Buho’s

We wanted to try it out for lunch. Totally not thrilled, perhaps a little disgusted. The salsa chips arrived promptly. The salsa had a watery, frothy look. Imagine chewing up some salsa then spitting it out, kind of like that. The food was served promptly as well. My wife’s steak fajitas had no sizzle, it appeared to be my mildly warmed up pre-​cooked bits of steak. The chopped tomatoes in our salad tastes and smelled funky, slightly softer texture then one would expect from tomatoes chopped at least within the same day. I had the soft tacos, the chorizo taco was good, the steak taco was so-​so, see above for steak fajita. We did explain our issues with the tomatoes to the nice Waitress; she didn’t seem to have a response or perhaps it was just apathy.

The service on Cinco De Mayo, 5÷5÷16, was the worst service I’ve had in a very long time. The waitress was inattentive, slow, and just horrible. Our food came out incomplete and cold. With a party of 14 half the table received their food and the remainder of the party received their food sporadically. I order their shrimp fajitas. The shrimp was overlooked, the tortilla shells were cold and the portion size was very small. The waitress never brought our table nachos and salsa we asked the bust boy and he provided them. The waitress took 30 minutes to bring our drinks and another 30 minutes to take our food order. My appetizer came out cold and with our dinner. The atmosphere and music was good but the food and service was unacceptable. If I could give them a –1 I would. I do not recommend this restaurant and will never return. Very unhappy customer!

Had dinner here Saturday around 5pm. We were promptly seated. Chips and salsa brought to the table, salsa was fresh and delicious. I had the steak with onions and jalapeños. It was delicious. Hubby had enchiladas verde, also delicious. Place started to fill in with the dinner crowd. We shared the tres leches cake. I’m still dreaming about it. Amazing!

We didn’t get to try the food because the service was so terrible before we could even be seated. It was not that busy and we were not greeted when we walked in and waited for the hostess. After about 10 – 15 minutes we asked if someone would help us. They said they would be right with us. Another 5 minutes went by and still nothing. We left. Will never go back here. Doesn’t matter if the food is good, if they can’t appreciate customers I don’t want to eat there. Zero stars if I had the option.

Authentic Mexican food here! Service was very friendly and the food was great! They also have a limited selection of Mexican groceries as well as Mexican soda and an ice cream bar

The enchiladas are awesome! Homemade ice cream is very good says my six year old. Great authentic Mexican over all

This is one of my favorite restaurants around. Everything was great, but the service wasn’t that good. I got the Exton fajitas and they were amazing. For dessert, I got churros and they were the best I’ve ever had.
I defiantly recommend this restaurant

Don’t know how this place has a 4 star review. A review should be based on both taste and service, not just the food alone.
Came here for dinner with my parents on a random Wednesday night since my mom had been craving Mexican food. As I work nearby, thought we could give this place a try instead of driving to a place in Reading that one of her co-​workers recommended.
Looking over the menu, they had a pretty good selection. We wanted to try a couple items that we could share: ordered the queso fundido, buho mixto, tampiquena, and an additional tamale. The waitress was expecting us to order more because she asked rudely if that was all we were ordering.
While waiting for our meal, complimentary hot chips and two types of salsa (red and green) was placed on our table. The waters we were given tasted like chlorine so they were not drank. The margarita that comes with entrees was all mix and no tequila — she didn’t even ask if I wanted salt on the rim AND there was a black spot on the glass I received. The fundido was nice and stringy with chorizo. The mixto had a tasty variety of items and guac was good. The «steak» served as part of the tampiquena was the flattest piece of meat I have ever seen. The desserts looked good, but we were full and had leftovers to take home.
Despite the flavors being authentic, the waitresses attitude and lack of providing attentive service is enough to make me not want to return. Planning on trying out Taco Maya, another Mexican restaurant in the area.

I love the ambience! The food is rich with flavors and I’ve already been here twice with my friends. Authentic Mexican food with lots of nachos that will fill up your stomach! Watch out for that! :D

I was in search of tasty Mexican food and I found it! They serve you homemade salsa and tortilla chips, to start. I had the tampiquena which was absolutely delicious! Both the chicken and steak was super tender and moist. The guacamole seemed homemade. My friend had the bistek en chile pasilla and she loved it. I tried a little and agreed. The meat was great quality (not fatty, etc), and the sauce was mmmmmm. My other friend had something with shrimp (I forget the name) and the shrimp was very well seasoned. The portions are fair for the price. All three of us had leftovers to take home with us.
The only negative was that the waitress wasn’t quite as attentive as I would have liked. Just little things, like being slow to get drink refills, to bring us our check, etc. The turn around time from ordering to having the chips, and then the meals come out was perfectly fine, though.
The staff were very friendly and courteous. They get extra kudos for this one: they had accidentally given my friend a lunch menu where the bistek was listed for $ 10 but was charged on the bill for $ 14 (dinner price). When my friend questioned the higher bill price, after seeing their mistake, they gave her the difference ($ 4). That was very nice of them!
Conclusion: I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely go back again.

The staff is extremely friendly and attentive. The food is very good. The prices are a bit high but the food is really good and it wasn’t loud like so many other places are. It also didn’t feel cramped like others do. I would definitely return!

Very decent food. I loved tostadas yum yum.
Grilled chicken had a lot of oil but tasted alright! They give free margaritas with entrée if you ask them. It’s a very simple lime (I guess) margarita but that’s what you get for free. Ambience is good. Definitely visiting again for tostadas.

I order carnitas! It’s is huge amounts of succulent pork. The pepper, onion and tomato salads and rice sides are good.
My husband loves the enchiladas. This place is kitschy and folksy.
The service isn’t always rapid, but it’s very friendly. Order ahead, if you are in a rush.

Nope. No. Nada. Disgusting.
I sent my dish back. That’s what you need to understand. My dish was not even good enough to force my way through. I ordered nachos. The least complicated dish on the entire menu. A no meat nacho dish. When my dish came out to me I couldn’t even pull the chips apart. You know why? Because the cheese was congealed and cold. The simplest thing there is to make… cheese and chips was not even done right. The saddest part was not the failure in execution, but actually bringing out the dish. I was polite to the waiter (never scold the waitstaff they don’t cook your food) and declined to try anything else. The sight of a plate of congealed viscous cheese really does a number on your appetite.
My boyfriend got the flautas and the most polite way to call it is a cardboard shells stuffed with dry sausage. He described it as drier than the Sahara. We paid for the flautas though, because our waiter was too nice to do that twice to. When I saw the menu prices, I assumed the meals would be good. This place is on the pricier side of other Mexican restaurants within radius – we’re talking 15 and up per plate. I’m confused by other reviews because Chipotle is more authentic than the dishes I tried to stomach today. The beans and rice were the only things I could even handle. I can make beans and rice at home.
By the way, they don’t take American Express.
Also, we still tipped 20% because the food has nothing to do with the service. In fact, the service I received is a full star alone. Always tip your waiters/​waitresses!

Oh my gosh! If you are looking for some good authentic Mexican food look no further. This place has it all. The buho mixto is the best app to start with and any of their entrees will only leave you satisfied and are extremely delicious. The staff is great and attends to you right away and as a BYO it’s a great place to grab some friends and a bottle of tequila and freakin fiesta! I love the mixto fajitas and their chimichangas are to die for!

I always feel like its a major win when a small indie owned restaurant is in a chain area. Clearly, it would be a better picture if it was in a small nook in a cobbled street that you walk to after buying local produce from vendors in wooden street carts — but life is not that way. Sometimes you need to run to a mall land area to do errands, and the thought of going to Panera again turns me off. When an indie restaurant is in that strip mall — it feels like a miraculous discovery.
Stopped here between work appointments and I was so glad I did. Great horchata, got a plate called Buho mix (I think… I know, bad Unilocaler, bad) — but it was a plate of vegetarian glory. Hearty, spicy, beans so smooth I wanted to use every last chip to scoop them up. I am glad I took the extra look to find this place. Very friendly service — and they even told me a little about the dish when it came out. It was a nice touch.

Every meal here has been excellent. Authentic Mexican. Waitstaff is always informative and friendly, even when it takes me a solid 20 minutes to decide on a dish! It’s a BYOB and they recently added outdoor seating… greatness! Two of my favorite dishes are the Carnitas & the shrimp enchiladas. Buho trumps all other chesco Mexican restaurants!

Their guacamole with the chips and salsa appetizer was AWESOME (very cheesy and yummmyy) I got the chicken quesadilla and the boyfriend got a chicken burrito. Authentic Mexican so don’t expect grilled with extra cheese expect extra juicy chicken. Standard guacamole not overly flavored but not too bland. We enjoyed it.
Atmosphere is clean and colorful, lots of art on the walls and table. I liked the server she was quiet and very friendly and sweet. She was helpful with the menu.
Very decent pricing and portion sizing.
Construction in the front and we had a tough time finding it and werent sure if it was open when we first looked at it but don’t let it discourage you from going in, the inside is nice and clean.
Final thought: would recommend to anyone looking for authentic Mexican food in the area.
