Long John Silver’s

I think Woody Allen referred to second marriages as the triumph of hope over experience. He only said that because he’s never been here.
The LJS food is so rich, I cannot imagine eating it regularly. But then you see a coupon… and you have hungry children.
So you drive up to this LJS, which is combined with a KFC. So immediately it is inferior to a regular LJS. Of course, I’m not even sure if there are free-​standing LJS anymore. There used to be one in Florence. There was one in Erlanger. Now?
So you lost the LJS chips in favor of KFC potato wedges. I’m sure there are those that call it a trade up. And you lose the LJS slaw in favor of the Colonel’s formula. Again, not an improvement in my opinion. But at least you know this going in.
I place the order. Pretty simple. Fish & More (2pc) and a Chicken & More (3 pc). They even called it an L4 & L5. Fine. I asked to order additional hushpuppies (daughter loves them, as do I). They said ok.
That was it. Pretty basic order. I pull up. I pay. They tell me it will be a 4 minute wait for fresh fish. OK. They ask if I can pull forward to the right.
Now, most drive thru places have a designated place, frequently clearly marked. I looked forward, to the right. «You mean over there by the guardrail?» I ask, indicating the poorly lit guardrail downhill that didn’t look like if my car parked there that it would really provide much clearance space for passing cars. «Yes Sir.»
«Ok.»
We waited. It was right at 4 minutes. Guy brought our bag. Did I double check it? No. How difficult could the order be?
Got home. Opened package. L4? Check. L5? check. Tarter sauce? Check. Napkins? At the drive through, they even have a big sign on the register so it’s visible to everybody «DON’T FORGET THE NAPKINS». Napkins? Check.
Where are the hushpuppies? *Sad trombone noise*.
In the great scheme of things, missing extra hushpuppies isn’t a very large thing. I only got chiseled for a $ 1. But it’s the small things that make a drive thru experience good, or at least convenient. I know the LJS/​KFC is going to disappoint on some level. But did they have to screw up the hushpuppies? Maybe instead of a «DON’T FORGET THE NAPKINS» sign, there could be an «DOUBLE CHECK THE ORDER» sign?
I’m sure I’ll be back to this place next year when a craving overcomes my memories of how disappointing this place is, and how it especially pales against the full-​service LJS of yesteryear. Maybe I’ll remember to double check for hushpuppies next time before I leave the lot.

This restaurant is not the best we came in about 5 minutes to close and all I have to say is mine and my moms corn was cold and my wifes fries where not hot.

This is the combined KFC/​Long John Silvers location. I’m rating the Long Johns food since that’s what I got. I took a star off for the restaurant being dirty.
L2 2 Chicken And 2 Fish Combo and an order of onion rings.
What Is It: It comes with 2 pieces of batter dipped fish and 2 pieces of batter dipped chicken. The combo itself also comes with 3 hushpuppies. I got a side order of onion rings as well.
Taste: One of the things people say about Long John Silver’s and I agree with is that everything tastes very similar due to them using the same batter on most of their food. That being said I don’t consider that a bad thing as I like the batter a lot. It is really delicious on the fish especially. I like it with their tartar sauce. The chicken is really delicious also. While the batter is the same the chicken itself is really juicy and delicious. Hushpuppies are one of the things Long John Silver’s is known for and with good reason. It’s my favourite thing that they have have. I can’t really describe the flavour as you just have to try it for yourself but I can assure you that every bite is a perfect bite. The onion rings are kind of mediocre. They’re not terrible but the batter doesn’t work as well with the onions as some other things. This is a good combo to get to get a taste of some of Long John Silver’s best flavours.

Very happy with the great and fast service! Friendly people, and it takes no time to get your food. Food was hot and ready!
