Safeway

Went to this location tonight to pick up my prescription with my friend, while waiting in line at the pharmacy I made a comment to my friend that I felt badly for the lady that had been waiting at the register for 10 minutes while others passed her by to go the the next register. All of a sudden and out of nowhere this «lady» starting screaming and swearing at us. When we attempted to go past her to the awaiting clerk, she pushed my friend and was swearing and yelling at us. By the time we got to the clerk at the counter the store security arrived and accused my friend of pushing this crazy woman who was still swearing and ranting for no reason. I explained to the security person that this woman pushed my friend. The entire time this looney woman was swearing and ranting while this security person did nothing. Completely disgusting lack of professional handling by store personnel. Unacceptable lack of security displayed by store personnel. We felt threatened and the situation was completely unsafe, I will never go here again.

I came here last night to buy a bus pass. The girl at the customer service counter told me they were sold out. I asked her if they were really sold out or if someone else could come and help me get one. She just stared at me for a minute then said to go to the other Safeway in Federal Way. I asked her if she knew for a fact they had bus passes before I drove over there, and she said yes. Luckily, they had them, but they didn’t know what they were doing.
I use to come to this Safeway for the pharmacy in 2011 but after 6 months of the prescriptions being filled wrong, not being filled on time, and/​or the pharmacy charging the wrong amount, I left.
I’m not a fan of Safeway in general because they are overpriced.

This Safeway is right next to a gym that I workout at. So for me it’s pretty decent.
Only downside is that the area is not so great, and seems shady to me. Not clean enough? No! But it’s is a Safeway next to a lot of establishments so I think they get traffic a lot.
There’s always a line and they do not have the self checkout which is kind of a deal breaker for me.

I am a huge fan of Ahmed, a pharmacist in the Safeway store. Elaine is great too. They are always patient and kind, Ahmed gives a perfect and pain-​free flu shot too. Thank you for renovating the inside, finally– but always lock your car because there are thieves in the parking lot.

It’s clean, it’s organized and when I came in, not busy. Those are all +‘s in the ol book.
I got what I needed and checked out quick. Cashier was not chatty, straight to the point which is fine.

One can only hope this is one of the Safeway’s that will become a Haggens. Only positive there is the Alaska USA credit union, where they understand customer service. I needed a can of wax beans which I have used for the last 40 years to make a four bean salad. I couldn’t find them, so at checkout I asked the young man if they had waxed beans and I got a deer in headlights look. He did ask the checker next to him and she immediately said no. I don’t think she knew what they were either. Plus Safeway is so over priced as is Haggens but a new breath of air would be welcomed.

Found everything I needed and went through the checkout with relative ease. Janice checked us out quickly and was very nice and since she was from california, a bigger plus. Made me feel like I was at home! I’ll continue shopping here at this one!

The people that work at Starbucks are terrible, rude, and offensive. Why? Because today I was getting done with my shoppings and I decide to go for a coffee and I waited at line for about 10 mins and when it was about to be my turn this girl with red hair said to me «I can’t help you because I’m sick and I got to leave» then I ask her «what should a do then» and she say «I don’t know it’s not my problem talk my manager» so then I wait it an other 10 mins for the other girl to help but all she was doing is acting like there’s I wasn’t there and she didn’t even wanna look at me. Probably not gonna shop for coffee there again.

Went here around midnight last night. There were plenty of people working. Had to stand in line down an aisle with only one register up. There was about 10 people in line, took about 15 minutes to get out of there once in line.
Got home to cook dinner, I started to unravel the cabbage, it was full of maggots inside. Disgusting! Last time I buy produce there, or shop there at night.

I’ve downgraded this Safeway to average at best. It was a great place to shop a decade ago. Good selection, good quality, good pricing. but slowly this store, and likely Safeway in general, has been changing. Meat and produce quality have dropped while prices have gone up (as compared to other chains). The poultry that used to be fresh and pink is now gray. The hot deli where one could pick up some decent ready to go meals has cut serving size and raised prices excessively. One example are their chicken wings. Used to get #20 for $ 5. Now they have #8 for $ 9. They cut the price a day before expiration but that’s gotten me sick with food poisoning in the past.
On the upside they have gussied up the place. It’s clean for the most part. They have a big pharmacy section, a Starbucks and a florist. all nice extras but as a consumer I’d much rather have high quality foods at a reasonable day to day price.
The one kudo I would give them is their $ 5 Fridays… They have some good buys then. but I shop all week long and even $ 5 Friday doesn’t make up for the across the board increase in their daily pricing. which I’m sure is kind of the point.

If I go to Safeway, this is the one I prefer to go to! There seems to be more of a selection/​variety here as far as produce and meats. The isles are spacious as they can be for a grocery store. The staff is fairly friendly with the exception of one person working the hot food/​deli area!(They seem absolutely miserable and unfriendly. can’t even crack a smile to save their life… if you ever go here. you’ll know as soon as you bump into them.) I like that Safeway has their Open Nature products! The lines can be startling at times but that’s just how it goes; it’s a grocery store, but they do seem expedite as quickly as possible when that happens! They have a floral area and even a small limited video rental section. I believe the pharmacy is a fairly new addition too. And if you save your change/​coins they have a Coinstar kiosk here too!
Then there is the convenience of having Starbucks inside and the gas station!
Tip: Avoid the hot foods/​deli area, the so-​called «Chinese food» is mediocre at best and it’s probably been sitting under those heat lamps for-​EVAH. eva!

We have shopped at Safeway for years and probably is where we are the most comfortable shopping BUT things are changing and our loyalty may go with it.
First of all I hate their new on-​line coupon program. Who sits down at the computer before they go shopping and checks off 100+ items to add them to their «club card» to get a discount I thought the advantage of the «club card» was you didn’t have to coupon cut. Also how come you no longer have an advantage at the Safeway Gas station — you use to get .03 off the price — not any more?
Add to that — they changed the store — put products in different places — and we (plus I have heard from others) can’t find anything. Yes — in time we will figure it out by why do we have to.
Next complaint is the express lanes. I am tired of having 10 or so items and get behind the person that just completed their monthly shopping in the 15 or less lane. Safeway encourages this two ways — 1. If no one is in that lane — the cashier will tell the people at the end of the next line to come over. (Wrong in two ways — first why at the end and not the next person and second — if they have more than 15 items they should not be there) and 2. I have had the manager tell me that if the express line is smaller — feel free to get into it no matter how many items you have — really.
Finally how come if we shop in the evening we don’t get the same service as the day time shoppers? If you shop during the day you get your groceries bagged — at night — sometimes you do and sometimes you don’t but they never offer the «bag your own grocery discount»
Safeway prices are fair — you can do better — but if they are doing it right — the service is great. I love that they thank you for shopping by saying Mr. /​Mrs. rather than thinking I am their friend and using my first name. Their products are fresh and this store looks clean and nice.

What I like about this Safeway:
–They recently renovated the inside, so it’s nice, well-​organized, and well-​stocked.
–There is a gas station nearby with well-​priced gas.
–It’s a Safeway. I like Safeway.
What I don’t like about this Safeway:
–No self check-​out line. During non-​busy hours (early in the morning, for me), I have been stuck behind 4 customers with only one person working the check-​out lines, not sure if I’d be able to make it to work on time. I have also had to look for a Safeway employee to check me out, because no one was working the check-​out lines when I was ready to make my purchase. There was a bell for me to ring, but if you’re on the other side of the store, can you really hear it? Evidently not.

I don’t mind this Safeway, in fact I think it’s one of the better ones around here imo. It is for sure one of the bigger locations and seems less busy as the others (at least when I go).
Its your typical Safeway store but minus some of the parking lot swindlers that always ask for some «spare change since their car broke down and they need money for the bus». I’ve noticed this can be a trend around some stores in the area.
All in all its your regular Safeway but also has gas here too so that is a nice option to have.

I haven’t been to this particular Safeway in a long time but I was in the neighborhood having breakfast with a friend and had to stop in for a few items. First, they have a gas station — they didn’t have that before, so that is kind of nice. They have a good size produce section, pharmacy, bakery, and deli. I ran in for bread items (buns, bread, sandwich thins) and they had them all. They were stocked aplenty and the expiration dates were about 10 days out… not bad.
I had to grab a gift card and with 4x the rewards on that one — it was a huge help towards my gas savings. I also had to pick up tortilla chips and they had a few to choose from.
Cashier was friendly and bagging clerk was helpful — I politely declined any assistance (I only had two bags) but loved that she offered it anyways. I know this sounds silly but I love that they use my name at the end of the transaction. I’m old fashioned and love being called Mrs. (insert last name) — everywhere else I use my first name — I love being married and being a Mrs.
In closing, they had everything I needed and service was good. Nothing that knocked my socks off but a pleasant visit. Thanks!

Had an order in advance for a Hello Kitty birthday cake. Just got a call today (the Birthday is tomorrow) saying they don’t have Hello Kitty. I am not upset they didn’t have it but more upset they let me know only a day before the birthday. It’s something they should have made sure they had at least a few days before making the cake.
I was lucky Albertsons had it and is able to make it on short notice.
A similar situation happened to my sister in law, I don’t know if it was this Safeway or another one. She ordered a Tinkerbell cake and on the day of the birthday when she picked it up, they didn’t make the same Tinkerbell cake she ordered. They told her they didn’t have it and made a different one. They never called her to let her know, because she had no time to look anywhere else. she had to buy the cake she didn’t order.
I would go somewhere else for birthday cakes.

This is a pretty average Safeway. One from the days past that they brought into the current branding. Not sure the exterior is as «horrible» as others have mentioned, seems pretty normal. Perhaps, since it doesn’t look like the sterile business/​condo look that this country has stooped to makes it ugly, who knows.
Glad to see that they got a gas station, I used to always get gas at Safeway, until I lived practically next to Costco, which is where I fill up now out of convince, I don’t even know if the prices compare.
This store always has fresh produce and their meat is of good quality. Being a usual WinCo shopper, I will venture to this or the other local Safeway for a higher quality item once in a while.

Store is ugly as heck outside. I’ve never seen such an ugly and beat up brick tan exterior! The inside is decent with some friendlier service. This is the only Safeway store when in the area I will go to. It has a gas station which is neat. What I don’t like is its ugly aesthetics and it just seems beat down for a newer remodeled store.

New Safeway gas station has arrived. Not sure if this is going to be profitable, but it’s better than swy sitting on cash.
They have totally revamped their bakery. So if you’re a bread lover (eg. eat at prna) it’s worth checking out. I do not think in these tough times they can compete with some of the asian supermarkets in Federal Way (ie. H-​Mart, etc), but they do have some deals if you’re looking hard for them.
With the gas and their store, I think they’re trying to be a Costco wannabe.

This is one of the Safeway’s that’s relatively close to where I live. Not the closest, but not too far to make me complain about driving to it.
Let me just start off by adding to what Nancy C. said. If this Safeway is one of the more recently remodeled Safeway’s it sure as heck doesn’t look like it. The brick exterior is not working & ugly to look at. On to the review of the store however.
I usually come here when I’m making small grocery trips. That’ll change once they build the Safeway gas station that’s planned for this location. I usually am able to pretty much find what I need without a problem. The aisles are pretty big for a Safeway. They have a huge produce section FYI.
You’ll find what you need here. The deals are pretty good if you have a Safeway card. It’s free to sign up for one, so it’s totally on you if you’re not taking advantage as a consumer.
Service is friendly. I wouldn’t call it speedy. It’s just average. The store is kept clean. Parking isn’t a problem, because the parking lot is huge.
FYI: As of 7−8−11 the area that the Safeway gas station will be located in has been fenced off, along with markings, etc on the ground. Construction is about to start on it. Yesss!
This is great seeing as how areas like Auburn, Kent, Seattle, Shoreline, etc have at least one Safeway gas & Federal Way has zero! This will be the first. Finally I won’t have to drive so far for gas. Enjoy when it arrives people!
