I will say the food has greatly improved from my last visit however the service declined drastically. It wasn’t a full house but it wasn’t empty either this being said our waitress was the slowest I have ever experienced. The gaps inbetween courses or even stopping by the table to see if everything was OK was staggering. I have no idea what beverages they serve as I was never asked if I wanted one. Both salads ordered never arrived, it isn’t as if she didn’t write them down as they were included on the check, they just never got to our table. Our coffees arrived well after desert was finished and it just reached the point where we left the payment on the table as it didn’t seem like the waitress was going to be coming back. If this is what a typical night is like they need to get in more people as our waitress clearly couldn’t handle the tables she had to cover.

Great place. Amazing food. Nothing like it. Their steaks are amazing, the grilled romaine salad is crazy good. Everything is top notch from the service, atmosphere to menu selections and of course the food is really the best around. Don’t miss this a chance to have a fabulous meal here.

Have been here numerous times and have always had a great experience until last night. my husband went for my birthday. we sat on the patio and there was a 4 person table with only 2 settings and we asked to sit there so we had more room and the hostess said no because it was for 4 people and sat us at a small table. 10 minutes later she sat another couple there that had asked to sit there even though there were other 2 person tables to sit at. so rude! I had the salmon and I’ve had it before with other sauces on it and enjoyed it very much. last night it had some kind of dill mixture and it was DISGUSTING. So disappointed

This place is great. I’ve been here about a dozen times and always happy with it. Whatever you do GETTHEGRILLEDROMAINESALAD. I know it sounds weird but it is absolutely amazing. It is crisp, fresh, and slightly smoky. Nothing like it. After that dig into one of the steaks. They are grilled over a wood fire which makes the outside as good as the inside. It is BYOB which makes it more affordable. My favorite place in Flemington.

Matt’s Red Rooster Grill is a gem tucked in the historic portion of Flemington, NJ… The Signature Grilled Romaine lettuce is my favorite treat… The 30 day aged steak was prepared to perfection… It is a delightful food experience that has a sense of being home & exquisite treatment from the engaging staff… Top notch…

Amazing — I had the grilled Calamari for an appetizer, the stuffed trout at my entrée, and the chocolate trifle as me dessert… All were phenomenal. Was with a party of 6… not a single complaint. Food is FRESH, served quickly, and servers were very polite and accommodating. Cant wait for another excuse to go back! Living in Allamuchy, I don’t get out to Flemington too often, but Matts Red Rooster Grill is worth the drive.

Matt’s Red Rooster honored the reservation on time and as usual, the professional staff were welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. The seasonal menu changes are interesting and tempting. The three bean soup purée is rich and full of layered flavor. The stuffed pork chop was remarkably tender and flavorful. The filet was cooked perfectly S ordered and the chocolate chip bread pudding a perfect ending to the meal. We will happily return. Almost forgot BYOB!

We met friends here for an impromptu reunion. The staff was very friendly and helpful. For the food: — The Chef’s devil eggs — as an appetizer — very good; the truffle oil was a nice touch. — The aged strip steak — was good; tasty, but not great. It was slightly over cooked; although ordered medium. — The salmon was delicious Others as the table had the trout, which was farm raised, but had favorable reviews and the sword fish which also went over very well. For dessert for the 6 of us — one person got the crème brûlée and one the chocolate trifle and the rest of us the bread pudding. The crème brûlée and bread pudding was outstanding; the trifle left a bit to be desired. The price overall was a bit on high side.

This place has really good reviews so I was excited to try it out. It’s got a cool vibe in there, the prices are expensive, the ingredients sound interesting… unfortunately out of 6 people only 1 person liked their food. I had the salmon, it tasted like charcoal and dill pickle. Someone else had chicken which tasted like smoked wood. The pasta was pretty good, but not for over $ 20. If I’m going to spend $ 30 a dish, I’ll find somewhere else with better tasting food.

We are new to the area and New Jersey and I have been told to use Unilocal as a guide for restaurants and other retail stores. After seeing the great reviews on Unilocal,we decided to give it a try. I called on a Wednesday and was able to get a reservation for 2 people at 8pm. I started off with the grilled shrimp and my husband had the lobster appetizer. Both were very tasty, however the spicy cocktail sauce wasn’t too spicy. For dinner, I ordered the crab cakes. They were outstanding… very fresh and delicious, and made with all crab meat, no fillers. My husband ordered the rib eye… cooked to perfection. I would recommend this restaurant. Be sure to make reservations as it didn’t seem as though they take walk-ins.

What a lovely dinner. Food was fantastic and the service exceptional. We did not BYOB but, that was covered as they have a partnership with New Jersey’s Unionville Winery(bottle was pricey but, very good so worth it — when weather permits we will visit them for a tasting). To start, we ordered the short ribs ravioli and the grilled calamari(their special that evening-which we hope they add to the menu), followed by the lemon grilled lobster tails and hubby had the ribeye. We ended with crème brûlée and the kalua cheesecake. We highly recommend this restaurant and have placed on our list for many future visits.

Delicious byob gem. I ordered the ribeye and had no regrets. Nice staff, and we lingered there a while(with our wine) and never felt rushed.

In the past Matt’s was a 4 or 5 or even 6 stars(if possible) but last 2 times all I can say is it’s not the same. Service is exemplary and Lacey was so attentive. Grilled and chilled shrimp appetizer was superb. Apple cranberry cobbler was excellent. It was the in between courses that struggled. The beet salad was sour. My pork tenderloin was dry. The mushroom risotto was good but dropped a bit with the peppers that didn’t appear to make sense. Also, while its usually great to sit at the bar and experience the open kitchen concept, staff started cleaning the kitchen when we were eating our soup and salad, even though patrons came in after us.

Cool, quaint, elegant. The food’s outstanding. The head chef/owner went way out of his way for us. If you don’t enjoy this place, you should stick to take out.

Dinner was excellent, as was the service. From the house salad to the salmon entrée, and the peach cobbler dessert, as well as a nice bottle of reisling from the Unionville Winery, it was genuinely delicious, and truly good dining!

Fantastic, but pricey place. It feels like a home which has been nicely converted into a restaurant, located on a side street in Flemington. If you can’t find street parking, there is an entrance to a municipal lot just before the restaurant. They have outside seating during nice weather. The décor is terrific. Even the bathrooms make you feel like you are in a nicely decorated home, not a restaurant bathroom. Its BYOB, but they also sell their own wine, which is though a local NJ vineyard, Unionville Winery. We ordered the Revolutionary Red for $ 16, which was a better wine than one would expect for a $ 16 restaurant wine. The staff was friendly and attentive. We were a party of 4, and all of us felt the food was fantastic. We had the calamari appetizer. The portion size was a little on the small side, but was delicious. 2 of us had the dayboat scallops, which we loved. I’m not much of a rice and veggie person, but both of us completely cleaned our plates everything was so good. 1 of us had the lobster, and felt it was terrific. The last person had the Cioppino, which is cod, shrimp, scallops, clams, and pasta. They said it was super, and they also cleaned their plate lol We were too full to try dessert, but we did notice most of the other patrons had ordered dessert so it must be good. Our bill for 4 was over $ 200 including tip, so its not someplace you will want to eat at several times a week. But, quality costs, so if you are in the area and want a delicious meal in a romantic setting this Matt’s is an excellent choice.

I really don’t know what to say and i’m not sure if I should even say anything. Maybe I should just keep my experience to myself since it was so amazing. Hands down my #1 dinning experience in New Jersey. Chef Matt is simply incredible. After dining here anyone can see his main goal is to please. All he wants is to cook amazing food and make people happy… just like an Italian grandma cooking for her grandkids or something. We sat at the chefs counter which was beyond cool. We spoke with Matt as he cooked, we followed along with the grill cook and sous chefs. His line is a well oiled machine yet quite. Everyone knew what they needed to do and just did it. We ordered steak and lobster tails, I told the waitress we planned to split it. Matt asked us— while cooking if we wanted rice or mashed potatoes. Really? did he just ask us? Yep-He wanted to make the meal for us as enjoyable as possible. He split the plates for us(some lame ass places charge for this-which I feel is obnoxious). It was the ultimate plate of food. Surf and Turf. The dining room is beautiful yet in no way stuffy. It almost felt like we were just over a friends for dinner… not even at a restaurant. We felt so happy and comfortable. This is a restaurant we will return to many many times.
