Worth the wait! Our family came here yesterday for a little Mom’s Day dinner and Chinese was on the menu. We decided to eat in and when we arrived thought we might be making a mistake… the service was a little slow as the hostess seemed to be the only person working the front. Luckily the wait was worth it. This is definitely a place with a take out clientele. I got cashew chicken which is the best I have had in a long time. My daughter’s orange chicken was awesome. Just enough heat to know it is there but sweet to counterbalance. My son’s fried chicken rice was good. Mom got the dumplings and really enjoyed them. We all shares each others meals and liked them all.

Definitely recommend takeout as the restaurant is small, empty, and old looking. But regardless, the general tso’s chicken is fantastic. Decent serving size and piping hot. Plus, the woman I always see there is so friendly!

Pleasantly surprised. Empty when I came in, but whatever, seemed like they do more take out than eat in judging by the amount of calls that came in. Waitress was very polite, and spoke perfect English. Ordered crab Rangoon and a small order of curry chicken. Waitress brought some of those crispy noodle things to munch on. Food came out fast, was nice and hot. Crab Rangoon was exactly as you expect, deep fried cream cheese and crab goodness with some warm sweet and sour sauce for dipping. 6 medium sized pieces for $ 5 Curry chicken was great, the small order was still plenty, just enough to fill me up without feeling like I overage. Came with onions, carrots, and snow peas. Good proportion of chicken to veggies. Sauce was a nice medium spiciness, and very flavorful. $ 7 Minus 1 star only because there was an odd slightly musty smell. Not so bad that it hindered my enjoyment of the food. Just weird and a little off putting. Was neat and clean otherwise.

I’ve ordered a few more times since my first review, and I’m glad to say their food quality has been quite consistent. My new favourite here is Ginger Chicken. It’s light and flavourful, is served with broccoli, and comes with steamed rice.

I will update, maybe after I actually get my order. Placed an order online, the system was straight forward and easy. Got the confirmation email at 7:30 saying my order HAS been received and thanks for the business. After an hour, and awaiting my delivery from a place only a mile or two down the road, got a call saying that they JUST recieved the order, they are out of one of the dumpling varieties I ordered, do I still want the order? After she assured me that I would be next up, and would get my delivery quick, I subbed their 86’d item for another, said bring it on, I has a HANGRY! 15min later, a call from them, «Oh, we’re sorry but the entrée you ordered(double cooked pork, chinese style) we are out of, do you still want the order? Truth be told, I only tried them because they offered traditional Chinese/off americanized chinese food, and I LOVE pork belly. Being that they were out of the only reason I really placed an order, an hour and a half AFTER I placed the original order, I said screw it and cancelled the order altogether. I said I would try back in a week or so. I will update once I actually get some food. As of now, not thrilled.

GF and I ate dinner there last night. We were hesitant because it’s always empty, but our options were limited. I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and taste. The Kung Pao Shrimp was delicious. Shrimp were large and with firm texture. It was spicy. Also enjoyed the seaweed salad and spring rools. Our server was very attentive and took good care of us. I would have given 4 stars except the tabletop duck sauce/hot mustard jars looked unsavory and there were no paper towels in the men’s room to dry my hands. I would definitely go back.

We had been ordering Chinese food for 10 – 15 years from here and it was so delicious. The chicken and broccoli was my fav. We ordered about two months ago and the food was just horrible. Did not taste anything like it used. The portion was small and expensive. We have no longer ordered from here and are currently looking for a new spot.

Worst Orange Beef I’ve ever had. There was absolutely NO meat… only the flour part soaked in the Orange sauce. Thanks for the protein… -.-;;

I’m sad to say that this place has really gone downhill as of late. When we moved to the area last year we found China Garden and it became our go-to Chinese take-out place. The food was always good and the portions were huge. However, over the past few months the meals have been getting worse and worse… first they cut back on the portion sizes but raised prices, the quality of the food is always unpredictable, and even the take-out packaging has become cheap and flimsy. Our most recent take-out order was totally inedible — which is saying a lot because I am the opposite of a picky eater. One entrée was totally bland and the other was soaking in garlic, the appetizer was overcooked, and the wonton soup was so mushy that the wontons were literally falling apart in the broth. Unfortunately we won’t be going back here any longer and will be finding another Chinese place in the future.

The worst Chinese restaurant ever tried, if you mean Chines food. Even better to go to Panda… I live in this area, tried it yesterday, and added the most evil comment I ever have…

We first went there in about 2004 or 2005, and it was… just okay. Didn’t bother going back until we saw recently that they’re under new management. The food is better now. If that were the only criterion(even counting price too), I’d say three to four stars. So why only TWO stars now? Going there in person is… just okay. The menus are hard to read(been a while since then but IIRC it’s a two-sider in a straight-up lucite stand, one per table), the atmosphere is rather lacking, the service is slow even when there’s hardly anybody else around, etc. At least it seemed clean. Other reviews mentioned that their main business is takeout and delivery. So we tried that. We ordered Szechuan String Beans and Cashew Chicken, which was enough to use the coupon for free Crab Rangoon. It arrived fairly quickly. *What* arrived, however, was Szechuan String Beans, Crab Rangoon, and. .. *something* with chicken… and shrimp(good, but only three of them, not like a major ingredient)… and beef, which my wife doesn’t eat. And corn and broccoli and water chestnuts and a few other things. Maybe it was Triple Delight or something, I don’t know… I just know that, even though it was good, as were the Szechuan String Beans, it wasn’t the Cashew Chicken we ordered. So yeah, they get dinged for that. And the Crab Rangoon didn’t seem to have much, if any, crab in it, even fake. I don’t think it had any noticeable amount of scallion either. Might as well have just filled it with plain cheese.

I’ve got to feed myself. Freezing & hungry after school. So I went to china garden again. Restaurant is empty. Good for me :-p I enjoyed this quiet environment.(But phone kept ringing…) The lights AREPRETTY. I only ordered a bowl of hot & sour soup &2 spring rolls. The soup is better than the rolls coz it doesn’t seem to have a lot of beef inside. I noticed their plates, silverwares are all changed. Shiny. Lol…

UPDATED: Now the NEW China Garden. They don’t offer my favorite General Tso’s fish anymore. Portions are teeny tiny, lots of filler vegetables, sweet and sour sauce is more like duck sauce. I hate to bash a local mom and pop, but there was nothing wrong with the Old China Garden. And I’m guessing their cash registers are reflecting that. Looking for a new American-Chinese place.(sigh). — — — — — Typical American-Chinese food. Don’t let the empty restaurant fool you, they do most of their business in delivery and take out. We order from here all the time when we want to satisfy our Pork Lo Mein and Crab Rangoon cravings. If you’re in the mood to try something new, try their General Tso’s Fish. Soft and flaky on the inside, crisp and saucy on the outside, this is a welcome diversion from the old standby. Another one of my faves? Their Pepper and Salt Shrimp. Crispy batter-fried shrimp sprinkled with just enough S&P to give it a kick. Helpful Hint: The take out menu has great coupons – from free Chicken, Beef, or Shrimp Lo Mein to General Tso’s Chicken(depending on how much you spend).

Food was ok, not worth the delivery wait of 1 hour. The driver was very angry and not even close to friendly. Maybe its better just to take out

I had the family style bean curd… It was delicious. It was a little hard to cut/chew, they had to bring me a knife, but it was delicious. Portion size was good. Needs more baby corn. Would definitely come again. I had the steamed dumplings too and I liked them the same as most chinese dumplings. 4 big dumplings for about $ 4 so it was good. Nice price and lots of parking.

I’m selling my house and didn’t want to mess up my clean kitchen by cooking, so I stopped by here for a big carry out order on the weekend of Oct. 19, 2013 that I hoped would last a couple days. I picked it because I was in the area and I noticed it’s four star rating here on Unilocal.I couldn’t have made a better choice. The place doesn’t look like much, inside or out, but the food is fantastic. The Chicken with Cashews, Szechuan Beef, Lo Mein and spring rolls were some of the best I’ve tasted in a very long time. That’s really saying something because I love Chinese food and have tried dozens of places in and around Northern Virginia and even in China. I live in Loudoun County but will make a point to stop by here whenever I can. On second thought, when my house sells, perhaps I’ll move nearby :)

My wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the dish’s we ordered at China Garden. We started off with spring rolls that did not dissapoint. For our entrée’s we ordered the«Scallop and Beef» and the«Happy Family» and both were very much to our liking. Of the three Chinese restaurants I’ve tried in NOVA thus far, China Garden is my favorite.

It saddens me to only see a three star rating! :( Best Chicken & Broccoli in Fairfax! It always has the right amount of sauce, and the chicken is tender and cooked properly and smells PERFECT. I’ve had this dish for the past 8 years. I drive out of my way from Chantilly to get to here. I hope that’s saying something. :)
