The woman who works in the front desk was very rude, everyone else were ok. The food and drinks were really bad!!! Every time I came here with different group friends always some bad things happened … I probably will never ever come again!

We came to DIYKTV on a Monday evening without a reservation. We were greeted by a bouncer and then led to the second floor where one of the staff lead us to our room. To non-Chinese speakers, the English proficiency of the staff was very limited but they understood basic questions such as room rates per hour. We were given a medium-sized room with a bathroom inside. The interior is modern and clean with an electronic system to navigate through songs. On the downside, the system is all in Chinese so it took us a good 10 minutes to figure out how it works. Fortunately, we managed to type in song titles or artists in a search box with an English alphabet provided. Although their English song selection is quite decent, I wish there was more variety in terms of genres, especially rock. I also liked the fact that there were original music videos included with the particular songs. After one hour karaōke session, the pay came out to be $ 30. Not exactly cheap but worth the experience. Although I imagine it may be cheaper before 8pm since we arrived here at 8:30pm. I would not mind returning to this place on a weekday. Hoping to see more English songs in the future as well.

Although I had a terrible first experience, I likely will be coming back here. This place is pretty new, they have a large parking lot, the sound and light system are pretty good and the system is easy to use except that, of course, the system is in Chinese. Walking in at around 7:20 on a Sunday night, I see a bouncer right when I come through the doors and a passed out girl with her friend staying beside her. Someone comes from upstairs and asks us how big is our party, how long are we staying and what size room we wanted. We gave an answer, and he tells us to wait here while he checks the availability. Fine. A few minutes later he tells us to follow him upstairs and leads us into a room. Someone else now comes and explains their policy. Before 8pm, the price of our room is suppose to be $ 18. After 8pm, the price of our room shoots to $ 32. After hearing this, we ask the guy. So how much is our one hour going to be? And he says«$ 18.» Okay, so perfect! They have my friend sign a piece of paper, stating the rules including 15% service tip, and other stuff that WECANNOTREADBECAUSEWEDON’T READCHINESE. My friends and I sit down and have a blast, everything is really clean and I have no complaints at all. We ordered two bubble teas that are inclusive in the price of the room. The bubble teas(mango and coconut) were pretty bad and they were definitely powder bubble teas. The selection was not that extensive. Afterwards our bill comes out to $ 27 before tip which is like insane because we thought it was only suppose to be $ 18. Anyways, now. We ask the guy, «hey like what’s up with this bill because you said it would be $ 18» and he’s all like«yes. but our policy this and that» but the thing is, you guys were the one who told us it would only be $ 18! & Since our room time was split between the pre and post 8pm, they begin charging us by the minute after 8pm. WHILECUTTINGOURTIMESHORT. The bill stated we ended at 8:20 when they had cut our machine off by 8:10. This is crazy and daylight robbery, and if that wasn’t frustrated enough. to be hit with what I felt like were hidden charges, he takes out that piece of paper my friend signed earlier which is like self-incrimination so at that point we’re like fine. But their attitude is just horrible and we agree we should just come earlier next time. To put the cherry on top, he literally waits for me to sign the receipt.(BTW: if you use credit card, they will need your ID) and then he stands there and tells us how much to tip. Overall, the service here is terrible but their equipment and song list is definitely one of the more updated in the area! Just be sure to come well before 8pm to avoid the situation that I unfortunately faced!

As someone who grew up familiar with Asian karaōke establishments in flushing, I’m used to mediocre service and being told what to tip. I have been to DIY on a previous occasions years ago but I have never experience such bad customer service as I did last night. A friend and myself decided to go for some late night karaōke on a Saturday night. When I initially called DIY to book a reservation around 9:30 they told me a room would be available at 12am, which we agreed would work. At around 10pm I get a call that the person I spoke to made a mistake and the room would not be free until 12:30am. They gave us the option to get a medium sized room for $ 48 an hour($ 12 increase from small room rate) at 12am instead. After speaking to my friend we decided that we could wait that out. I call back to confirm and they tell me that even though the room will be free at 12:30 they will need to clean it and we won’t be able to get the room till around 1am. At this point I’m fairly annoyed and just want to get a room so we try and compromise and see if we can get the medium sized room for 12am-1am and then switch to the small room for 1am-2am. The lady on the phone informs me that we cannot because then we are taking up two of the rooms that they could otherwise be scheduling to other customers. So at this point my friend and I are so frustrated we cancel the room and start looking for another karaōke place. After calling a few other fully booked places, it is 12am at this point and we did not want the whole night to be a waste so we call DIY back to see if the 1am room is still available. Amazingly they say that they have a 12am room available because someone cancelled and we can have it right away! Looks like the night is looking up at this point so we take it. Once we get to the room I ask for a bottle of cold water as the room was quite stuffy due to the warmer weather. After 20 min and no water I try to press the attendant button only to find it doesn’t work. I walk outside and ask for a bottle of cold water and the waiter hands me a bottle of lukewarm water and practically runs out of the room not even responding when I say excuse me twice before the door closed behind him. I walk outside again and find a waiter who changes the water for me. After that neither my friend not myself order anything else for our remaining two hour stay. Now before they allow your session to start they ask you to sign a agreement for mandatory 15% tip. My friend signed the agreement without reading it through. As we were leaving we decided that they did not deserve 15% tip. We left them around 10% tip and left. On our way out the attendant at the door blocked the door and told us we had to pay more money for tip. I have never been blocked from exit at an establishment for not paying the exact amount of tip. I argued for a bit but seeing as how at this point it was around 2am and my friend and I are both females, we decided to pay and leave. Due to my previous experience here being so-so I decided to give two stars. I will try to go again and see if my experience there is any better.

Nice place for karaōke. Place is comfortable, decent song selections and parking available. Location is definitely a plus but food/drink selections were mediocre. We came on a Saturday afternoon and had a medium size room with bathroom. It was $ 21/hour and we stayed for 3 hours. We’ve never been to KTV in US before and wish they had explain to us that $ 21 was deductible towards the food/drinks. We didn’t order up to the full amount and didn’t know till we saw the bill. The room we were in bathroom door was damaged. Wish they would fix it because it gives a bad image.

Great spot. Great spot. Came here with my coworkers for her birthday at around 2 pm. The price was 10 dollars an hour for the room. Which is a pretty great surprise. However they did not sell cocktails only bottles. The only single serving drinks, are beers or not alcoholic drinks. The selection of music is okay. The people were attentive nd a very nice. Overall had a great time. Oh and definitely definitely definitely bring cash!

Good sound system and atmosphere. Smoking customer makes it terrible for non smoking. Their drinks were pretty terrible, over sweeten. The food actually brought us the wrong one. Tasted pretty bad. The host at the front door to get in was a pain in the ass. We already had friends inside and made us jump through a bunch of hoops to get in.

One of the more popular karaōke places in flushing. The sound system’s great and service is good too. Food/drinks aren’t as great(as usual). Price is definitely better if you go during daytime, before 7pm. Make sure you call ahead to reserve the room.

** Make sure you call and make a reservation ** I came here a few times and it’s honestly the only karaōke place I trust. Karaōke’s price is pretty low. However, your bill is high if you order food. You get your own bathroom when you get your own room. Before 7PM — around $ 24 per hour After 8PM — around $ 41 per hour Their fries are so goooooooood. But their food are really expensive for a small amount. Lucky for them, I won’t argue because they were very delicious. The songs are almost updated. They have recent top songs(e.g. Fancy by Iggy Azalea). However, their singers are not updated at all. They have singers such as Hillary Duff, Mariah Carey, and other singers who doesn’t even produce anymore songs. I also suggest you to sing far from your food and beverages. You might crack the cups and stuff because literally, EVERYTHINGISGLASS. I recommend this place to groups.

Finally a place with the original music videos in the background. Our room smelled like cigarette smoke, which wasn’t very pleasant. They have a good selection of English songs and Asian songs. If you don’t want to drink alcohol, they have Chinese tea. I enjoyed drinking my chrysanthemum tea, plus it helps you sing better! The drink prices are cheaper if you are a member, which I am not, obviously. We were 10 min late but they refused to give us 10 min extra, well that was our bad anyways. They kicked us out on the dot. Also, even though we tipped 15%(due to the room smelling bad our microphone ran out of batteries halfway), the waiter came back demanding $ 10 more. Only in Flushing will they tell you how much tip they want.

The service people are very rude! I was shocked! They charged me more than the fare when I booked. When I argued the price they said to me that you don’t need to pay tips you don’t even need to come! This is the worst service I ever got in NYC. Will never visit this place again.

The rooms have cups, but no water. I think they expect you to get sink water from their private bathroom… But the facility is 5⁄5. Private bathroom = A+ all the time. It’s clean, and comfortable, and there are cool light effects. They do bag checks though. Song selection sucks though. They have a more updated Chinese karaōke system, but it STILL sucks. Maybe it’s because I’m expecting American songs, but what the heck– some of the videos are so shoddy. The price is only good in the daytime, and that’s the only reason why I go. It’s soooo cheap in the daytime. Also, take a chinese speaking friend(mando i think) with you because you might need that kind of communication. It was ok without one though.

This was my second experience at a karaōke bar, and this place is far more impressive than the other location that I went to. They have a wide selection of songs and are pretty up to date with current pop songs. I can’t really review much on the food since I didn’t really buy any from here, but I had a blast with my friends. It’s a very neat and clean place and it the rooms have a cute setup. The pricing is also very fair. I would definitely come back here again. Looking forward to it!

DIY is one of the biggest and cleanest karaōke houses in Flushing with a trendy and modern club-vibe. Their rooms have a private bathroom and are charged per room per hour. The cost of the room also goes towards the drink tab, which makes it pretty inexpensive, especially if you’re in a large group. Their songs are also accompanied by the original music video for a complete experience. A few of the songs, like Taylor Swift’s Shake It Off, were missing lyrics though. Their system supports English now so no more blindly poking at the screen if you can’t read Chinese! You can also skip songs, promote a song on the list to be next in line, and glance at the list of songs already added.

Situation: On a whim, my guy and I thought it would be a fun time to go karaōke our hearts out, so we Über’d it over to Flushing for some karaōke at DIYuan Clubhouse followed by some congee(he challenged me to eat something«weird», so I happily accepted and went for the frog congee, which was surprisingly good!). While we were at karaōke, we got some drinks and noodles just to hold us over until dinner. Got a karaōke room for only an hour, which was just the right amount of time, considering it was just the two of us. PROS –Clean facilities: For every new party, they change the foam covers on the microphones. I thought this hygienic practice was very considerate. The booths, tables, and floor were spic and span, and the room had no traces from its last inhabitants. Everything looked fairly new. –Impressive technology: With the touch screen monitor you can basically do everything from viewing the song selection and queuing them up to paging your waiter when you’re ready to order. In particular I was impressed by the graphic layout and music videos– usually the phrase«karaōke in Flushing» connotes really bootlegged computer graphics/videos. –Decent song selection: A respectable mix of Top 100 and oldies, as well as Chinese songs. –Surprisingly decent food: I was surprised by how much I liked the noodles. It was greasy, but in a good«hits-the-spot» way. VERY generous portions. Maybe it was so yummy just because I was peckish? Boba was fine, not much to comment on there. CONS –My only small complaint really is that the staff expects you to speak Chinese, which can be very awkward if like me, you look Asian but don’t speak Chinese(and yet everybody tends to assume that you do!). Luckily my guy speaks both Mandarin and Cantonese so all I had to do was nod and look like I knew what he was talking about, mwahaha! In a nutshell… Loved it, will come back again with a larger group and order a round of shots.

Ah DIY, I always have a love hate relationship with this place. For those that haven’t been here before, its a Chinese Karaōke place with better décor and interior than the other places around in Flushing. They definitely do spend money on making sure the place look nice. I believe most if not all of the room are suite style where the bathroom is within the room itself. The song selection system I think they upgraded them recently yet again and definitely seem to have more foreign(non-Chinese) songs than before. And if you go at off peak times(Week nights before 7−8pm or weekend afternoons) the prices are pretty cheap usually about $ 20 a room that’s big enough for dozen people I believe. Plus like most Chinese style Ktvs the cost of room covers the cost of the food you order. So those are the pluses, but half of the time when I been there I usually end up having issues with the microphone usually have to call the servers to exchange them multiple times. And definitely on the bottom tier in terms of friendliness as many times they have basically demanded 15+% tips and wouldn’t let go unless satisfied. I guess if you know what you’re getting into its a decent place. Ah so if you don’t speak or read Mandarin definitely bring a friend that could otherwise it’ll be very hard to navigate the sound system for sure.

Diyuan(DIY) Clubhouse is a modern, Hong Kong style karaōke place. Its beautiful and a bit clubby when you walk in. The rooms are spacious and the soundproofing is pretty good. Our room even had its own bathroom. Its definitely one of the nicest in terms of décor and comfort. That said, I disliked the song input system as it is entirely in Chinese and I felt like an idiot guessing how to use it. That said, if you can navigate it, the English song selection was great and had plenty of songs that we wanted. The video backgrounds were 80% the real music video which was super fun. The speakers and mics were also good — no feedback. Both our mics were out of batteries by the time our two hours were up however. Service was great as they come promptly when you call using the room system. The drinks were pricey though and they make you pay for water. My mint green tea had more food coloring than an Easter egg party. They don’t let you bring food in, but since you can eat/drink up to the room rate, I guess I shouldn’t complain? The prices are high though. Prices are good, as long as you don’t order more food/drinks over the room rate.

If you do not speak Chinese, then you will probably not be able to acquire a reservation here. If you cannot read Chinese, then you will not be able to queue up any songs. Aside from all that, this place is P-I-M-P! There are chandeliers everywhere and even in the hallways. Most of the rooms have their own bathroom. You will be subject to a bag check, but sometimes they will let you bring in your bubble tea. We were here during the daytime on a Saturday, so the room rates were very economical. I have no complaints about the price. They do have a menu that includes bing soo, bubble tea, and smoothies. There were also some noodle soups. But, it is best just to come here and sing. It is easiest to search by song title instead of by artist. You can also modify the voice and music volume. On some songs, you can add the vocal track back in as well, if you would just prefer to sing over. There is a nice Mandarin language song selection.
