Hugo’s is a charming basement burger and sandwich shop in downtown Fayetteville. It’s a local place and locals, myself included, love it. Have a Derick’s Special(chicken, bacon, and Swiss on a Kaiser roll) or any of the burgers. Get a basket of hand-cut fries for the table.

I went there and the place was packed. I was able to find a seat at the bar. I ordered a hamburger and a side of fries, that was a mistake on my part, the side of fries was enough for three more people. The hamburger was fantastic. It was a great find \\

I had a great first experience at Hugo’s. I had the hot pastrami. It was delicious! The ambiance is cool and parking is accessible. Even though the wait was 40 min and there wasn’t anywhere to sit while waiting(we stood awkwardly by the bar, and it was hard to get someone’s attention to get our name on the list), my only complaint is this: the waitress took my plate from me as I was reaching for another bite. I didn’t have a chance to finish my delicious sandwich and chips. I left still hungry. I wish she had asked if i was finished before taking my plate and walking away, leaving me with my mouth hanging open.

We went to UARK for freshmen orientation and were referred to Hugo’s by a good friend. This place reminds me of the places in Boston on Newbury St. You walk down the steps into a basement. If you go during the day it takes a minute for your eyes to adjust because it is dark. Great atmosphere. The waiter was a little slow but the food and later service more than made up for it. The burger(jalapeño) was as good as it gets. The fries are fresh cut and my daughter and I split a basket. We both decided it was just the right amount of food and worth the calories. This place is a must go in Fayetteville. I imagine we will be going there every time we are in town over the next 4 years.

I’m not a burger fan. In fact, I think they’re pretty meh at best. This place has INCREDIBLE burgers that even made me question how soon before I go back! I had the blue moon burger and added bacon. It came with kettle chips, though I was too busy devouring my burger to take much notice of them. Definitely a dive feel with how dark it was. SUPER friendly staff. It’s downstairs. I highly recommend!

A Fayetteville staple! Great«dive» atmosphere and an excellent burger! The smokey cheddar is my favorite with a basket of fries for the table! The grasshopper crêpe is a must try for dessert!

Hugo’s is a very famous well-known place to eat in Fayetteville, very popular among lots of people and a cool atmosphere with overly nice people who work there. There could be a wait due to limited space but their burgers are absolutely worth it.

Was in town for a meeting and wander into the visitor center in downtown and they said this place has the best burgers, and it was amazing. I am sad this in my last night in town and that it is a 6h drive back to this fantastic little place. A must visit if you are in the area.

Fayetteville, Arkansas This place is a solid 4 stars. Typical college town atmosphere. We had the Jalapeño burger, Guacamole burger and the grilled chicken. The burgers were absolutely great. No exaggeration here, one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time. The Chicken was excellent as well. The only disappointment was my wife’s wine, I swear it was half vinegar… that’s what you get for ordering wine in a college joint.

The feel is classic café/diner in the basement of a downtown building. It was my first time visiting. The food was on point. They did lose our order at first, but comped the meal as a result. Black and Blue Chicken sandwich was great! It provided zesty and hardy flavors which complemented each other nicely. Would recommend based upon atmosphere, food, and service.

Great atmosphere and cool vibe, being down in a basement and all. Be sure to get there early because they do not do reservations and they fill up fast. I highly recommend the guacamole burger too.

Came here this past Friday night for dinner. I’ve heard good things about Hugo’s and have read a lot of the reviews on here and just needed to come check out the burgers. PARKING/LOCATION: Located just off of the Fayetteville Square/Town Center. There is street parking(free after 6pm) and some nearby parking lots. Hugo’s is located in a basement, but there is a large sign at street level. Not the most high heel friendly stairs, haha, but just hold onto the railing! WAIT: We arrived there shortly after 6pm and it was busy! Luckily we did not have to wait too long for a table though. When we walked in, it was a little confusing with where to go and who to give our name to. There is not much room to wait for your table. There is a bar area, but that was full when we got in. We just hung out by the door until it was our turn. I personally would not like to sit at a table near the door since it gets so crowded with people just standing and waiting in the aisles. AMBIANCE: This place is a casual bar, with very dim lighting. Has a cool, locals vibe to it. CUSTOMERSERVICE: Our waitress was friendly, helpful and attentive. FOOD: The burgers do not disappoint!!! Yummy! I had a hard time choosing between a few, the waitress helped me figure out what to get. She also said you can combine burgers/ingredients — good to know for those who can’t decide haha. I decided on the Blue Moon Burger with grilled onions. So delicious! My husband got the Jalapeño Cheeseburger and he loved it as well. The burgers come with chips on the side. We also ordered a basket of fries to share. I tried taking some pictures to share the deliciousness, but it was too dark! For dessert we ordered the Grasshopper Crepes. Yummy! Overall, I’m definitely wanting to come back!

Went here the other night and saw three women next to me all eating the sirloin dinner with fries and a side salad. I didn’t want the fries, so I asked the waitress if she could bring me double salad and put cheese on the sirloin burger and put it right in the middle of the salad. She said«sure!». It may sound weird, but if you’re doing low-carb, you’ll appreciate this. Great service and atmosphere. One of my favorites.

Ambience is cool. Retro décor and music. Dark as a cave because it’s in the basement. Bring your glasses to read the menu. Maybe this wasn’t the best choice for us since we’re not burger people. I had the special chef’s salad which was a lot of lettuce piled so high I could barely dig in without toppling it. I was a little disappointed. I would rather have had more cucumbers and avocado and less lettuce. My husband had the veggie burger which was unremarkable. Oh, and we got some chips and salsa to start which was huge. Could easily have filled up on those so had to fight the urge to finish them off. Cool place, good service, food was okay.

Oh come on! This is the classic basement fun«dive» but not so divvy bar. Great selection of excellent specialty rich in flavor beer beers. Selection on the menu is much more than expected. The burgers deliver. Because of the joint’s size it’s intimate, busy, fun and you feel like you’re in the right place… even though you’re hidden from street view. Music tonight is ’30’s…very cool! If Fayetteville has an old style Manhattan spot this is it.

This place feels like you’re in a dive bar until you get the feel of the groove. I can’t say they have the best fish tacos in town because I haven’t tried them all but I will say it will be hard to beat them. Very relaxed vibe from the crowd.

A nice little hole in the wall with AMAZING burgers. They had a nice selection of food. Anyone could find something to eat here. The service was great, we are about to leave with our bellies full and our moods high. I recommend the bleu moon burger if you are into bleu cheese! My husband got the whiskey tango burger that was also very delicious.

The food was delicious, however, our server was not friendly. We arrived at 8:30pm and it was packed so I understand stress levels run high but there wasn’t so much as a hello or kind word spoken from our waitress, even once the place cleared out. A little patience and a friendly smile go a long way. I order the jalapeño burger which was cooked perfectly and oh so juicy. We also got a basket of fries and I would highly recommend getting the ranch to dip them in. Overall, love Hugo’s… I just hope next time we get a server that can lighten up.
