theological discussion aside, this place was really good. I came in one day for a late lunch. I’d called ahead and asked about the hours. The guy sounded a bit odd at first. But it wasn’t a bad thing as I was about to find out. He was harried because so many people had come in to devour their food and he wasn’t sure how much longer he was going to have stuff to feed, well me. Insert adrenaline rush and panic here. I rushed over. I managed to order a rack of ribs. I wasn’t sure what to expect given that he said they were apparently running out. But something worked out right for me. Because what I got was this heaping platter of very meaty and well smoked ribs. Had an actual bark on them, which a lot of times you don’t actually see. Good seasoning on the meat. The sauce was a bit ordinary-ish, but good. Not falling apart, but very very very good. I’m judging this according to some solid barbecue I’ve had in the south. As soon as they put this grub down in front of me, the more visceral parts of my personality took over. I tore into those things like a hyena and barely came up for air. I’m a little chagrined to admit that for a moment or two I actually contemplated shanking some of the other customers and taking their food. I was enjoying it that much. For sides I got the firecracker coleslaw and the baked beans. They were okay. I will probably try something else next time I go. And, oh yes, there will be a next time. And so if you happen to be there in the future and you see a middle aged guy with black, soulless, shark eyes and drool coming out of his mouth, please, please PLEASE heed my advice and just get out of his way. It’s just safer for everyone involved. Anyway, the fire coleslaw was good, but not spectacular. Wasn’t all that hot. The beans were okay. I appreciate the creativity in using black beans but it was probably the weakest part of the meal. Frankly, this isn’t a really a strong criticism of them. Try them. You might like them. Just was a bit different than I expected. The décor is pretty cool. It is nicely decorated inside without being pretentious in a way that makes the place seem like anything more than it should be – some dudes with a smoker and some serious talent. P. S., yeah so even though the ribs were probably enough to feed too people, in the interests of informing my fellow Unilocalers, I had a hot link too. That was pretty good too. Not sure if they made the sausage or not. Might not have. That was pretty dang decent too.

Was odd when i first walked in, the waitress appeared confused? I had to double check that i was in a restaurant it was open for lunch, right? I proceeded to ask for the check in offer.. but only after you click it does it tell you have to order the ribs for two(@ $ 30 with tax! !) The ribs must be taken to-go but you get two sides. More on that later. So i get the pork slider, i dint eat a lot of bbq but there were pickles on it! The meat ib the slider was yum! Sauce was delish but the bun took over the sandwich. So after i eat i go up to find out the damage for the ribs. Yikes, $ 30 later was out the door, i was still a bit hungry so i pulled out the corn muffin. Wow, talk about dry, Had real corn in it but just dry and crumbly. Maybe i need to heat it? The one that arrived at the table next to me looked like was in batter shape but i wasn’t there for the muffin..

Arrived 10 minutes before closing. Uncle Gil made up some massive ribs-to-go bags while we downed beverages. Very best way to prepare for a train ride! Will definitely be back.

Mouth watering BBQ with a sauce that proves the awards it’s won! Come here if you want real food, and don’t care about how much flair people wear. Go to Applebee’s if you want quick frozen foods.
