I’m a little worried. I’m worried that Walmart might be positioning to drum another local grocery chain out of town as the Scolari’s chain is dwindling. This location might be the next on the chopping block but until that day comes where Walmart is the only game in town, I will continue to make excuses to come when visiting the parents. They have many of the products l like especially now that I am on my lifetime health kick. I shall do what I can to support the Scolari’s mission to provide for Fernley.

Multiple times I’ve asked for help with produce or meats and get the b.s. Answer to why the store or department worker cannot assist me… This last time, they refused to cut a meat product in half(it’s just two of us) and was told they couldn’t because«of the way the meat was sliced when packaged…» REALLY!!! Keep your marked up and poorly packaged meats… I’m headed over to Wal-Mart

This place reminds me of Bel-Air, Raley’s and Nob Hill in California, EVERYTHING here is way OVERPRICED! But I guess they feel since there’s only two grocery stores here, they and Wal-Mart, they can charge whatever! I usually avoid both and just do my shopping at Winco in Reno! Or I utilize the Fallon Wal-Mart! Although I give the employees here 5 stars!

Coming here for some basic grocery, is about the only time I come here. With the layout an not being really familiar with where everything is im not afraid to ask for some assistance. The employees not only can they tell you, which isle they have the drop everything attitude and will take you to that certain product you are looking for. Like every store your having some good and some bad things to deal with. The Good: The store is well located, signage for almost everything, prices are about average. The Bad: Not enough staff on hand, not saying it is a bad thing but if it is a slow day I totally understand. But other than that I really enjoy coming here. I come about once or twice a month.

Specifically the deli staff– I’m pretty sure the consensus here is that they are friendly. I’m sure they mean well but are EXTREMELY slow. Sometimes they cop attitudes with each other which makes the shopping experience a bit awkward. Good meats and cheeses but that’s thanks to Boars Head otherwise the deli isn’t worth it.

This store is always clean. Honestly, i have no complaints except for one. I would have given a 4th star but we got one of the pizza from the deli that you bake at home. It was terrible! The pizza had the worst after taste and was mushy!

Clean store and a good option when the only other place in town is Walmart. That being said, the service is poor at best. During my last two trips I had the same cashier. The only conversation she had with me was to ask if I wanted paper or plastic and if I was using debit or credit. Outside of that she spent the entire time taking to the bagger and complaining about the job. It was amazing how she fluidly went thru the transaction without so much as looking at me and acknowledging my existence. Very poor customer experience overall. And, this was just the last two trips. Prior to those trips I experienced very similar«service». Oh well, it’s that or the same at Walmart and at least the lines aren’t long at Scolari’s.

I have a family of 5 and we love Scolaris, not only do I like supporting a local business, their staff is always nice and helpful, many of them have been there for YEARS upon Years which is nice and also says a lot for their company. Great customer service, I disagree with some other posters regarding the lines and/or waiting I have almost never experienced having to wait in line quite the opposite in comparison to shopping at walmart. Some items CAN be overpriced, but watch for the sales, because when they have things on sale it is usually far better than Walmart«everyday low cost», Quality is SO much better, prices are always correct at the register, and for us we actually end up spending a lot less on groceries because we aren’t impulse buying a lot of stuff that we don’t need.

Stopped once again on the way to Burning Man. The water machines worked great this time, though I was about a week ahead of the crowd. They had all the food and supplies I needed, prices and selection were great. I always recommend bypassing Reno and going directly through Fernley, making this my last stop. Also — why go to Walmart when you can support a local business?

My visits to this particular market are usually short. I go and grab a big can of Budweiser and some flowers for my Dad, and that’s about it. Waiting in line is never an issue, rather, something that I have no complaints about. I’m able to get my usual items and head on out to the cemetery close by without any problems.

If you use coupons, make sure you are not in a hurry when you visit this store. It is nice that they will double 3 coupons up to $ 1 in value, however, they study each and every coupon(even the ones they are not doubling) and call managers to the check stands to ask questions constantly. Scolari’s has high prices on most items when you compare them to Walmart. Occasionally, they have good sale prices. They usually only have one to two checkers working, so the lines are normally long.

Its your friendly local grocery store. Im from the bay area and this would be comparable to Safeway. Its not as big but has all the necessities.

Before Wal-Mart came to town, making Scolari’s the only grocery store in Fernley, my family and a lot of people I know would go over to Fallon or Reno to shop because of the prices. I haven’t been to Scolari’s much since then, so I can’t really say whether it’s less expensive now. That said, they do have good points. The produce section tends to have a better selection than the nearby Wal-Mart(they have rhubarb when it’s in season and Wal-Mart doesn’t, anyway), and it’s rarely crowded anymore. The bakery section usually has some form of excellent brownies. P. S. I can’t say much for their garden section, though. The one time I bought a plant there, it was absolutely drowning in water and died despite my best efforts. But I haven’t heard the best about any Wal-Mart garden center either.
