Called a couple days ago asking about the sushi conveyor belt. I was told it is only on weekdays from 11 — 1 and I was also told the price. I repeated«only 11 to 1 on weekdays, is that right?» and the lady said«yes». Since I am legally blind and do not drive, I paid someone to take me there — today, Tuesday 6÷7÷16. Got there at 11AM. Asked for a seat on the conveyor belt. I was told it is only Wednesday through Friday. I said it would be nice if you told your callers the days. Woman argued with me and INSISTED that I did NOT call. I do not like being called a liar and will not go back.

I’m 0 for 2 now on Sushi in this area… Everything except the soft shell crab appetizer was just okay. We started with the tuna tataki which tasted like nothing until I added lime juice. We had the gyoza which was pretty good and another tuna appetizer that was rolled around jalapeño slices, also had no distinct flavor. We got a roll, the Flying Dragon again(you guessed it!) just no flavor. It needed a sauce or something I guess. The soft shell crab was really really good! Perfectly fried with tempura batter and the sauce really went well with it. Great dish! The great service we received along with the soft shell crab was the reason for the 3 stars. I might come back for the crab but that’s it. Someone please help me find good sushi around here!!!

The yellowtail is excellent, as is the kō-ika(squid). Definitely recommend that you try these two. I’ve had the sashimi plate and also individual sushi plates, both were good! Can’t beat Japan’s fresh selection, but it’s delicious.

Bonsai used to be the place for hibachi food in the Jackson Metro, but I honestly think Ichiban is better. The environment is a lot newer feeling and sets a better mood. You can choose to sit in a table/chairs portion of the restaurant or the hibachi side. The portions are HUGE and the prices are pretty decent for this type of food. We’ve never had to wait for a hibachi grill, but the parking lot is always packed. It’s definitely an excellent place for a fun, filling meal!

Was in town for work and stumbled on this place looking for food. Jason the bar keep was super friendly and funny. Loved him! Sushi roll and soup I ordered was good.

The only place I will eat salmon sashimi. The sushi specials is prepared in a way that is pleasing to site and taste. The tuna lover and rainbow rolls is also a favorite.

Sushi was not good. Hoping it was just because it was an off day and that it will be better next time. Nice atmosphere though.

Food was very good. My husband and I were there for lunch, first time. Cooks were skillful and entertaining. Ready to go back…

Food was good. I ordered the steak and scallop hibachi lunch. However, the waitress staff was less than desirable.

Best sushi in Jackson area. Nothing like their buffet restaurant down the street. Huge portions, high quality fish. Very modern atmosphere. Very good date place.

My hubby and I went in for dinner on a Friday night, and due to the lack of food quality and rushed serving we won’t be back. The restaurant was understandably busy, and had a 20 – 30 min wait(which took the full 30 min). What I didn’t expect was the restaurants’ kid-tastic entertainment. The hibachi chefs have gone out of the norm to pull in amusing(and loud) antics to keep the kiddos attention — this includes loud horns and bells. That’s why I have them 2 stars instead of one. Upon sitting the server immediately insisted on us placing our order with no time to look at the menu. My husband who always gets the same thing at hibachi places wasn’t as disturbed by this as I was — since I wanted a minute to look through their sushi rolls. Since the waiter ignored my request for another minute(and instead stared me down until I ordered) I just hurried and ordered the chicken. Then about 2 minutes after he left I found the sushi roll I wanted. Of course it was too late to change orders by the time he showed back up – so I ordered the sushi in addition to the chicken. The chef then rush-cooked the hibachi in the fastest possible manner and the server brought out To Go boxes and our checks simultaneously with the serving of the final veggies. I felt like I was being herded out the door — as if we were cattle. Oh, and then after our checks & To Go boxes were provided my sushi finally showed up. The sushi was the best part of the evening. Beyond the annoyance of the sense of being very rushed to finish and get out, the quality of the food was some what south of what I would expect for a $ 25 plate of hibachi. I could have had the same low-quality at the same quick speed for a fraction of the cost at one of the local quick stop hibachi chains – without all the bells and whistles of course. I’m seriously underwhelmed.

This by far is the best sushi around, they get shipments in on Thursday and Fridays. I challenge you to find better fresher sushi anywhere else. I absolutely love this place

Hands down, Ichiban has the freshest fish in this area. They have a very friendly staff who always greets their customers with a warm welcome. I literally eat here 2 or 3 times a week. This is my go-to spot to meet a friend for sushi or join my whole family for hibachi.

Ichiban Grill and Sushi is our family’s fav. The hibachi grill is great. Always fresh food. Our favorite is the scallops. However, I think their best stuff is their sushi. Always prepared fresh. Later in the week for lunch, they have the sushi carousel that parades all types of sushi rolls around for you to pick what you like. A great deal and it is fresh as well. I don’t think we have ever had a bad meal here. I particularly like their Dancing Roll. If you want something different off the menu, ask Daniel for the grilled yellow tail. It is a delight!

I hate to read these low reviews. We eat at Ichiban at least once a month. We always have fantastic service — they have a very friendly staff. We do eat sushi more than hibachi — so that might be the difference. The sushi here is my favorite in the Jackson area. My favorite is the King Tempura Roll. And, crazy enough, they have some of the best sweet tea of any restaurant in the area.

My boyfriend and I went here for Valentine’s Day because we were craving hibachi. The service was pretty good considering they were pretty crowded. We sat at the bar and had a couple of drinks while we waited for our table. The beer was pretty cheap… guess it was a special because of V day. The food was good… I prefer the hibachi places in New Orleans. It’s a pretty good place to go if you want fresh sushi, hibachi and good service. We will probably visit again. There is a pretty good deal for 2($ 50) that inclused hibachi filet mignon, lobster, shrimp, scallops, rice, veggies, soup, and salad.

Pretty unimpressive. Ordered the shrimp and steak. Shrimp was obviously frozen and the steak was very chewy. Almost gave them 2 stars but the price was a bit higher than the average hibachi as well.

I was kind of disappointed in this place… When you walk in the restaurant you are wowed by the atmosphere of the place. Very modern and neat but still kind of casual. I think it kind of gave me greater expectations. The food was good but it wasn’t worth the price. Sashimi was WAY too expensive for what the give you. Everything was good but the service was slow and we were the only ones at the bar… Just all together not worth the price… I would eat at the other sushi bars in Jackson before I ate at this one again. I would like to experience the nights when they have the rolls go by on the train(kaiten)… and I bet the hibachi is good.
