Stopped here for breakfast on a Saturday morning around 9 on our way back home to Illinois. The place was full, but we got two stools at the counter. The menu is a basic breakfast menu. I went with the two eggs(poached hard), toast and home fries. Typically I don’t like breakfast potatoes because no one makes them like my mom used to(not even me) but in this case I was relying on other Unilocal reviews and photos. My DH ordered the omelette and they easily handled his request for egg whites only(just $ 1 extra). Since we were at the counter we had a bird’s eye view of the operations. So we could see the cartons of real eggs, the loaves of fresh bakery bread, the pots of lovely jam. And got to see the cooks and wait staff in action. This is a place that serves only breakfast and they certainly seemed to have things well in hand. And then our food arrived. The moment of truth. Yesss — this breakfast place is the real deal. My eggs were poached exactly the way I like them(can’t tell you how often other restaurants have had to take them back for more poaching), the raisin toast was delicious, especially with a little of the jam, and oh my — potatoes just like my mom used to make. My DH was equally impressed with his food. And as for the potatoes — he has breakfast potatoes all the time and he declared these were among the best he’s had. I didn’t have the pancakes, but gosh they sure looked delicious as we saw other orders being served. We don’t live in the area, but next time we are driving through we will certainly make the stop.

I’ve driven by this place for a while now, and finally pulled in. Glad I did. I believe they only serve breakfast, with limited times, but do yourself a favor and get here. Quick friendly service, with hot tasty comfort food. Can’t lose here, I will be in more often.

Worth the trip and early(for us) wake up call. We went on a Thursday morning and there was no wait. The pancakes are great, omelets fresh, and homemade toast fluffy. I was a very happy camper. Cash only!

Nice if you want to stand outside for a half-hour and wait for food that you could have made at home. Owner is a complete a-hole and dosnt’t know how to treat people.

I admit I was a bit disappointed by breakfast today. Eggs, pancakes, meat were delicious. But coffee was just average. Raisin bread French Toast was somewhat bland, and maple syrup was also not great and not heated. I was expecting more, honestly, and passed up free breakfast at motel for something special. Also, at $ 25 it was somewhat expensive.

This is probably the best breakfast in the Rochester area as far as food goes. In terms of accommodations, it’s not the best. It’s cramped and you need to essentially fight for an empty table when one comes up. People are hovering around while you’re eating waiting for tables so it can be a bit awkward. Still, the food is good enough that I would go here daily if it were feasible. The pancakes and the breakfast sandwiches are the best I’ve had anywhere.

Great food and family! However, VERY disappointed that they stopped serving lunch. They had the best grilled fish sandwich and we miss it. The food is homemade and made with love. So delicious! When you get there you’ll have to wait in line most likely, there is no host so you see yourself everyone there knows the process. Their breakfast menu consists of limited items but all are very delicious. They make all their own bread and rolls and there Jam is spectacular I put it on everything. I like there breakfast sandwich which has ham egg and cheese on it and is on one of their homemade rolls and comes with breakfast potatoes. I also sometimes get the ham omelette. The eggs are fresh and so is the ham. I always order a side of toast as I can’t go there without having it covered with their jam. My boyfriend loves their pancakes and I am in love with our French toast. Make sure you bring cash because that’s all they accept. I know they can afford it but they’re only open Thursday Friday Saturday til 11 and Sunday til 12. I wish they had more hours and were open later. I also again wish that they brought back their lunch as it is one of my favorites in Rochester

The food is amazing. Its the only place when you have the pancakes you don’t need to have syrup. They are melty good on the own. Down side is timing. If you go at the wrong time you could be waiting awhile. The food is that good.

Best pancakes in the area and perfectly cooked bacon. Come early otherwise you’ll have to wait.

Thumbing our noses at practicality, the better half and I drove up to Fishers from Canandaigua on a frigid Sunday morning, hungover, hungry and in eager anticipation of this joint given its high rating. So we got there at around 9:15 and waited and waited, huddling with the other hungry customers in front of the door. Felt bad for the poor schmucks that had to wait outside. When a table finally opened up, therein commenced the bulk of the waiting as it was a good 45 minutes before we got our food. This place brings the concept of a cluster to new heights. Frazzled waitresses running around in a cramped space, while you sit and wait and wonder if there are chickens out back laying the eggs that you are waiting to eat. The long wait to get a table here is not from folks lingering after they eat;by the time you actually have your breakfast half your morning will have been wasted and you’ll want to be on your way. I have no problem waiting for knock your socks off food, mind you, but this was not worth it. The acclaimed meltaway pancakes? Slightly thicker than crepes, they were just way to thin. Why do they melt in your mouth? Because they are the consistency of pancake batter, you can practically drink them. Taste-wise they were good and clearly made from scratch, but pancakes should have at least some fluffiness to them; these were flat gelatinous discs. My SO liked the breakfast sandwich, and raved about the roll it came on. Prices here are pretty cheap so can’t complain about that either. I won’t be back here but if I were to consider it Id try one of the egg choices, with potatoes because the mushy flapjacks made me queasy.

So, I live no where near this restaurant, but checked out my fellow Unilocalers before heading to victor. This place got rave reviews and I have to write as I just finished their 2×2×2 special for 7 $. It included more than four pancakes, 2 sausages and 2 eggs to order! Omg, it is worth the drive, the eggs, perfectly cooked, the pancakes actually melted in my mouth and the sausage was delicious! My dinning partner ordered the bacon tomato cheddar omelette. He also said his was delicious. Stole a forkful and I concur! Yum yum yum, it is worth the trip and whenever I leave a restaurant making plans to return, you know it is amazeballz! Happy eating! Cash only, but ok, reasonable and worth the cost!

Look– the food IS good. Well prepared and very tasty. In fact– I could tell that the home-fried potatoes were fresh, hand-peeled, and fried to perfection in a hot pan. BUT, part of the restaurant business is knowing how to handle a crowd, and how to create a pleasant atmosphere to dine in. The interior is not attractively decorated and there are cardboard boxes of supplies in the dining room. The standing-room only crowd waits mere inches from the dining patrons, and the door lets in a cold draft to chill everyone in the restaurant. The kitchen is slow. When I arrived at 9 am there was a short wait for a table, during which I observed that fewer than half the tables actually HAD food. Once seated, I observed each table receive their meals in an orderly fashion, every 5 minutes. Apparently, the kitchen only cooks for one table at a time. Bring reading material to keep yourself entertained if you’re not the first patron in the door! The waitresses were competent, if a bit overworked and stressed. I did hear one waitress repeatedly offer patrons raisin-toast only to correct herself EVERYTIME that they had run out. If «homemade» jam is your thing, they serve it, but a little pot of jam on 2 slices of toast is seriously NOTWORTHTHEWAIT. To sum up-food is good, ambiance poor, wait too long.

The headline is truly great food, held back from being a 5-star breakfast spot only by the fact that they only take cash, and the service needs work. FOOD Melt-Away Pancakes — They do. Think pancakes that are caught at the very point between not completely cooked and completely done. They are definitely cooked through, but retain that delicious batter/doughy taste. These are a must. Omelette — Had this with tomato, onion, and peppers; sadly, they had no mushrooms. Was well-cooked and extremely tasty. Sausage — Don’t skip it. Comes in patty form, and has to be homemade. The give away is the hint of fresh herbs(rosemary, for sure). A savory treat. Bacon — nothing bad, but nothing remarkable. Well-cooked. Yeast Rolls — While I did not partake, my dining companions like these so much that they bought some to take home. French Toast — A very good version of the dish. Good mix of savory and sweet. SERVICE I would return, but would hope for a different service experience. We were seated quickly, which was impressive for a Sunday morning. However, they only had one person serving drinks, one person(«Nancy») taking food orders, and one person bussing tables. We waited for at least 10 minutes for menus, and then probably another 20 minutes for someone to take our order. The food took another 20+ minutes to come out. Very difficult to get anyone’s attention for more coffee, etc. Just adding one more server would immensely increase the level of service. CASHONLY Making customers pay in cash no longer equates to quaintness of a restaurant. In an age where all you need is an iPad/Square to take credit card payments, that you don’t accept credit just makes no sense. If we’re in the area again, we would return, based on the food alone.

Best breakfast in the Rochester area I’ve ever had. Best pancakes I’ve ever had period. ‘Melt in your mouth’ pancakes, as they had been described did not sound that appealing, but once I had a taste I understood! They are not undercooked or anything, just soft and full of flavor. And they DO melt in your mouth, which is great because pancakes can tend to be overly heavy. I arrived on a Sunday and although it was very crowded, I got a seat in about 10 minutes. I do wish there was a host seating people, but the spirit among the people in line was kind, and it presented a good opportunity to be decent to strangers no matter how hungry I was. I got the 2−2−2(2 eggs, 2 sausage patties, 2 pancakes) special, which was well worth the $ 7 price! My plate was a little crowded, so I asked the attentive staff for an extra plate, and moved some over. The eggs were done perfectly, the pancakes were as great as I described earlier, and the pork sausage was fresh and not anything like the over processed leathery garbage found at dunkin’ donuts. Yes I’ll be back as soon as possible!

Best pancakes and home fries anywhere in a hundred mile radius. Come early the lines will be out the door! Also lunch is delicious, sandwiches are made with homemade buns. Love this little joint!

This joint is as good as the five star reviews say it is. That being said, YMMV. Pay attention to the posted hours. Pancakes are sooo good. I’m limiting my gluten intake these days but will make exceptions for their«Meltaway» pancakes. Yes, they are all that and a bag of chips. If you order your standard eggs, meat & homefries, the bread that accompanies it is home made. Very good as well. As far as the sides go, I ordered bacon on my last visit(ordinarily, I’m a sausage fan) and it was the BEST bacon I’ve had in a loong time. Arrive early, folks. Lines CAN get long. But do include it in your rounds. If you’re not a pancake fan(not my favorite dish), you will be after you visit Fisher’s Station!

Excellent. We got there at about 10 am on a Sunday and only had to wait ~5 minutes or so for a table. It’s definitely cramped — we were cheek-by-jowl with other tables, and it definitely chaotic. We waited some time for a server to clear our table and bring coffee and menus, and then to come by and take our order. It didn’t seem like servers had specific tables; everyone kind of pitched in and did everything on an as-needed basis. However, these are minor complaints. The food more than made up for them, too. I saw sausage patties on other diners’ plates and knew I had to order them, and also wanted to try the pancakes based on other Unilocalers’ reviews, so I ordered the 2−2−2 combo with over-easy eggs and a side of toast(so I could also try the jam). Everything was delicious, but the sausage really stole the show for me, especially swabbed in the maple syrup. Coffee was very good too, although they could’ve been a titch quicker about coming around to refill it, and a glass of water would’ve been nice. My partner ordered a spinach-cheddar omelette and raved about it; said it was the best omelette he’s ever had. I tried a bite and decided that next time, it’d be an omelette for me. Can’t wait to go back. Can’t wait to bring my kids, who will devour those pancakes and the sausage. In short, as we were leaving, I said«I think I found my new favorite breakfast place.»

If you’ve ever been to some of the maple syrup sugar shacks in the backwoods of Quebec or northern Vermont, Food at Fishers Station will take you right back to one of them. Set in an unassuming location just off the Victor exit of 490, the charming house feels like a family-owned diner in a small New England town. You can smell the eggs and butter as soon as you get out of your car. As others have noted, it’s cash only and it’s somewhat cramped. The regulars — mostly families and retired folk — seem so peculiarly comfortable, they can’t possibly be anything BUT constant fixtures. And the food. Oh, the food. The meltaway pancakes — you are advised not to get anything but the full stack — are exquisite. Swedish in style, meaning that the proportions of butter, eggs and sugar are increased at the expense of flour, these pancakes are a dangerous slippery slope of real butter and maple syrup. Literally meltaway. I’m still thinking about them. We also tried the McRick’s breakfast sandwich, consisting of egg, cheese and sausage on a roll. Delicious. It was served alongside some home fries which were intelligently cooked in a large slab of fat, as evidenced by their fan-effing-tastic-ness. The whole meal for two breakfasts, two sides and two coffees, was $ 18. There’s something very communal here at Food at Fishers Station. The preserves are home made and dripping out from mason jars, the butter is real, the smiles are warm and the tables are worn. Restaurants that remind you of a community — without including alcohol — are hard to come by. Check it out.
