The employees are friendly and the pizza is delicious. If you’re lucky, the owner will come out and play the didgeridoo while you eat.

This place has crazy good karma! We’re visiting Fairhope from Fort Lauderdale and needed some pizza before heading back to our hotel. Dennis and crew is the friendliest, most accommodating, and inspirational bunch we’ve ever met. Thank you for the amazing and DELICIOUS pizza and food for thought! You have GOT to visit this place.

While visiting Fairhope, my kids and I had a wonderful lunch at Papa’s. They enjoyed the lasagna and sopped the sauce with the yummy garlic bread sticks I had a very tasty slice of garlic and fresh tomato pizza. The crust was absolutely perfect! We will definitely go back next time we are down that way!

Good pizza, atmosphere is cool, and the service was excellent. Very chill atmosphere and liked the texture of the thin crust, and a reasonable price. A little more cheese would have been nice.

I honestly hadn’t been here in a couple of years. I had a couple of bad experiences here in the past that kept me away from coming. However, my boyfriend and I went there for a late lunch today and enjoyed our whole experience. We ordered the cheese bread and the monster calzone. The food was very good, restaurant clean, and the staff very friendly. We will return! Thanks, Ian!

Awesome pizza! One of the best I’ve ever had. Small dining area but you can do take out. Great atmosphere. I like the option to order a whole pizza or by the slice. I’ve also had the calzones. Those are also great, along with the spaghetti and meatballs. I eat here as often as I can.

THISREVIEWISFORTHEREALPAPA’S PIZZAINFAIRHOPE! A lot of the reviews and pictures are for the location in Daphne, which isn’t affiliated with the one in Fairhope. We came in for dinner one night and the place was fairly empty, lots of takeout though! I opted for a slice of pizza(yay for doing them by the slice!) and a Greek salad. The pizza was baked fresh and perfectly. Boyfriend loaded his up with toppings and initially complained that the crust was too soft, and the owners ended up making him another slice that was more«well done» for him, on the house! We loved the owner’s tongue and cheek humor, and their interest in our lives. It’s so hard to find that kind of customer service these days! Mother-in-law got a calzone and she let us finish it off. But, I got so distracted by how good it was that I forgot to share with boyfriend. Oops! Guess that’s good for Papa’s bad for boyfriend! When I’m back in town, I’ll definitely come back to this location in downtown Fairhope. So good and fun!

I was on vacation and a bit ready for something other than seafood(I know that sounds crazy but one does tire of even the best of any one food eh?) so I decided to buy my family some pizza. I definitely did NOT want a pizza chain so I started researching on Unilocal!the various local shops we could get a good pie or two from and although the selection was small there did seem to be a few very good choices to choose from in this area. After much debate I decided upon Papa’s Pizza, which when I told my family that’s where I had chosen they said they believed that was take and bake. Which raises a good point, perhaps Papa’s Pizza is not the best name for a pizza place as people like my family tend to think of Papa Murphys, which *IS* take and bake pizza(and great take and bake pizza at that) but for us pizza hounds we know what’s up. Since my family couldn’t really decide on which to get, New York style(my preference of course) or Sicilian style(my fiances preference) we decided to get one of each. The only rule my family gave me was any topping but no anchovies, which is a bit depressing since anchovies rule on pizza I believe, but alas, not many feel the same way. I called Papa’s pizza to place my order and spoke to Dennis, who as it turns out is the owner. He was very friendly and we both got a good laugh when he asked me where I was at and I told him I had no idea as I was from out of town. He was very willing to give me directions, although I had my GPS for that, and said to call him if I had any problems or needed direction. My first impression of Papa’s was definitely a positive experience talking on the phone with Dennis. I’ve called hundreds of pizza places in my day and never had anyone be so friendly, relaxed and just in general personable over the phone. It was like talking to a dear old friend! After we headed on over we had a bit of trouble finding the place. It’s kind of difficult to see from the road although my GPS took us right to it. It’s basically next door to the huge Honeybaked Ham on the corner so just find a parking space near H. Ham and, well you’re there. Parking is on the street and there is no charge but you may have to walk a ways if it’s lunch time, although we didn’t have to and we arrived at about 1pm that day(on a Thursday). When we walked in we were immediately greeted by a very cute and very friendly Rachel who was very nice and welcomed us warmly. I told her about our order and she went to the back to get Dennis. I believe this woman is Dennis’ wife but I’m not sure. Dennis came out and welcomed us, said he was glad we found the place ok and asked us if we wanted to eat some of the pizza there or if we’d just take it all with us. We decided to eat some of it there so he said he’d go get a couple of trays to bring the pizza out. The New York Style pizza came out and boy was it gorgeous. It’s my favorite type of pizza and I ordered what I always order on NY style: pepperoni, mushrooms, onions and extra cheese. The crust was cooked perfectly, very crisp on the bottom and soft and doughy on the top(but not undercooked) just the way perfect New York style should be. The sauce was slightly sweet and they put the right amount in. The pepperoni was great, although I’d have liked there to be slightly larger and thicker slices of pepperoni on there and the onions were plentiful and slightly crisp/slightly cooked just as they should be(although I do prefer circular cut versus diced) and lastly the mushrooms tasted fresh and were very good, although again I could have done with slightly chunkier mushrooms on my pizza. The cheese tasted very high quality and they gave us plenty, which was good because if I order extra cheese I want a bunch and I got it here. The Sicilian we ordered was the Rocky Marciano which was the equivalent of a deluxe at most pizza shops. It was great with crisped crust on the outer rim and soft, doughy pillows supporting the pizza on the inner part of the pizza. The toppings were plentiful and the cheese was, as on the NY style, very good and very plentiful as well. They did have plenty of sauce on the pizza, per my fiancé who likes extra sauce. I didn’t have to order extra sauce, when I tried Dennis told me the Sicilian already has a lot so no need to order extra sauce. I actually have never really liked Sicilian pizza at any other place I’ve tried but I loved this pizza. Don’t get me wrong, I’d not turn down a slice of Sicilian from shops but I typically never order it for myself. At Papa’s I definitely would however, it was very, very good. We cashed out and Dennis boxed up our remaining pizza while he talked to me about what makes a great pizza. The dude is awesome, he loves what he does and it shows. When we walked out he even came out and told us thank you for coming. I would give the pizza and restaurant 4 stars but the friendliness of Dennis and Rachel pushed them to five stars. HIGHLYRECOMMENDED!!!

Went to Papas tonight with my wife and two kids. The place was not busy but pleasant and clean. We ordered the artichoke appetizer and it was delicious. We also ordered a large thin crust pizza and it was good. Nice place with good service. Would go back again.

Great pizza, if you do fresh from the oven. The by the slice pizza is unfortunately not as good since the pie is reheated. However if you get your pie fresh made to order you will thoroughly this pizza. The crust is the right thickness and cook time and the cheese is superb. Their tomato sauce is just right. And their ingredients are fresh everyday(based on the fact that I’ve been there at least 4 times in the past for weeks) Big picture you can’t go wrong if you go fresh!!!

Our favorite pizza in Fairhope! All of the celebrity pizzas are delicious, but we like the Sophia Loren and White Veggie(add ground beef) the best.

Looking at the map, looks like they’ve changed locations. Still on Fairhope Ave, but now East of Section Street. First visit, and very impressed. Imagine a couple of guys from the old neighborhood in NYC, took some old world Italian and Greek recipe’s, and opened a place in San Fancisco. That’s what we experienced tonight. We were met by the most friendly, laid back… «west coast attitude» guys, and were seated immediately. Not much to look at, but the smells were authentic, and promised good things to come. Well, the baklava on display helped too. Tried the hummus and pita bread, and not disappointed. The whole stuffed pizza caught my eye immediately, but my significant other was eyeing the lasagne. Before we could even begin our usual debate, a voice passing by suggested… «You could have both»… and kept walking. While we awaited the hummus, and were visited formally again, we asked about the prep /cook time on the whole stuffed, and were advised it would be 45 mins, which confirmed my thoughts about it being made fresh to order. Our new best friend then informed us that they prepare whole pizzas in advance, and offer them by the slice. Which came in handy, because every offering sounded amazing. We each had to try a slice of the stuffed, then she went with another slice of the Al Pacino, while I went for the white, and a «childs» serving of their spaghetti and meatball for the little one. I use parenthesis, because our daughter was served a hot, delicious serving of vermicelli and sauce, with a plump meatball that could have fed either of us adults. The slices were all fantastic. Hot, fresh, and I’m still savoring the memories of the flavors. I can’t say enough about it, and I feel guilty, because there are a few other local pizza’s I really enjoy as well, but this is our new favorite. You just can’t find crust like this outside of NY/NJ. They say it has something to do with the water up there? Maybe these guys have water shipped in? Not sure, and don’t really need the details as long as THIS is the finished product! We were offered additional slices, but two was more than either of us could finish. This saved us a bundle, and a ton of time on our original idea of getting one whole stuffed. We’ll definitely be ordering by the slice again next time just to finish going through the list of choices. Not to mention getting the phone number so next time we bring the whole family for a whole stuffed, we can get it started before we arrive. Sandwiches and other pastas were on the menu as well, along with her original idea of the lasagne, so we’ll be back very soon to try them all. Oh… and I guess you thought we had forgotten about the baklava, right? Wrong! Our new friends had observed the remnants on the plates, and brought the check… not realizing that we(she) had saved room for the baklava… so rather than taking the check back and adding the slice… we were comp’d a «free» sample! Of course free food always tastes better, but I would have given $ 8 for the slice at any bakery in NY/NJ. To the tooth, it felt like there were«97 layers», and so delicious. We’ll be back… soon. Tomorrow too soon?

Pizza was good, service was good, nothing was excellent. I’ve had better but if you are downtown and want a slice of pizza, I would still check it out!

First time I’ve ever given one star… service was fine, food was not, ordered a fresh whole pizza and from the looks of it, it wasn’t…tasted old and the toppings were frozen not fresh spinach and canned mushrooms.

Papa’s Pizza has very good service and pretty good food. They offer food other than pizza, but it is not as good. It is good place to eat if you want pizza, but if you are looking for Italian food other than pizza I would go elsewhere. But don’t get mr wrong, this is a good place to eat.

We ordered the thin crust and a Square pan thick crust. I found the thin crust a saucier pie, the thick cheesier one. Everyone has a favorite. Fast service. Pies come in one size only. 16 inch round thin crust or a 16×16 square. They do sell slices. Fast and friendly, very good for hungry families.

I wasn’t crazy about the first slice that I had here. It was thin, but not properly cooked. I tried it again recently, and really found the pie to be good even by NY standards. Its the only game in town with any authenticity.

Meh, thought I’d give it a whirl. Pizza looked like yesterday with a heavy pinch of dried herbs to give it flavor.(two slices of cheese). I’ll come back n order a fresh pie next time to see if it’s better by the pie instead of the slice.
