Went to Golden Lion for late lunch. Approximately 1430. Very busy. Thought we got lucky and got a table on the upper deck. Our table faced north and south as opposed to east and south. Sun was in our face sitting towards the west. The umbrella was broken and did not go up to shield the sun in our eyes. Saw a table leave and asked the hostess if we could move. She stated it was a different station and server. Another table left. Asked the hostess if we could move to that one. She stated it’s really busy and there’s a line of people waiting. (Should of got the hint then and simply left.) Our waitress was good. Food was good. Just would of been nice to have a tabe with an umbrella that opened. Mark L

Went here on a friend’s recommendation and so happy we did. Wonderful location with ocean views. The staff was friendly and attentive. I had a bloody mary which was okay. Not amazing but not horrible. My husband had a rum bucket which he enjoyed. To eat I got the mini seafood tower. Oysters, claims, muscles and peel and eat shrimp. It was all good. I have had better oysters but they weren’t horrible. The peel and eat shrimp however was amazing!!! Next time I would just order that alone. My hubby got bangers and mash and liked it a lot. We also had the peanut butter and chocolate chip cake which was decent. Very sweet and a little dry. Over all cool place to have a drink and I would go back for the shrimp.

The Golden Lion Café is one of my favorite happy hour spots in Flagler. The location is hard to beat and the rooftop patio is the best place to drink a cold beer in the Florida sun. The oysters were fresh, chilled and delicious. We also enjoyed the fried shrimp appetizers(my fav was the coconut shrimp).

Went here with a large party including children. Our waiter disappeared soon after ordering,(for 45 minutes) and he tried to run off again after bringing us our food. A lot of the food was cold, and one person in our party got the wrong order(a cheaper item) he decided to eat it anyway because we were starving at that point. When the bill came however, it had his more expensive original order on it. After some argument the bill was changed. I’d say this place is probably fine if you are going to drink with a few friends. It does have an ocean view from the top deck and some beachy décor. Not a good place for eating.

Been coming down to Flagler for years but never went inside because it looks small from the road. Once we walked in, it opened up nicely to a sand pit courtyard where reggae was happening. The food and service couldn’t have been any better!

Best fish taco I’ve had in awhile and the view of the Atlantic Ocean is spectacular and the key lime tarter sauce is the best they even sell it in a bottle

The food is not worth the price. Last time I ate here, I had the fish and chips platter. I am a local to Flagler and believe what you are purchasing is the view. Beautiful views and I have never had to wait for a table, even on the upper deck. The staff is consistently friendly. The fish is fried super hard on the outside and its greasy. A salad(no meat that’s extra) seems to run over 12.00 dollars. Have a drink. Enjoy the view. Key lime tartar is good but now that you can get at publix… I have tried other dishes such as the burgers and the salmon club but none are spectacular. I am fond of the place but believe it is over priced and though they claim to have signature dishes. I have yet to find one.

This place is horrible. The fish tacos are not fried and are a mushy mess. The mojitos are watered down and taste like flavored seltzer water. The overall experience is horrible. Do not be taken by the fact that you can sit upstairs and see the ocean. The chairs and tables were not wiped down and is a sticky mess. The manager approached us when we returned to ask why we returned the mojitos. So we have to explain a second time that they were horrible. At the end we ordered wings that never came and the bill had the mojitos on them. This is a poorly run business and need to work on their communication between kitchen and staff. Bar tenders should be taught with consistency. Will not be returning. You have been warned.

I’ve been here three times so far and have had good food and service each time. This last time I had the lobster roll with fries. The roll tasted fresh and the lobster was sweet and seasoned well. I’d recommend this for sure! There are many options for seating and there are a few bars too. You can do a sunny ocean view or sit inside with air conditioning. I love live music and enjoyed having entertainment while socializing. This is a great spot to eat at after a fun day at the beach.

Wanna eat at the beach but don’t want sand in your food? The Golden Lion Café is the place to go! Located in Flagler Beach, this café is the place to go for that tropical feel. The lobster roll is just as good as you’d get in Maine and the fish tacos are served with The Golden Lion’s own key lime tartar sauce… delicious! Happy hour is 3pm-6pm, so stop by and try them out!

We live in Orlando and often visit Flagler Beach. When we do, we always visit the Golden Lion, and always order the fish fingers first thing. We were disappointed to find out during our visit this past wekend to find out they are no longer on the menu. We have a large group of friends we had brought or recommended to visit your establishment and order the fish fingers, along with the key lime tarter sauce, and they were all disappointed the hear the news. We can only hope they are reintroduced to the menu!

Chris and his wife came into my place of employment on Tuesday and recommended I visit. It was worth the beautiful bike ride. Our bartender, Robin, was quick and courteous! The shrimp pesto tacos were awesome! Thanks, chris! Great recommendation.

My husband and I were in Flagler fishing. The young man at the local bait shop recommended this restaurant so we decided to give it a try. We ordered the clam chowder, which was typical chowder. We also ordered the salmon based on the recommendation of the waitress. I was impressed with the presentation of the meal. Someone clearly cared how it looked. It had a tasty sauce drizzled on the salmon which was placed on a bed of rice, which was tasty. The green beans were not over cooked. All in all the meal was good. The lower rating is due to what I felt was the perception that the place needs a good scrubbing. The ladies room was quite bad. It made me wonder how clean the kitchen was where the food is prepared. That is the only reason we do not plan to return.

Great venue off of A1A offering up a beautiful view of the ocean from the upper deck where the tables are covered with giant umbrellas to shade you from the Florida sun while enjoying a few cocktails with friends. The cool ocean breeze provides the perfect environment to relax outdoors while listening to the live music by some of the best local and regional talent. I didn’t try any of the food but there seems to be some great specials everyday of the week including a seafood boil that includes fresh shrimp, clams, mussel and more. Our server was very friendly and attentive and provided excellent service from the moment we sat down. I would definitely return to this location.

My take away from dining at Golden Lion is that its far better as a bar than a restaurant. My party of four was seated quickly but waited twenty minutes to be greeted by a waiter and given water — and we had to flag down a hostess for this to happen. On a scorching 96 degree Florida day, it was kind of unacceptable. From there though our service was great — our waiter was a Jason Mraz look alike with a chill vibe and refreshing attitude. He did apologize for our wait and was attentive thereafter. We each ordered a beachy drink — my banana Daquiri was the stand out but everything was good. The banana Daquiri was something I could drink all day long and the bar areas seemed fun and friendly. The view at GL is fantastic! I’d like to come back in the evening to enjoy live music and get tipsy. The food was very mediocre, definitely bar food but somehow worse. My cheeseburger was cooked well as opposed to medium and was unseasoned/bland. The bun was dry. I wouldn’t order it again. My mother ordered a salmon salad which went half-eaten. The thai fish tacos looked interesting, but not my thing. My family had great things too say about the salsa, which looked chunky and unusual. It was hard to find something on the menu that was out of the box, and I’ve had better burgers at(gasp) Wendy’s. The vibe is awesome and you can’t beat the view but the food is lame… Come for a drink or go on a full stomach!
