Since I live in the area I’ve been to this location a few times. It is just fast food and most times it’s ok. I went this morning and the staff was rude and acting as if I was bothering them because I had a coupon. Will be awhile before I go back here.

I’ve been to this location several times throughout the years. It’s always just been satisfactory. It’s fast food, after all. But yesterday I went and had to wait for quite a while just to ORDER at the counter. When the cashier did came to take it there was not an ounce of apology in the«Sorry for the wait». No smile or emotion on her face. The teens being obnoxious and dropping f-bombs at a pretty loud sound level was not enjoyable either(and I’m not against the f-word, just again saying it so unnecessarily loudly in a public place where there are children). A consistent problem with this location — the personalities or lack there of. I can’t remember the last time I had anyone smile at me at this location. Too bad. If you are working in a people industry at least try to smile so that the people you are serving don’t feel as if it’s a chore for you to wait on them.

From now on I will be driving to 13 and Woodward if I want Mcdonalds. This Mcdonalds has the absolute worst service. Against my better judgement I went there for a breakfast sabdwich last week at 9:15. I arrived at the pick up window at 9:23 and was told to pull up because my sandwhich wasn’t ready. At 9:42(19 minutes after being told to pull up) a worker came out and told me they were out of bacon and uf I wanted my money back I’d have to go in and ask for it at the counter. I was so angry(and late for a meeting) that I left without my sandwich or my $ 6.12. NEVER wasting my time or money there again. Also, the worker acted annoyed that she even had to walk the 30 feet to tell me I wouldn’t be getting my breakfast. Pretty sad when you can’t even handle working fast food.

I felt it only fair to update my review to three stars since the last few times I’ve grabbed breakfast through their drive-thru they haven’t botched my order and the cashier girls are always smiling and friendly.

Ferndale McDonald’s wins the Inconsistency Award of 2011 in the fast food category. It’s probably the best fast food choice in Ferndale, but that isn’t saying much when the competition is Taco Hell, the Dunkin Donutless, and Wendyzzz… Tim Horton’s, being an ethnic Canadian restaurant, doesn’t factor into this race.* McDonald’s does cheap, fast, and vaguely foodlike with ease. There are few surprises at this store when it comes to delivering your food hot, but«like you ordered» falls right off the spectrum depending on the hour you show up. Evening rushes and later at night are guaranteed times to end up with the wrong order altogether — my Chicken McGrill was a Big Mac with large fries, and on another occasion, my small diet Coke turned into a milkshake. I think inside service may be better than the drive thru, but let’s face it. If I’m at a McDonald’s it’s because I am too lazy to open a fridge or a cabinet, pour something into a skillet, or entertain the notion of actually opening doors and standing about. I want my meal on the run, yesterday, with as few casualties to wallet and stomach as possible. As Billy H. noted, check for your straws, napkins, and condiments! I guarantee one will be missing unless you have the luck of the Oirish*, and the American leprechauns sneak a wad of M-stamped tissues into your bag. I am fairly accustomed to finding no spoon with my yoghurt(aren’t they attached to the lid) and other oversights. The other glaring omission of this McDonald’s is speedy service through the drive thru at night. I usually get here after 9PM when other places aren’t open or the kitchens stop serving dinner. I should know better by now and just duck into the WAB. But this late, I’m usually starved or between places and a quick meal is one less thing I have to think about. I hate cooling my heels in their drive thru where a sea of red tail lights never seems to ebb and leave me in sight of my meal. To their credit I don’t often get cold food like Wendy’s next door, though I might end up with something I didn’t ask for. If they could speed things up and handle the little essentials of straw and spoon, I’d be a happier girl on the rare occasions I show up. * Yes, I realize it is a doughnut and more restaurant. See where I’m from? It gets an exemption. Trust me on this.

The drive thru is a problem here. Our office ordered several meals and we were shorted an entire meal including the drink. I am on a deadline today and I had to drive back up there to get my lunch. The manager made it clear she didn’t care and would not even politely say they were sorry of the inconvenience. There is a Wendy’s right next door to this McDonalds and that is where I will going from now on!

As McDonald’s go, this location ranks right in the middle. The food is fresh and the service is friendly, but when you go through the drive-thru you must be vigilant; otherwise, you when you arrive home, you will find the server did not provide a straw, ketchup, or salt. I can look past the ketchup and salt, but I take exception to not providing a straw when I order a large diet Coke. How is it possible to overlook providing a basic like straw? GEEZ
