The service you will receive depends on who actually performs it. On my first visit I had highlights, and the student was very meticulous with her work. I was very happy with the results. On my next visit I wanted a color touch up, and the student mixed the hair tint incorrectly and patches of my scalp got damaged. Silly me, I went in for a third time, also for a color touch-up, and everything was more or less ok, but when I went home I touched the back of my neck and I realized the student had not rinsed the dye from that area very well, so I had to wash my hair to get that out. In summary, you may be lucky and get someone who is thorough and who cares, or you might get a D student. Beware.

This is definitely a good program to get into if you are interested in cosmetology. The teachers are experienced and each one has great tips and techniques to offer. I feel that I learned the most I possibly could before graduating and taking my state board. I liked the fact that because this program is connected to the college, that I could continue my education while attending this class, and that it was paid by units, and therefor could be covered by financial aid. I did not like the fact that it took me a year and a half to get through. The hours were cut shorter the semester before I started due to budget cuts. I felt like that caused the process to drag out, but it may have been a good thing considering I had all the time in the world to work with the teachers.

i graduated from this school in 2008 and as old as the school is the basic techniques taught are exactly what you use out in the«real» world. i have since traveled to other states with my military husband and have found that the FOUNDATION work that i was taught works for any state. believe it or not people STILL get rollers put in their hair and STILL want their hair backcombed into beehives in certain states! boy was i surprised. As long as you ignore all that drama that goes on(students and teachers alike) and realy learn what they teach, you can make it as a stylist. Who cares if they dont do color a certain way… learn the basics FIRST. when you get out thats when you go take specialty classes and progress in your own technique for color/cuts/styling. thats what makes you unique and makes clients want to come back to you. i have not had any problems growing a clientele in less that 4 months wherever i have been, the hard part was leaving them after getting to know them! i would reccomend this school to anyone, with the same advice.

I cant speak for clients or other students but studying here has not been the best experience. I have a learning disability and it has been like pulling teeth trying to get help in the begging! The teachers have no patients and can be moody! They also can play favorites as far as the teaching is I dont have too much to complain about the teaching and material is good for the most part and I feel good about going for my state board test! I also feel as far as students having problems with other students in the class is a big issue! someone harasses you be ready to be on your own with it cause the teachers dont do much and the dean takes forever to get back to you! I also feel the dress code is crazy! black or white shoes and they cant be black and white which i find dumb. I have a small narrow foot which makes it hard to find shoes period for me much less a solid black or white shoes! as far as looking professional I think they should do black smocks because white gets dirty to easy and is not professinal looking when its dirty old or stained.
