I had a great breakfast there this morning. The blueberry pancakes were so good with lots of fresh blueberries. I had not been there in the last year because the owner who purchased it a year ago seemed very disinterested in the customers. I was happy to see the new owner greeting the customers and asking how their meal was. It gave me hope for the Cheers-type atmosphere it once had, prior to it’s sale a year ago. The only thing I missed was the music that always played overhead. There were 2TV’s on the wall and I longed for the music that brightened the customer’s meals. We had a good meal, a nice, attentive server, and liked the way the owner seemed so interested in making sure our meal was good. We will definitely go back!

Under new management and simply awful. Table not wiped, 5 minutes until menu, another 5 minutes until coffee, 30 minutes for breakfast to arrive and it was bad. Over easy eggs were crispy brown, scrambled eggs were cooked on a dirty grill, pancakes had pieces of dirty grill in them, a blueberry from someone else’s order was on our plate… just incredibly bad. If I could give no stars, I would. Management did knock $ 5 off, but it still was $ 20, a WASTE of my time, and I left HUNGRY.

I want this place to be sooooo much more then it is! I went two weeks ago with my kids and left my avocado and egg sandwich on the table after one bite! It was gross, brown avocado, and spicy mayo was on it after I requested it was not, for the second time. I can not say I’ll ever go back unless it changes hands… Again!

Awful. New ownership as of a week or so ago. The guy doesn’t know how to cook. My chicken sandwich was disgusting. The chicken was dry and overcooked. I had to spit half of it out. My French fries were raw. My daughter got an egg and avocado sandwich. The sandwich was soggy and the avocado was brown. The whole sandwich was cold and her breakfast potatoes were not cooked. We won’t be back.

The only reason i’m giving this place two stars is because of the waitstaff was very nice. The food not so good. We had breakfast here today and I ordered typical bacon and eggs. How could you screw that up do you ask? The eggs were burnt and the home fries were greasy. I had to send the raw bacon back to be cooked. I asked for dry rye toast and got soggy bread with margarine soaked in. There are better places to eat. Hopefully the new owners will get their act together. My friends’ omelet was just ok.

Shaker Café changed ownership again two weeks ago. Tired it today and it was awful. The chocolate chip pancakes were smothered in chocolate to the point they were inedible. The breakfast burrito didn’t have chorizo like the menu said and it was cold so cheese was t melted(was t even sure what cheese was in it). Side potatoes were uncooked as well. The menu was smaller and frankly nothing was worthwhile eating.

Stopped by after a game at diamond nation, Sunday morning around 10, and they were understaffed and the lone chef said he was«closed».

Had loved this place in the past, but today was not so good. After noticing the menu was different I went on Facebook and saw that there is a new owner. Food didn’t taste as good and the cook had left and they had to abruptly close.

The place was cool looking but the staff was not friendly and… 1) pancakes should not come covered in sugar 2) a muffin should not come split and pre buttered 3) A turkey BLT(toasted, hold the tomato) should come with bacon & lettuce and be toasted. It came as plain turkey on plain bread. No mayo, dressing, anything. 4) an avacado sandwich should have avacado on both sides and come with the pepper jack cheese it’s supposed to have. 5) the breakfast burrito should come with chorizo sausage(not kielbasa), pepper jack cheese(didn’t use it) and a sun dried tomato wrap not plain. Oh and it was supposed to have salsa, which it didn’t have either. They never came to ask how the meal was and when I went up to pay because she never came to us, she informed me that I couldn’t use a debit card. Not a big deal, they normally take them but it was just bad timing.

We discovered this place through Unilocal and found it easily enough on Main St, surrounded by tons of other little restaurants shops, and newsstands. Parking is street and might be tight on weekends, but was fine on a random Wednesday morning. The inside is Sooooo kitschy! Every table top is painted differently — ours had little baby feet trailing along it, and another had sign language for a bunch of different foods. The walls are also covered with things to look at while you’re waiting for food. Food was fresh — home fries were freshly cut with peppers and onions, chorizo seemed like it might have been local, and the coffee was great, too! My waffle was just okay, but great for $ 5. Complete breakfast for two with meat sides was less than $ 25. We’re definitely coming back to try lunch.

Ok so I’ve been here 3 times now. I find the food to be good for their prices. Portion size are reasonable. From the outside you would think this is a small place but once you come in, it’s actually a nice size with plenty of seating. The service is a bit slow. The waitstaff doesn’t know too much about the menu.

A perfect little gem. When available, we always opt for a counter seat, and posted up at Shaker right in front of this old vintage table lamp that I wanted to take home with me oh so bad. Our server was all filled with love, doll, hun, and stuff and that is just what you would expect from a place like this. Boyfiend made his own omelet. I opted for the Elvis(peanut butter, bacon, banana) Waffle. We both cleared our places to the bone. Our coffee was kept fresh the whole time, we were checked up on multiple times, our tab didn’t even come close to breaking the bank, this was a great place for breakie and we’ll be back!

I’ve been to shaker café three times. Every time I know what to expect. Average coffee. If you want fancy coffee don’t recommend coming here. It’s pretty much your typical break/brunch quick stop. I say that because the food is nothing special, I could make food just as good at home. Which isn’t saying much. It’s cheap though and pretty quick. It’s a good spot to try on a Sunday when you don’t feel like cooking, but you don’t want to sit down, however you want to sit down. The inside is tacky but it’s nice to sit down in eat. The service is good I’ll give it that! Overall I rate it at 3 because the food isn’t anything special.

The place looks cool, but overall very disappointed in the food. My omelette was over-cooked, dry & tasteless. The breakfast potatoes had no flavor. The owner, wearing gloves, was cooking and simultaneously using his cellphone which we all know is teeming with germs, so that grossed me out. Server wasn’t bad.

I want to first start off by saying, I came in really wanting to like the place. I have read good things in my local newspaper and that it was recently under new ownership(I cannot compare this place to what it was like before as this was my first visit). The eclectic décor and hipster yet cozy setting made me feel at home. I went on a Sunday afternoon and although the breakfast menu was tempting, I opted for lunch. I ordered a green salad with chicken and my mom got a panini with grilled chicken. We also decided to share a side of sweet potato fries. Do not come here with an appetite(thankfully I didn’t but my mother was starving). The food must have took a solid 45 minutes to come out. Mind you, there was a family of four that was already there when we got there and a couple that came in much after us. I can understand if the place was slammed and if you can see the waiters buzzing around getting a good workout in the process, a wait could be expected. However, I don’t think it takes too long to throw a salad together, even a gourmet one(which this was not). When the food finally arrived, the chicken was missing and when I asked, I was told that they did make the chicken to go with the salad and«rushed out» the meal(in my mind: umm really??) before they could put it on. The salad quickly came back as it was supposed to be. The sweet potato fries were also paired with my mom’s panini which is logical, but she clearly specified to the waiter she wanted it as a side dish so we can both share it. Not the end of the world, especially considering the sweet potato fries were extra crispy and one of the highlights of the meal. My salad was not worth its value(very little chicken, mainly just spinach) but their homemade balsamic vinaigrette was notably good. This was actually a happy accident because I specified I did not want the vinaigrette, I want the actual balsamic vinegar. Another slip up on the waiter’s part but to his defense, waiters never seem to realize there is a difference between a vinaigrette and a vinegar! My mom said the panini was really good and took her time to enjoy it in its entirety. The waiter had dropped off the bill while she was still eating and came back in a short time frame to ask if it was settled. Although she was almost finished, she was clearly still eating and remarked back to the waiter, «I’m not even done eating yet.» She then went on to tell me, she has never been to a place asking for the bill to be settled before her meal was finished. The food was mediocre but not worth the time it took to make it and sadly, not even photo worthy. This was also not quite the best dining experience between the ongoing slip-ups with the order, lack of attention during our stay, excessive meal delay, and rushed bill at the end.

New ownership … So we purchased a Groupon coupon and went. Food was good, service(James) was good. We’d try this place again.

Been here many times with the previous owners. Food WAS always good. However, went for a quick bite for lunch — took about 40 minutes to get food. I ordered a chimichanga but what I got was a soft taco with some beans and a little cheese that was cooked on the grill to brown. It was supposed to be served with salsa and sour cream. Had to ask for that and the salad that was on the menu was substituted with french fries. My fiancé had a simple bacon cheeseburger. Asked for it medium, it was a hockey puck and very dry. We will never go back again.

It’s an adorable kitschy kinda of restaurant as you can tell from the photos. The problem comes in when the service and food quality do not match. Apparently it is a «seat yourself establishment» and you find out when someone states«You can just grab a seat anywhere .» It would be nice to be greeted with a «good morning» or welcome of some sort. Our server approached the table without introducing herself or smiling and inquired about beverage selection when in fact we were first time patrons so an inquiry about whether it was my first time or if I am familiar with the establishment would have made it an awesome first impression. The menu offers an interesting selection of pancakes and nice thick Challah French toast which my companion ordered and loved. Unfortunately, my silverware was stained and dirty and had to be exchanged for plastic. My food arrived looking very appealing however my side of home fries were cold and when I approached the counter to report it another woman who was paying stated, «Yours too? Mine were ice cold– I just didn’t want to say anything.» They remade my potatoes and the server just dropped them off at the table without a word. In all– I would say that it’s a shame to have this be my first impression of this restaurant. It seems that there is an apathy and complacency with regard to customer service. I saw one table get up and leave after 10 minutes and another group walk in wait to be seated and then walk out after not being acknowledged. With some training in customer service and a mature on site manager this could be a cute place for brunch.

My wife and I stopped in for breakfast at somewhere other than a big noisy dinner. The good: My wife had wonderful Lemon Poppy Pancakes. I had eggs over easy with homemade cornbeef hash. The hash was great, but portion was skimpy. The bad: One waiter who was hustling, without any help. An older woman waitress was wondering around without a clue… she breezed by our table asking if we needed anything, we said yes could freshen up our coffee, and she replied you have to ask your waiter. Then she proceeded to go outside and smoke. Useless is the only word to describe her. She should be let go immediately and someone skills should be hired. Doubt that we will ever go back. Which is a shame because the place has potential.

I loved this place when before the current owners and staff. The quirkiness of the décor is thanks to the original owners. The owners and staff had tons of personality and made it fun to be there. the food was great. Current owners and staff, not so much. The current owners fired all of the old staff, and there went the charm. Also, there went the service. I never get what I order now, and I am not picky. I’ll pass. There are more fun places to go, with better food.
