Pretty good food for a quick lunch. Very large selection of food, but most of it is classic Asian fare. My friend’s fried tofu lunch was an unexpected gem! The tofu was really soft yet chewy, and very juicy! Highly recommend over any other of their stir-fry dishes. The phở was decent, large, and filling.

I absolutely love this place. Everytime we crave for some Chinese food… this is «the» place to go to! My husband and I r from SJ and we have a good standards of what is great and whats not when compare restaurants…(u know cause we have tried many in the city) and also, we are food lovers! :) I gotta say that I am surprised that there is a good Chinese restaurant with great food, big portion, affordable pricing, clean restaurant and friendly staff in FF… usually you don’t get all that qualities in a Chinese restaurant… u know if its cheap, it sucks! or if its great its not cheap! etc… Anyways, I am giving it a 5 star cause they deserve it! ^_^

My family goes here a lot and recently held a private party here for my dads birthday. We had the entire restaurant to ourselves from 11 – 3 on a Saturday.(Had around 60 guests). The workers. were extremely accommodating– letting us store 5 containers of icecream, setting up the food and drinks, assisting us with the cake, etc. They were very helpful and the food is a great value. Many people left with takeout boxes and the workers even went ahead and packed the food for us. They were SO sweet. The pong pong chicken is the BEST thing on the menu. Don’t go here without trying it.

This place is ok. Not great, not terrible, just ok. I was really in the mood for a banh mi sandwich, so I opened up Unilocal to see what was available around here. I was near Saigon Bistro already so decided to try it out. I ordered: grilled pork Vietnamese sandwich coconut pearl drink pong pong chicken wings(bone in) — they ended up giving me boneless instead though. :-/ Pong Pong: I got it to go, so I had no intentions to go back for the fix. No big deal though, they’d probably taste similar, right? Based on the great reviews on pong pong anything here I was expecting something spectacular. It was pretty tasty. If someone brought some over to my house I’d happily eat it or if I was in the area and wanted sweet savory Asian food I’d get it, but its not something I’d go out of my way to eat. Coconut Pearl Drink: This was terrible. It was icy and blended. It lacked flavor. The tapioca wasn’t very good at all — some of it was mushy, the ones that weren’t were still tasted off. Just don’t get it. Banh Mi: The reason I went there. It was ok. Scratched the itch, but nowhere near the best I’ve had. There were plenty of pickled veggies(my favorite part), but they were a little sweet for me. The rest of it was good too. Just ok.

I have been here a couple of times and just realized I had not reviewed them. We attempted to go again last night and really wished they did not close early on Mondays. They were just leaving when we pulled up around 7. We were having a birthday dinner for my wife’s cousin and had planned to eat here with out checking their hours. We like their B.J. Special. 3 dishes for $ 21. The portions are big and we always bring some home after the 4 of us eat our fill. The staff is friendly and efficient. I will be back but not on a Monday night!

its a place we have passed by many times but never went to til tonight. it serves vietnamese, chinese, and thai food. thought, why not try something new and different. never have been to a place where they have a wide diversity of food in one restaurant. when we got there, we saw so many cars parked there and when we walked in, there were a lot of people inside! i was really surpised! on a weekday! we were seated right away. we didnt really know what to order at first. they had a HUGE selection of food from the menu. we decided to order crispy shimp rolls, pong pong chicken, salt and pepper calamari, tofu with mixed vegetables, thai fried rice, thin shoyu chicken. they brought the food out and we were amazed how much was on each plate! it was mountain! FRESH and perfect. some places, no matter what you order, all the food have kind of the same taste. the food here tastes different on every plate! i was very surprised and happy! i always judge my food til the very end. usually when i try someplace, i like it in the beginning then toward the end, im like… its okay… :/ but Saigon Bistro was good all the way to the end! we have so much left overs and we are looking forward to having it for lunch tomorrow! we also ordered vietnamese coffee. my fav! and it was perfect! my son ordered strawberry boba drink, it was a little thick, but he loved it. all i kept hearing from him was… ahhhhhh… so refreshing! LOL! they gave us 3 menus. 1 menu made my mouth all watery! it was pictures of the food 2 regular menu, but had so many items on it!!! 3. a blackjack menu. its any 3 items for $ 21. that is a very good deal! but because it was our first time, we wanted to go all out and try other food on menu #2 with all the different items on it. The staff was very welcoming. very professional and pleasant. i love going to places that make you feel welcomed! they came to the table and asked if everything was alright, and i talked to them for a lil bit. they were more than happy to answer my questions with smiles and made you feel very relaxed there! it comforting to know that there are still places out there that do make you feel relaxed and welcomed. our family has a lot of parties, so for sure we will be ordering party trays from them! the prices are very reasonable! 20 – 38 dollars for a short party tray of food. and 32 – 65 dollars for the long big party tray of food. i am very glad to have found this place! we all enjoyed our food and are looking forward to going again and try other different food that they serve!

Being the Unilocaler that I am, I really enjoy going to businesses based on recommendations, especially restaurants. I’m trying to impart this on my fiancée’s parents since they don’t venture outside of their comfort zone too often. So when I saw Douglas Y’s review on a place in Fairfield where they live, I was super stoked to get the opportunity. We were seated right away, and were amazed by the large menu, and we came THIIIIIIIS close to getting the Black Jack dinner, but didn’t since we were not especially hungry. Everybody that ordered food got some order of phở and it was brought quickly and slurped up quickly. We also had the shrimp spring rolls and had to have the chicken wings since almost every review suggested to. They were good, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to order them. Had lots of breading on them which made them look huge and I basically bit right into the bone. Not the best I’ve had, but still really really good quality and fair prices. Thanks again Douglas for your suggestion!

4 Stars for the service. 3 Stars for the food… Their food is a bit too greasy for me, and everything that was battered and deep fried had too thick of an outside… It was too much for me. I didn’t enjoy it very much.

Typical Asian place that caters to non-Asians. Haha. Thai noodle soup was weird tasting and would not get again. Phở wasn’t the best I’ve had and the Vietnamese sandwich’s meat was lacking in flavor and didn’t have a lot of pickled veggies on it. Got to try Vietnamese beer(33 brand) for the first time at the waitress’ really strong recommendation… sticking with Tsingtao next time. tldr; wouldn’t go out of the way to eat here. Skip their Vietnamese sandwiches.

The Black Jack Dinner Special Three items for $ 21 silly asian gamblers! The good news about this silly special is the food taste good. This place has already been reincarnated several times as I never see people here when I drive by. Hopefully this place will survive because their food is good and reasonably priced. Sort spartan décor with big clunky booths with smallish tables. There was barely enough room on our table for all of our yummy food. We tried the following dishes: Salt n Pepper Chicken: lightly battered super tender chicken deep fried and served with chili salt, sliced jalapeño, onions and scallions. I would say this is their most popular dish. String Beans with chicken: fresh string beans with tender chicken in a tasty brown sauce Beef Chow Fun: this was the weakest dish, needed more soy sauce. Vietnamese Shrimp Rolls; freshly rolled with fresh ingredients and served with peanut sauce not included in the special $ 5.25 The special also included hot n sour soup chock full of bamboo shoots, mushrooms, tofu and scallions. I don’t like hot n sour soup but this one was actually yummy. We also tried their boba drinks and would not recommend them here as they were very weakly flavored. Overall I found this food to be more Chinese than Vietnamese but that’s a good thing since their isn’t any good Chinese food in the Fairfield/Vacaville area. I thought all of the food except the soup could use a tad more seasoning but I will be adding this solid eatery to my Fairfield rotation.

Came here a while back and remembered the phở being decent and my sister and her family had been coming here regularly lately and suggested we stop in here, since it was 8:30 and we were looking for places that were open past 9(not many in the Fairfield area FYI). We ordered a ton of food and ended up kind of eating family style. Got the Bun Thit Nuong, Cha Gio and gave half of it away. The pork wasn’t the best I’ve had, but the egg roll was very good and a very hearty portion for sure. Tried some of the shrimp dumpling soup and am a fan of the light, clear flavorful broth. The dumpling itself was not as well constructed as it should have been. The salt and pepper rock cod was very average. Not very good, no kick or spice in the dish and the batter was too overpowering and not light enough. The highlight of the meal were the chew chow shrimp rolls(they are on the picture menu). Very good. Crispy on the outside and great flavorful bites. Definitely order if you dine here! Service was meh this time. Remember it being good and attentive the last time I came in for lunch, but this time for dinner, it was a little slow.

Frankly this sort of food would be a few bucks cheaper in a more«Asian» area but, alas, this is Fairfield so a markup is expected. This is not to say that the food is necessarily expensive(pricing is actually par the course for restaurants in Fairfield), rather the quality and pricing is not equitable with similar restaurants situated in more«ethnic» hubs. Pricing aside Saigon Bistro is a fine establishment that serves tasty Viet/Chinese meals with some random«Thai» dishes thrown into the mix. The menu, by the way, is expansive so you will surely find something to your liking. Moreover, the flavors are here and after several visits I’ve yet to be disappointed. The service is a bit flaky but acceptable; at least they are prompt. ***Note cash only for orders under $ 10!

Great place to come for some Chinese/vietnamese/asian cuisine! The Pong Pong sauce is definitely what makes this a popular place. The Place — The restaurant itself is located on the intersection of Travis Blvd and North Texas and it’s in the building that used to be Hof Brau for those that have lived in Fairfield for quite some time. Inside is nothing special and has the typical vibe of a Chinese/asian restaurant. The Service — Great service and very friendly people! Constantly checking up on you to make sure everything is ok and that you don’t need anything else and they can tell when regulars of the restaurant come by and visit and that goes a long way to a consumer. It’s kind of embarrassing for some, but I personally don’t mind it… regulars come back for a reason so it serves as its own compliment in its own right. The Food — I started out with a Thai Iced Tea with pearl(See Picture) and while it was delicious and refreshing, they don’t have straws for you to suck the pearl through it. So, while I drank all of the Thai Iced Tea, the pearl just sat at the bottom untouched. I was pretty hungry, so for starters, I went with the pot stickers(See Picture). While they only give you six in an order, the pot stickers themselves are quite large and VERY filling. In fact, I almost didn’t have room for my main dish(the purpose of me coming to Saigon in the first place haha) after finishing the pot stickers. Nothing special about the pot stickers but made for a good change of pace from my main dish. Now, for the main event, the main reason why I went to Saigon… the Pong Pong Chicken. Traditionally, they apparently make the Pong Pong Chicken with traditional chicken wings(bone-in); however, they offer many different variations of their popular Pong Pong dish such as Pong Pong Shrimp, Pong Pong Beef, and Pong Pong Boneless Chicken. I went with the Pong Pong Boneless Chicken(See Picture) and it was something special indeed. It’s hard to describe the Pong Pong sauce, but it was spicy, tangy, sweet, and just all around delicious. Overall — In a nutshell, I was definitely impressed with the offerings of Saigon Bistro. The staff is very friendly and very helpful and the food doesn’t disappoint as well. I’m looking forward to coming back and trying some of the other dishes on the menu or even getting the Pong Pong dish again. Enjoy!

Came here on a Thursday evening, rollin 11 deep in da restaurant(famished from a long day of festivities). The place was pretty empty, only 2 tables were occupied. The waitress pushed tables together and arranged seats to accommodate my entourage. We were given menus and water with thinly sliced limes chillin’ at the bottom. Refreshing. We decided to pick items from the 3 for $ 21 «jackpot» menu & order 2 plates of honey walnut prawns and rice to share amongst the table(some ordered plates for themselves). At first, we thought we ordered too much food because plate after plate was coming out, but then in the end… we went Godzilla on the food. I mean, dang, we went HAM! Plates were empty. Yeah, it was our ONLY meal of the day. **Brunner /BRRUN-NER/(noun) — a very late brunch, almost dinner meal. :P My fave dish, of course, was the Honey walnut prawns. Crispy battered shrimp coated nicely with creamy sauce w/candied walnuts surrounding them. AWWHH. Bombdotcom I tell you. That dish was goin’ fast. I kept my eyes on that plate(like a hawk in the sky) waiting for somebody to take the last pieces(I didn’t want to take them right away, woulda seemed greedy, lol) In the end, I was able to snag one more piece ;D I was a bit disappointed in the portion size for the price($ 11) I wanted more!!! Overall, all the dishes I had were nom nom, good! The chow fun & beef/broccoli, delishness. Dishes came out in a reasonable amount of time, service was good, &90% of the prices were reasonable. Yup, I’ll come back to try more dishes. Give this place a try!

We came were on a Saturday afternoon and I ordered from the lunch menu, Pong pong prawns and eggrolls for 15 — I remember years ago, this used to be a barvarian restaurant! lol — Not just viet, but chinese and thai favorites — Lunch special from 11 to 3. daily — Pong pong is a sauce that tastes sweet. no spice. — Campbell soup veggies with a hint of tom yum and some chicken and tofu. lol. not the typical soup i was expecting. It was pretty good — Circle-shaped shrimp? haha. maybe they split them in half? so crispy! Great! — Need more lettuce with eggroll. need more of the sour veggies — Ikea lights! Just like at home. haha — BUG light? niceee. haha — Pearl drink? HAHA. weird name. — Service was average. Nice old asian lady. Lime in water with no straw. haha. — Overall, great place! Haven’t tried the phở or other viet dishes, but I’m looking forward to it.

I was looking for a place to eat around 9:00PM so I was happy to see that this joint didn’t close until 10:00PM. It’s a straight up Asian restaurant so you can already expect the service to be hit or miss but the food will probably be consistently good, made either by some experienced Asian mom/dad or some Mexican guy. Anyway, I like how they have a huge selection of food. You must get Pong Pong Chicken(with bone) and rice. I also enjoyed their Vietnamese coffee which probably was not brewed there. You will have an at least decent experience here especially with the decent prices. Good spot for comfort food.

I love this place and I’ve only eaten here twice. I love the selection of the many, many different types of food here on the menu. This is EXACTLY what I need — healthy Asian cuisines! I’ve already had the sammich, Thai soup and the Thai salad(Thai salad was awesome btw — you could probably eat this all the time if you’re doing Atkins!). I will keep returning for dinner because I want to support my mom and pop businesses and I REALLYREALLY don’t want this place to close like the previous restaurants. So come on in peeps!!!

Passed by the other day expecting to see Wasabi the japanese restaurant and saw Saigon Bistro with pictures of bahn mi sandwiches in the window. Pretty excited to see Vietnamese sandwiches come back especially when the only other place in town Hong Xuan closed down on West Texas street. Brought a few friends to lunch today and we ordered chicken sandwiches, the fresh spring rolls and fried crispy rolls. We ordered pong-pong chicken wings and the pong-pong beef. Everything was absolutely delicious. To really describe what the pong-pong is exactly in a word I would say fantastic. Its a sweet and sour crunchy crust with some flamenco heat; spicy and temperature wise. It’s the stuff dreams are made of… It’s named after the return serve when you play table tennis. You know Ping-«Pong-Pong», because you will return for more servings. Price is a great value, a must go!
