This place is all flash but not substance; the food was bearable at best, but everything on the menu was well overpriced for as little flavor as the entrees or the appetizers had. If you like to spend your money on bland tasteless food then this is the place to go; otherwise I’d suggest looking elsewhere.

Exquisite food, stellar service. We drove 60 minutes to eat here and will definitely do so again. I agree with another reviewer that this is as close to fine dining unless you go to a «big city». I would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone.

Traveling to Findlay area quite frequently I have been here more times than I can count over the past year. Almost to the point where I’ve tried a good number of items on the menu(it doesn’t change much). Bistro never fails to deliver a satisfying meal guess that’s why I come back. I’m a fan of the starter salads and I think that they generally do pasta quite well(try the gnocci if you have a big appetite). Other entrees are a bit hit or miss(got to do the duck meatloaf at least once!) and I would avoid the cioppino — not something I’d choose to have again. My one beef I guess is just all about timing. If I go to a fast food restaurant I do want my food and drink to be delivered quickly. In a fancier restaurant I would expect to have some delay. No, more than that, I want to feel like the chef and/or bartender has lovingly poured themselves into the one plate or glass that is before me. If it comes to the table too quickly, I get suspicious. «what, you just had that waiting for someone to order it right?» this time around, the pacing was a little too quick for my liking. Please play me a bit, set a timer, text your friends and then come to the table with my food or beverage as though it was something that had taken a huge effort to prepare. I’ll tip appreciatively. Funny how I’m complaining about too much service. But I think there’s an optimal wait time that should be adhered to. Never eaten dessert here strangely enough. They bring the funny tray to the table and show me the options and I generally feel so depressed looking at the options that I don’t order. I think they’d do better to have a card menu. I’d rather dream about what is on offer than look at something that is kind of limp and sad. Grumpy old person that I am, here’s my review.

Went to this restaurant with some friends the other day and it was excellent. If you’re ever in Findlay, find this little gem downtown. Great food, great service, cozy atmosphere. The owner even came to our table and asked how things were. Nice touch, showed that he cared. I would definitely go back to this restaurant if I’m ever in the area again.

Although I live nearby, I had never tried The Bistro on Main before. We had family in town from out of state & I wanted to be able to take them to a place that was a bit more upscale. The Bistro did not disappoint! I immensely enjoyed the Kobe meatballs, as well as the calamari appetizer & the mozzarella appetizer. Salads were fabulous. Prices were a little high for the area but in line for fine dining. I found it a little off putting that they were out of many things on the menu & the service was a bit slow. However, we were in a large party. The pasta on the children’s menu was quite spicy, which was surprising. The desserts were absolutely amazing. I would definitely eat here again.

A tad bit pricey but inspiring menu and bordering on elegant atmosphere for either a business lunch or Friday date night.

By far the best restaurant in Findlay. Real wine, real food. My go to place when I am in town.

Food was very good. I had the Blackened grouper, my wife the ravioli with chicken. As I said my grouper was good but not what I expected in a blackened dish. It is a bit on the expensive side(2 and ½ $ signs, 19 to 45 dollars) Décor was nice. I was impressed with the metal ceiling that was original to the buildings décor when it was originally built.

This place is great. The steak salad was well worth it and the specials sound creative and nice. The waitress was strange the whole evening then she couldn’t split the bill with two credit cards. Just weird.

Eat here 3 – 4 times a week at lunch and dinner! My favorite place to go when I get home and it is too late to start cooking a meal! Service is stellar!

Everything was delicious except the hot bacon spinach salad. Tomato basil bisque was perfect! Alforno would get again! Service was great up until the end… It took a long time to get our to go dessert. Would definitely go again!

Very good place to have some nice lunch or dinner(almost fancy). Had the Kobe meatballs and they were good! Very tasty. The pasta was cooked perfectly, the meat was soft. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are driving by Findlay.

Cozy place — dimly lit, relaxing music, neat old building. Nice wine list. The portions here are ridiculously large(each item ordered could have fed 2 people). For the same price and half the amount of food, the cost could be put into the quality of the food. If this were to happen, I think this could be a genuinely good restaurant. Unfortunately, as of now, it’s just okay. What I ate: Arugula & Beet salad — 2 stars The arugula was not fresh(wilted). The ratio of beets to greens was too small to be included in the title of the dish. The flavor combination left a lot to be desired(the Bree style of cheese on this salad wasn’t the best choice and the celery just didn’t belong). Walnuts and salad dressing were solid. Lamb — 3 stars The flavor combination here was well done with caramelized onions and mashed potatoes; however, the meat was not tender and most certainly was not priced according to the quality of the meat($ 39). It was cooked properly as medium rare. Crème Brulee — 2 stars The richness I am accustomed to was not here. It was more like just a custard. Service — 3 stars Not bad, but certainly not upscale. I was not informed of the specials, which is annoying. Also, the waitress disappeared for 20 long minutes at the end of the meal.

Average at best. Service was slow for our table of 5. My braised short ribs were tender but lacked any kind of flavor. Our table also shared the lobster and corn fritters, which did not have any lobster flavor let alone lobster meat. was overpowered by the lemon juice they squeezed over the dish before serving.

Horrible. Just left. Food and drinks were superb, however, boils down to service. Service was impeccable until a party of eight came in. Keep in mind that there were only 5 other table and four people at the bar. We became invisible once the eight people came in. 27 minutes for another drink and never removed our appetizer we were clearly finished with. If service is this horrid on a slow night like tonight. I’d hate to see it busy.

I’ve been flying to Findlay over the years to work the college and just found out about the Bistro. This place has amazingly fresh vibrant tasting dishes that are creative with colors and textures. The specialized drinks are just as good as the food. Service was great and attentive without being intrusive. A cozy little place that we are sure to return to. Keep up the good work Sam!

I travel to Findlay often on business, and this is my favorite restaurant in town! The atmosphere is dark but welcoming. It has a cool, relaxed vibe. I am a beer drinker, and they have a nice selection of both seasonal and local/craft beers on tap. They have more in bottles if you do not fancy the ones on tap. The appetizers, entrees, and desserts are all amazingly delicious. I always make sure to add on(for $ 3) one of the«fancier» side salads. My favorite is the bistro salad: granny smith apples, mixed greens, walnuts, blue cheese and a honey poppy seed dressing. YUM! The kobe meatballs or the tuscan penne(add chicken) are my go-to entrees. Be warned: the portions are quite large! Good luck saving room for dessert! Looking at the menu, I get a little worried about what the total bill will cost. However with drinks, appetizers, side salads, and entrees, including tax and tip… it averages out to be around $ 40 a person. I don’t think that is too bad for a meal that is both delicious and very filling.

Not nearly as good as it was a few years ago. Maybe management changed? It used to be a strictly Italian restaurant with a decent Italian menu. Now Italian food takes up only a portion of the menu. I saw no Italian dish without mushrooms or olives, which — if you like that, you’d love. I ended up getting penne with chicken and sausage(asking for no onions, peppers or mushrooms) but it was really heavy on the sauce and light on noodles, which were overcooked. The music — ugh, the music. What happened to Italian music in Italian restaurants? This was like bad elevator music. And it was loud. The salad even was strange — instead of croutons it had crushed croutons, which gave the salad a very strange texture. In all, it seemed they were trying too hard to be trendy. I’d rather they kept it simple and did one thing well — Italian food. But the food was so-so. My wife liked hers, though. They get points for atmosphere.

I had the best dessert I have ever had !!! It was the chocolate praline pie with vanilla gelato. It had a great atmosphere. I had the roasted beet, Brie, and arugula salad to start then the lobster risotto.
