Kwan Tip Thai is consistently the best Thai restaurant we have ever tried. My husband and I head over whenever we are in the area. Today we had the Basil chicken and the Red Curry, medium spice, with chicken and fresh rolls and all of it was 5 stars. Highly recommend.

Second Thai food experience and it was pretty good. My friend, who accompanied me, said it was the best Thai place in the are and he took everyone there. The restaurant is kind of out there and not the easiest to find. Bright green building with a solid interior. It’s actually quite nice and small. Large variety of choices in the menu. As this was my second Thai food experience I ordered what my friend ordered. So I got the chicken phad Thai, 4 star and a side of pot stickers. The phad Thai was great, it’s difficult for me to describe as I don’t know what it was. But rice noodle dish with thinly sliced chicken with chopped peanuts. It was a bit on the south side though… Lol. Anyways great place would return.

My lady and i decided to give this place a shot because of the Unilocal reviews it has received. Reviews were spot on! 4.5 stars! The food is excellent!!! We had Fried Tofu, Pad thai, Kwan tip fried rice & panang curry. All were perfectly delicious. The service was also excellent. The only thing i did not like was my bedroom is bigger than this place. We luckily got the one and only open table. I think my last fortune cookie said good fortune is waiting just walk through the door… Thanks for the advice Panda express!

You could tell this place is most likely owned and run by a family. Once you step it I felt like I walked into my grandmas dining room, which is nice and cozy. My girlfriend and I came here twice together. Service is great from the moment you walk in. The server we usually have is attentive and makes sure you’re enjoying your food. I have ordered the beef phad see ew and a chicken phad Thai on two separate occasions. First the phad see ew; it taste straight up like fish sauce and the noodles were very sticky and chewy. Beef was okay and the broccoli was very hard to chew. So the next time I came to visit, I decided to try something else, chicken phad Thai. The entire dish was dry and didn’t have much flavor. My girlfriend ordered the tofu yellow curry. She doesn’t like spicy food so she gets 0 on how hot the dish is. It tasted it was like at least 2 stars. BUT This dish was good, just has a natural spicy kick to it. We also got the fried ice cream, which is the best! Probably the highlight of my meal :)

This Thai restaurant makes THE best yellow curry! The potatoes don’t taste bland at all and the soup tastes perfect. I always order curry with zero stars because I can’t tolerate spicy food at all and even with zero stars it’s still a bit too spicy… My girlfriend who usually eats 3 – 4 stars even said it was spicy! But I deal with it because it’s just that good. Their fried ice cream is a must for dessert! As for their pad see ew, it wasn’t as good as I had hoped. The noodles aren’t as flavorful as it should be and overall it was very bland. The atmosphere feels very much like you’re at your grandmas house to eat! I love that. I’ve been here a handful of times and every time I’ve gone, there were probably only 2 – 3 other people. Not busy at all, but it’s easy to drive past. I’m so glad I found my new favorite Thai restaurant!

I would say my overall experience with Kwan Tip Thai was more of a 3.5 star experience. You know that a place is doing something right when they have 4.5 stars on Unilocal.I don’t see too many Thai places in Federal Way so I was pretty excited to give this one a shot. It’s a little bit of a hole in the wall, but you’ll easily find it along Pacific Highway. The place itself is actually pretty small and doesn’t seat very many people. When we came there, most people were ordering take out rather than dining in. Although tables were few, we were able to be seated right away. I like the layout of the menu, it’s simple and easily categorized. There were a lot of your typical Thai place dishes here, as well as some dishes that are more unique to Kwan Tip. My partner and I decided to mix it up a little. We started with the Thai iced tea which I thought was pretty good. It was sweet, but not overwhelmingly sweet. There was a lot of ice in the cup so you didn’t get a full cup’s worth, but it was still refreshing to have. We tried the basil fried rice which we were a little disappointed in. There is definitely flavor in the dish, but it was lacking the basil flavor. If the dish is called basil fried rice, we expect it to really pack a punch in terms of basil. It was still a well seasoned fried rice, which I thought tasted better the next day actually. We also got the swimming rama which was probably the star dish of the meal. The spinach and peanut sauce went perfectly together and we were able to add our choice of protein to the dish. Light and simple, but so delicious! I typically like trying one of the original curries like red or green, but decided to go outside the box today. We ordered the kao soi to mix things up. It’s a yellow curry that is mildly sweet. It comes with veggies and noodles inside the dish. It is a bit coconut-y but at the same time, more on the savory side. It’s definitely something I’ve never tried before. I don’t know if I would get it again, but it was a nice little change from the curries we’ve gotten before. Service was good and we were checked up on. It’s a good Thai place, but not a place I would completely rave about. It’s better than other places, and quite possibly the best place in Federal way, but it’s not the best I’ve ever tried.

This place is nasty. I came here with my husband and the restaurant smells like throw up. The floor and table was sticky. And the cook had on shorts and a wife beater flip-flops and an apron.

Very good Thai, if I lived in the area I am sure it would be my Thai go-to. Fresh ingredients, bright flavors, good service, fair prices. All around great, family-run restaurant.

Really delicious Thai food that is reasonably priced. The eggplant basil that I ordered was perfect. Also we enjoyed the mango sticky rice for desert.

Fantastic place for Thai food. I’ve been wanting to try it forever. And I’m glad I finally did. No regrets. The crispy chicken is bomb. Can’t wait to try their other noodle options.

Decent Thai. The portions are on the smaller side. The Tom yum soup wasn’t a stand out, it’s comparable to what I make at home from a paste I get at 99 Ranch. The spring rolls were really gummy. The garlic chicken was delicious. Pad Thai was undercooked and peanuts were not put on the side as requested, leaving one person in our group unable to eat it. The larb was ok but served with cabbage cut in thin slivers so it couldn’t be used to scoop up the larb.

I’m giving this place a 4 stars only because the location was a bit tight, but overall the food deserves a 5 star rate. My friend and I ordered the garlic chicken, basil pork fried rice and the beef panang curry. Let me tell you, I despised curry and hated it from a bad experience at a previous restaurant and when I tried it today at this restaurant; OMG it made me fall back in love with curry… It wasn’t too sweet or too pasty. It was the perfect blend between the coconut milk and the curry paste. The garlic chicken and the fried rice were very delicious and filling. Overall, I have no negative vibes or anything bad to say about this place because their food speaks for itself.

This place is AMAZING! I had been driving past this place for years. Finally looked up Thai places by me on Unilocal and found this gem! Absolutely EVERYTHING I’ve had has been delicious! And they also have great friendly service. Their lunch specials are great deals! If you haven’t been… YOUNEEDTOGO!

First time coming here with my brother by inivation. My cousins, who have been here recommended the Kwan Tip Thai fried rice and Pad See Ew. I got it 4 star while my brother got it 2 stars. The spices definitely matched the levels, which I was really happy about it. Our waiter was really kind and even complimented me.(: The flavors were absolutely delicious and definitely tasted like authentic Thai food! Our water was always refilled. Although he did give the wrong dish to the wrong person which confused us but no biggie. It was hard to catch our waiter for the check however.

Wowza. This place was excellent. Small quiet atmosphere. I drove right past it the fist time because it is so small. Quick service and very good food. I went here with 3 co-workers and we all loved the flavors of our dishes. If you are in the area don’t miss this place.

So it has finally happened… on our most recent trip to this place, we found a bandaid in our pad thai dish, and our chicken in that said pad thai was undercooked. I cannot tell you how disappointed I am with this experience, because we honestly thought we had finally found our new go-to thai place in the federal way area. The service here is still good, and the food tastes amazing. But after seeing the bandaid AND raw chicken on the same visit, it is extremely difficult to fathom… and not sure I can get over this to make a return trip here.

It is very easy to find bad Thai food around these parts. Thankfully KTT is not among them. Before moving out here we had a favorite Thai place that we loved and I think KTT is going to make us just as happy. The food has been absolutely great and the prices are not bad at all. Most importantly they are consistent — every order of pad thai has been made exactly the same(delicious). Their chicken satay is excellent. Last time I was in, however, they were out of it. Better to have an item be unavailable than to serve up something that wasn’t ready to be served. The majority of their appetizers are priced at $ 3.50 so you can mix and match and try things you otherwise might not have tried. The calamari and stuffed chicken wings are the exception at $ 4.95. I usually order an extra stuffed wing to save for lunch the next day. Service has been polite and friendly. There can be a bit of a language barrier but it has not been a big issue. Lunch specials are very well priced and I have been amazed this place isn’t jammed at lunch time. If I lived in the area they would see me so often they would think I worked there. I love you Kwan Tip Thai!

Oh man… I have only been here twice but after my first visit I hadn’t stopped thinking about them! Their lunch specials are a great value for what you get! I had the garlic chicken lunch combo. Boy was I stuffed! They had ample sized portions for a lunch combo! This time, I ordered my pad tai to go. I scarfed all of it down, despite the fact that I may have asked for one too many stars because it was a bit spicy for me. The garlic chicken lunch combo came with chicken pot sticker, steamed jasmine rice, stir-fried broccoli and carrots. The chicken is no joke. It really is garlicky. I wish my work or my home was closer. I would eat here every day. I probably would get super fat though, because I would really be eating here everyday. My second time ordering out I went with their pad thai. You can really gauge a thai restaurant by their pad thai, very basic, traditional entrée you would order at a thai restaurant. Man, again, if they weren’t so far from where I live, I would get it all the time. It’s your basic pad thai with the thin rice noodles, stir-fried eggs, green onions, bean sprouts and ground peanuts on top. I think that each thai place has their own way of making their sauce. I have had many pad thai dishes since I discovered it years ago, theirs has to be one of the best ones I’ve had. I’d have to say they are on my top three list of best pad thai. I cannot wait to come back again. Just writing this is making me so hungry. I am hoping that I can come here and actually dine in. When I waited for my food to be ready, the wait staff looked attentive to the dine in guests. The ambiance is nice, chill, romantic for dinner as they lights are dim. The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated. I love the variety in their menu as my boyfriend does not care for the noodle dishes(he is crazy I know), but glad they have rice dishes so I can have my noodle fix!

Hands down the BEST Thai food south of Seattle. Actually, it might even just be the best in the whole seattle area! Family-owned, this restaurant is definitely a hidden gem in a random plaza in Federal Way. EVERYTHING I’ve tried here is delicious. And I’ve tried a LOT. Papaya salad, Panang curry, fried rice, pad see ew beef is HEAVENLY the beef melts in your mouth, pad Thai is amazing and not ketchup-ey like most Thai places nowadays, CRISPYGARLIC chicken is the BEST in the area. I thought bai tong had the best crispy garlic chicken– no. Kwan tip thai does. Theirs is way more meatier and not as candy sweet as bai tong’s. Bai tong’s crispy garlic chicken now seems like all fried batter and 1% chicken meat. Service is great. Interior is small but homey. But most importantly the food is just on point. Now I’m craving some…

We’ve been wanting to come to Kwan Tip Thai for some time and it was great. We were greeted by an older gentleman who was very friendly and told us we could sit anywhere. He quickly returned and brought the menus and filled our glasses with water. The appetizer menu here is very reasonably priced and is a nice sized portion for a side dish for two people. We decided to order the Thai fish cakes and it comes with four small cakes. They have a nice flavor of kafir lime leaf and come with a side of Nam Jim, a sweet and spicy dipping sauce sprinkled with peanuts and cucumbers. For our entrées we ordered Thai fried rice with chicken and the Pad Kee Mao with tofu. The Pad Kee Mao was spicy as I like it and the balance of flavors was pretty close to perfect so it only needed a tiny bit of fish sauce. There were nice sized pieces of tofu and a nice mix of vegetables, including tomatoes which were nice and firm. Usually we do not order the Thai fried rice because it never tastes as good as it does in Thailand and so it is usually a disappointment. That is not the case here! The Thai fried rice tasted exactly as it did in Thailand! What a pleasant surprise. If you like the simplicity of the Thai fried rice I recommend getting this. They cooked the egg on top perfectly and there were little bits of tomato and onion as you would find in Thailand. They did add a little bit of broccoli but if you’re a purist, you can just ask them to leave the broccoli out. I recommend giving this place a try and enjoy the true flavors of Thailand. We will definitely be back. Good food and good service.
