We went to see the musician listed on website. There was a private party and no music. Love the idea that they portray, but if you’re going to keep a website update it when things change.

The Green Turtle is exactly the kind of bar one would expect to find in Fernandina Beach. While they’re not far from the center of things, they are a little off the path and definitely have a crowd of local regulars. We’ve stopped in here a couple times on our last few visits to FB and have always enjoyed our time ‘swimming’ at the Turtle. Cheap, but strong drinks. Fun bartenders. Great crowd. You really can’t ask for much more from a neighborhood bar.

Fun little bar with a huge outside area. They have a DJ spinning records on the porch during the week and live music on weekends. Friendly bartenders and a very mixed and eclectic crowd. This place has that Key West feel more than some of the places in Key West. Dog friendly and very comfortable place… we’re fans!

With all bar seats full, we were kicked out at 11:30 on Fat Tuesday by a less-than-pleasant bartender, who wouldn’t even let us finish our beers inside. The green turtle has always been one of our Fernandina favorites, but that won’t last long if we receive similar treatment in the future.

I was from out of town but seemed like a cool local bar. Live music was decent and bar staff very friendly. $ 7 Ketel One and so it beat the prices at the Ritz.

The Green Turtle is probably my favorite bar in downtown Fernandina. Not interested in the big crowds of the Palace? I don’t blame you! This place is a great alternative where you can get a great bottle of wine, or interesting beer, sit on a bench and listen to whatever musician they have playing that night. The bartender gave us great recommendations on our visit and it’s actually how I discovered my new favorite malbec. Like other reviews have said, it’s a mostly older crowd but that means less rowdy. I don’t think this is the kind of place where you’ll get your ass grabbed while walking to the bathroom(I’m looking at you, Palace!) Overall, this is probably where the locals hang, and I don’t blame them! Can’t wait to hit this joint up again.

When we go to Fernandina Beach we consider the Green Turtle«Home Sweet Home». It’s a great bar and we always have fun here. They have added a full liquor bar so everyone should be able to find something to love. Live music on the porch and a cool night is just perfect. It’s a great place to start your night or end your night. Relaxing, friendly, and fun.

The Green Turtle was quite the happening place in downtown Fernandina Beach! Live music on the patio and a packed crowd made the environment welcoming, «local», and a great experience. There’s a distinct older crowd that flocks to this place, but to me that means a less rowdy crowd, men that hold the door open for you and an easy going evening. We were able to snag a table on the patio of the next door business, which was perfect. String lights. Dollars tacked to the ceiling. Cold Modelo. Jimmy Buffett cover songs.

Agree with other review, welcoming and right at home. Esmerelda made us feel like a local and gave us the best recommendation for dinner, even called and made a reservations for us! Espana, around the corner was the best meal, all week. The fisherman’s stew better than a meal in Barcelona. Will be back, I hope!

This place is as laid back cool as it gets. While not on a beach, this is the ultimate beach bar(again, with the exception of it not being on an actual beach). I always stop in for drinks when I’m on The Island. Great neighborhood. Short walk to the water downtown, definitely stop in and enjoy the vibe.

This is a laid back place to have a great drink and listen to music. The ping pong table outside is fun!

This is our local go to bar! On any given day or night when you walk in you might spot the cutest beagle you’ve ever seen lounging on a bench. Your always greeted with a smile and you will probably run into your neighbor! The prices aren’t bad and if there is not room inside head outside and grab a picnic table. They just added ping pong tables and there is typically a band especially on the weekend.

Enjoyed our night here! It was small comfortable bar with friendly staff and people. Drinks were good as were the prices.

I was recommended this bar by a local. It was fun, good porch atmosphere, laid back but if u expect a bar to be open until closing time, you will be sorely disappointed. We had our ping pong paddles stolen from our hands at 1:15A.M. and when I went to pay my tab at 1:30 they had locked the doors to the bar. I had to ask to be let inside to give them my money! When I left the green turtle, my sober ride drove past THEPALACE(Oldest bar in Florida) and it was still happening and still accepting people’s cash without locking them out. I will hesitate to go to the green turtle when I come back but won’t hesitate to go to the palace.

Small, but just the right atmosphere! No strange looks for anyone realizing I’m an outsider. Cheap drinks and a cozy bar. Too cold to explore the outside amenities.

A+ We just took a little trip to Amelia Island to visit our friend LeeAnn. We had a blast and after every meal we ended up at the Green Turtle. Can’t say enough about how wonderful this little bar is. It’s like someone decided to turn their beach house into a bar. Great Decision Green Turtle! We will be back(soon) and we will cap every night off with a stop at the Green Turtle!

Green Turtle Tavern is a cute little place in the heart of «downtown» Fernandina Beach. The ambiance is adorable and inviting, with the appropriate green light on the porch. It’s tiny inside, with a couple of cute adirondack-style chairs and the rest of the seating is all at the bar. My friend and I came here in search of good beer(hard to find on this little island!) and only had one here — all they had in the«craft beer» selection was Sierra Nevada. My friend ordered food, but then when we discovered a mini-brewpub down the street(thanks to Unilocal!) she decided to cancel her order. Ten minutes after she’d placed her order, they hadn’t even started to make her food. If you want a dive bar, this might be your place. But it’s just your average bar.

This was a fun place! We heard the music and stopped in. The bartender was super friendly as were the people around the bar. We went outside to listen to the bad and my only complaint(as always) was the number of smokers. I absolutely hate cigarette smoke — ick. We played some ping-pong and danced around to some music which was great fun.

I swear, you only see places like this in movies. Max J.‘s description is right on — It is not a dive bar. It is totally a hippy bar. It’s a little dark, humid and small, and the outdoor area is decorated with Christmas lights, old license plates and sand! We were severely overdressed entering this bar and had to leave after one drink. We also met a group of drunk women in their 50’s and 60’s, who tried to follow us to the next bar when we left. The best way to describe it is: interesting and different. Not sure I’d return. I would wear flip flops and something short next time because it gets hot inside the bar. They have a large beer list and a few different types of wine.
