Place is a bit loud for my taste Chips are a bit burnt but the salsa has a great flavor, a little on the thin side. Their tacos can rival la Mexicana in Newport KY. The potions of meat on their tacos are very generous. I’m struggling to eat my third. Meat tastes great but a bit dry, could use guajillo sauce

It was okay. Came here for lunch purely based on Unilocal recommendations. The chips and salsa were great, hard to mess up. I ordered the taco with aged steak… It was so tough I literally could not bite through the steak. Glad I only ordered one. Also ordered the carne asada burrito, MASSIVE! And tasty. As big as it is, it is a simple dish of steak, shredded cheese, guacamole and sour; Small side salad. I added rice and beans, so that doctored up the burrito a bit. For $ 14 it wasn’t bad, but it is not San Diego Mexican by any stretch!!! Not sure I’ll be back :/

Really good, really affordable taqueria food right here in Florence Kentucky. If you’re looking for tacos with cheese and shredded lettuce and tomato and avocado and all that stuff, forget it. you won’t find that here. What you will find it’s something more basic, and a whole lot more delicious. Just a pair of tortillas hot off the comal with some exceptionally well cooked and and seasoned meats, with onions and/or cilantro(which you can skip if you don’t like onions and/or cilantro). And, at two bucks apiece, they’re absolutely delicious. Your basket comes with tacos, of course, and some crunchy sliced radishes and cucumbers to munch alongside. This is the kind of place that rewards the adventurous. In addition to all the usual items, there are some autentico gems on on the menu like cecina, which is aged beef; tripas, crunchy-fried bits of cow’s or pig’s intestines; or lengua(tongue) or buche(pig’s face). They may sound creepy to our dumbed-down American palates, but they’re worth sampling and what the heck, they’re only 2 bucks. So don’t be a wimp: get one and take a bite and see if you like it! It’s difficult to talk about«authentic» with what one Mexican writer describes as «our original garbage food”– in Mexico, authentic tacos are served with anything from meat to fried grasshoppers to corn fungus to fish or fresh vegetables. So instead of «authentic» I’ll just say Taqueria Ramirez reminds me of some of the best family-style places I’ve been to in California and Colorado, unassuming little places in working-class neighborhoods tucked away in a little strip mall someplace and frequented almost exclusively by local Mexicans. And the food here is just as good as it is there.

I’m just visiting town for a few days and I was in this neighborhood so I checked out the nearby restaurants and saw the reviews for this place and decided to try it. When I pulled up and looked in the windows I almost didn’t go in. There were only a few people in there and the establishment looked a little shady to me but I decided to go in anyway. Glad I did! Food was outstanding I had the street tacos chorizo and steak. Really good food

This place is somewhat hard to find, but worth it. I’m not Mexican, and have in fact never even been to Mexico, but the food(in my case, carne asada tacos) tasted very authentic. Service was great, and I loved the décor.

Very authentic, excellent food and service. As a transplant from the west, I long for fabulous Mexican Food. I had the carnitas and highly recommend. My son had a burrito and ate every morsel. Don’t let the location/exterior scare you away.

As a Mexican-American from Chicago, I was scared I’d never find authentic Mexican food after I moved to Cincinnati. Luckily for me, I passed this restaurant once and it caught my eye. I gave it a shot and ended up going 4x in a span of 10 days. I’m not embarrassed to admit it either because they’re great and their prices are so reasonable! When you first walk in you’ll notice the authentic(albeit mismatched) furniture, bright décor, and bar. It’s great! They have a great beer selection including my favorite– Victoria. I’ve had their tacos de lengua(cow tongue) and carne Asada. Both are phenomenal! I’ve also had their gorditas which are HUGE. They have a yummy horchata(authentic Mexican rice water) that I highly recommend as well. The servers are friendly but English isn’t their first language, so don’t expect long exchanges of dialogue. I never leave room for dessert but they have authentic offerings like flan. They also have elotes, Mexican corn on the cob. Again, haven’t tried it but dying to!

Took my wife and daughter here for dinner tonight. I got the chicken fajitas and she got 2 chicken tacos. The fajitas were so good and the portion size was quite large! The food overall reminded me of a place you would find in the Southwest, not Kentucky. The waitress was super nice and friendly. Overall we really enjoyed our experience and I suspect we will be becoming regulars!

The tacos at Taqueria Ramirez is where it’s at. I can eat their carne asada tacos every week. Also, quesadillas are really good. I haven’t tried the fajitas yet, but that’s next on the list. The ambience leaves a lot to be desired, however, for the great price and delicious food I can deal with it.

Carne asado tacos are great. The cheese quesadilla is really good, lots of cheese. Rice is some of the best the area has to offer since Camino Real closed. Authentic feel to the place and certainly tastes authentic.

Very authentic food… I had steak chilequilles … BF had a steak torta(sandwich). No problem with my service dog. Very reasonably priced… about $ 20 for two. Carrots and jalapeños and a basket of chips and bowl of medium spiced salsa on the table. Nice people, fills up at the lunch hour, until about 2:00. Recommend.

Ever since moving to Cincinnati from Chicago, I’ve been looking for a really good home style Mexican place. More specifically, one that carried real gorditas. When I saw that this place had them, I was a bit skeptical since other places I tried always let me down. My boyfriend and I ordered 3 gorditas(2 steak with beans, 1 rajas con queso) and 2 cecina tacos. After somewhat of a long wait, we finally got our food. It smelled wonderful even through the takeout containers. We got home and opened the containers and hugged each other in joy. The gorditas were perfect in every way, the filling to masa ratio was on point and after one bite we fell in love. The tacos we had were also some of the best we’ve tried in Cincinnati. If you’re looking for real Mexican food, definitely check this place out. The only thing I would recommend is that if you’re doing a pick up order, definitely call ahead!

Walking into this place for the first time was a lot like a movie scene where the protagonist first locks eyes with their love interest. I saw the classic red booths and mismatched décor you’d see replicated at Mexican groceries and knew I stumbled onto something great. I’ve been searching for a respectable gordita place in Cincinnati/NKY for a long time. Nearly every place I’ve gone to either neglects to offer them or they botch them horribly. Finding ‘gorditas’ on the menu here I nearly fainted. Seeing that they had legit options like rajas de chile con queso(poblano peppers and cheese) and nopalitos(cactus and cheese) almost made me start jumping for joy. I quickly order a few gorditas. When they arrive at my table I think about starting a slow clap. They pass the eyeball test – a beautiful golden, thick masa tortilla, stuffed with beans, cheese and carne asada. Good start. I take a bite and know hands down I’ve found Cincinnati/NKY’s most respectable gordita joint. The rajas de chile con queso gordita is spilling with sauteed onions and poblano. It’s tasty. I’m topping my carne asade gordita with their salsa verde and I’m feeling good. At the end of my three gordita lunch I’m stuffed. Will definitely be back to try some of their cecina tacos, which, I can only assume will be equally amazing.

I was expecting much better food based on other reviews, but alas, it mostly fell short of my expectations. The salsa was decent, but the tortilla chips were stale. My chicken quesadilla was bland. Paul did enjoy his tacos – he liked the carne asada better than the carnitas. Service was fast and friendly and I mostly enjoyed the divey atmosphere. The hard-bench booths have to go!

I travel all across the country and try to stay away from the national restaurants whenever possible. This often becomes an issue since my work is in NASCAR racing and we’re not often spending the race weekend in a major metropolitan area. This was where I found myself this weekend, just south of Cincinnati, in Florence, Kentucky near the airport. Of course I took to Unilocal! To find dinner and Taqueria Ramirez was literally next to my hotel. It was a rare find, indeed. The five star rating came without much hesitation after I got back to the hotel. Everything about this place makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a restaurant in Monterrey or Mexico City. None of the faux Mexican or Tex-Mex junk here. Authentic, flavorful and aromatic. The other patrons spoke Spanish as their first language, from what I could tell. My Spanish is pretty good. I get along OK in Mexico. So that told me immediately that this would be an excellent choice for dinner. It absolutely was! I had the Camarrones Diabla(spicy shrimp) based upon a previous reviewers recommendation. Washed down with a Dos XX it was a perfect meal. Finding a place like this is like finding a nugget of gold in a stream or a $ 100 bill in your jeans pocket you forgot about. If you’re anywhere close, it is worth the drive. It’s just off Exit 182 on I-71 in Florence. Skip all the chain restaurants in the area and get a fantastic meal here.

I had the spicy shrimp plate, which came with rice, beans, lettuce and grilled onions. It was freaking delicious. I slice Mexico in Kentucky. Who’d of thought?

After a recent trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, my husband and I were craving some good Mexican food. After consulting Unilocal for good local Mexican, we settled on this place. We were glad we did! It seemed very authentic and the food was delicious. The prices were good too. We ordered guacamole and pico to go with our chips. They were very good, maybe not quite as good as the stuff we got poolside at our resort that was made fresh, but still very good and fresh. I got the Carnitas platter and it was a huge plate of food for $ 10. Now I have another meal for later. My husband enjoyed the carnitas burrito and my kids liked the quesadillas. After getting there, my husband realized he had eaten there once before with friends and he had gotten something with chicken and hadn’t been too impressed. Apparently, the pork is the way to go here. It was indeed delicious. My five year old kept eating mine off of my plate. The service was pretty good also. Overall excellent choice for good Mexican food and I would definitely recommend it!

Good, inexpensive, quality Mexican food. Felt authentic and the service was friendly and fast. The salsa, queso, and chips were great – all tasted fresh. The Al Pastor taco was delicious and had a ton of flavor! Would definitely come back if I am in the area again.

This place is right next to my hotel and decided that I needed to have more tacos in my life. I ordered the cecina(aged steak), lengua and al pastor tacos and when I found out they didn’t have any kind of taco plates, I ordered a side of rice. The salsa they give you with your chips when you first sit down tasted fresh, but lacked heat and salt. When the tacos arrived I asked for a spicier salsa and the waitress was nice enough to bring me two different kinds: a green tomatillo and a spicy red salsa. The rice was too salty but went nicely with the tacos. I wouldn’t recommend the cecina because it was incredibly tough which makes it hard to eat when there’s just one large piece rather than little bite size ones. The al pastor tasted okay but it came out almost like ground pork. It wasn’t the juicy al pastor that I’m used to. The lengua was by far the best taco out of the three and I regret not getting more of them. Overall, I’m glad I came here for lunch. 3 tacos, side of rice and iced tea = $ 11.

Ok, this was a fun one. (I hope no one takes offense to this.) Have you ever seen Three Amigos? You know the scene where Steve Martin, Chevy Chase and Martin Short all walk into the saloon for the first time? — The whole place stops. Everyone stares. And, it’s just a bit uncomfortable. That is, until Lucky Day busts out«My Little Buttercup». Classic. This is basically what happened when my wife and 2 blonde boys walked into Taqueria Ramirez last Sunday, minus the piano and singing. Ha! We sat ourselves in a back table, and tried to blend in as much as humanly possible. No chance, but we did our best. The good news? We immediately knew this place was AUTHENTIC. When every Mexican who lives around or near Florence is eating in this place, you know you’re not at Chi-Chi’s any more. Now — the food. We ordered tacos and an asada quesadilla(easy for the kids). The tacos are CHEAP!!! $ 2 for a taco. Compared to La Mexicana, you are getting more meat in the taco(and waaaay more than Bakersfield). The shells are homemade and good, but not dripping with oil like they are at Mexicana. That said, the al pastor is less flavorful than La Mexicana, but the carnitas! HOLYCOW!!! Delicioso! Very flavorful, pretty salty, excellent! Definitely want to go back for those. The steak quesadilla was, eh. The chips and salsa were eh. The service was friendly and attentive. There were a few language barriers, but nothing serious. I’d love to go back and try other dishes. I noticed the regulars were not ordering too many tacos or quesadillas. Saw a lot of other dishes I’d like to try. If you want a CHEAP and authentic mexican bite, this is the place.
