One of the many highlights of my weeks out in Cherry Grove are a few visits to the Sand Castle. Owner Dawn has created a very special place on the Atlantic, whether you’re looking for fun lunch or an elegant dinner. Standouts on the menu are the scallops, most any of the salads, and the most excellent margaritas. The staff is always fun, yet professional. Can’t say enough good things about the place, really.

What a gorgeous view. Breakfast here was the perfect way to start our day on Fire Island. My friend and I sat out on the patio and shared the chilaquiles. My friend was dissatisfied with the way the eggs were done(she can be rather picky), so our server gave us a free refill on our iced coffees. I thought that was a nice gesture. Cash only, so make sure your wallet is prepared.

We had the short ribs, fish tacos, calamari, chips and falafel and shared it all. The service was awesome. The view was the ocean. In my opinion the calamari was not the best I’ve had it didn’t have much taste and I would compare it to calamari I’ve had in Missouri. The short ribs were good but also a little bland but tasted fantastic mixing with the fish Taco bites. Overall I enjoyed it and would order everything again except the calamari. Loved the falafel!!! I also liked the ambience.

I came here for a bachelorette party with group of 10 ladies. Sea Castle was located steps away from the beach, and their patio was chosen as the setting for our celebration. The service was great. One of the girls who couldn’t make it had a bottle of champagne delivered to the restaurant which they had set out and ready for us when we arrived for our reservation. Food and drinks were also served in a timely manner. However, none of it was really memorable(except the fries), my salad was laughably small, and everything was somewhat overpriced as you can imagine from a place like this. On the other side of the restaurant, the bar area seemed much more fun. At 4pm, the bar was already packed, Top 40s were blasting, and the population of Cherry Grove was ready to wriggle and writhe all over each other… Note: There is only 1 bathroom for the entire restaurant so be prepared to spend a lot of time waiting in line for it.

Chef Noelle at the Sandcastle Restaurant in Cherry Grove really out did herself tonight. She made one of the most delicious meals that I have had so for this summer. I started with the Fried Oyster with homemade Kimchee & Jalapeño Aioli. The flavors were so well balanced and the oysters just melted in your mouth even though they were fried. Then my main course came. It was the most amazing Roasted Colorado Lamb, Porterhouse, Savory Farro, oven dried tomato & delicate Mint Dipping Sauce. One bite of this dish I was speechless, my sister asked if I was ok because I was just staring at the plate shaking my head, and I told her I was just overwhelmed with how perfect this plate is. My husband started with the most perfect creamy Burrata and Tomato with Tuscan style bread appetizer which he followed up with a perfect piece of Salmon served over a pan roasted Sweet Pea Risotto that was outstanding. My sister had the Short Rib Pappardelle that was served slowly braised in a red wine demi, and my cousins Sandcastel Burger(sirloin, chuck and short rib) were both done to perfection. Brava Chef Noelle, it’s not easy to put out such delicious meals when you are challenged with a two huge parties(10 and 16 plus multiple four tops as well) all-arriving at the same time. To be able to put out that quality food tonight is commendable and you should be very proud of your dishes. Donna and Jackie thank you for providing us with this fine cuisine, congratulations on a successful evening. Food was superb.
