I loved this place, but it’s now closed! So sad. A different restaurant now occupies its old space.

Mifen is so tasty and at a very reasonable price. Can’t ask more.

I’d describe my time here as adventurous, because I hadn’t tried mi fen/rice noodles before coming here. I walked into a long hallway, since this space is shaped into a long rectangle, and was seated quickly near the front entrance. I opted for the classic mi fen noodles, which was delicious for the most part, thanks to the broth, pickled string beans and smoked ham. The soy nuts threw me off a bit, because I’m not used to eating soft noodles with something crunchy. But otherwise, this dish was well-textured and flavorful! Enormous props to my server: he answered a lot of the questions I had, including one about how to eat the noodles(I was confused that the broth came in a separate bowl). He seemed to be very chill and okay with answering my questions. Also, there’s a large TV in the back that was playing some type of game show based in China, that everyone was tuning into, so I liked that about my experience here too.

They’ve unfortunately have fallen into the same routine as most Flushing restaurants. Starts out good, popularity increases slightly, then they try to cut costs and the food quality inevitably goes down. I don’t know why a lot of restaurants around here fall into the same trap and forget what made people like them in the first place. They’ve basically changed everything, use lower quality/cheaper ingredients and the food has become tasteless. A shame really cause I really liked this place.

No, I will not come back. A bowl of plain noodle, with a little tasteless topping, with some soup. With tax and tip you pay about $ 9 for this? Go to any food court you get better noodle and pay less. I have been to Gui Lin and I love their noodles. This place just didn’t do it right. Noodle its self really has nothing, it’s all about soup and topping.

You choose your broth(3 options), protein, and noodles, and can order side dishes as well. Was impressed by the thick, round, perfectly textured rice noodles with a whiff of peppercorn flavor, and the tender oxtail I chose. The pickled vegetable and crispy soy beans on the noodles added an interesting flavor and texture. But the plain broth I ordered was, well, awfully plain. Probably better off choosing the spicy or herbal options. Not much décor to speak of, basically a white box, which made it feel more like the kind of place you’d stop in for lunch than a dinner destination.

With the cooler weather approaching, this place has become my new go-to place for a bowl of divine rice noodles. They have a simple and solid formula — every bowl have the same backbone base of a lovely broth and same basic vegetarian ingredients, then vary the options by having different protein toppings. However, the base items are absolutely divine! The bowl of broth served on the side is a milky broth, similar to the Korean sulungtang(although I’m not sure if this one is made with ox bone or pork bone). The basic vegetarian ingredients include pickled string beans, baked(fried?) soybeans, fresh cilantro, sliced scallions, and shredded wood ear mushrooms — all that sits on a bed of thick rice noodles and a bit of sauce. Protein toppings range from smoked fish to five-spice beef, fried pork, ham, chicken, or simply more vegetables. When the food is served, they encourage you to «play» with the different tastes of the bowl, and would recommend you mixing the noodles with the toppings and trying it «dry» while sampling the bowl of broth. Then, halfway through, they would encourage you to pour the rest of the broth into the noodle bowl and converting it to a bowl of noodle soup. The process is my favorite part — the salty crunch of the soybeans, sourness of the pickled beans, neutrality of the wood ear mushrooms, and aromatics of the cilantro & scallions all come together in a magical and delicious amalgamation of flavors and textures. The rice noodles become a great al-dente backdrop to carry this gastronomical party of flavors, while the sauce keeps the bowl from getting too dry. When the lovely broth is added to the mix, all the flavors blend into the broth and gives it a deeper dimension to the already impressive mix of flavors. Depending on the protein of choice, your bowl will taste a bit different each time, which adds to the excitement of the palate. If you don’t know where to begin, I would recommend the«Authentic Guilin Mei Fun.» The protein toppings are five-spice beef and fried pork, which are all-around pleasers. Yum. I’m drooling just writing this. I guess it’s time to patronize the restaurant again!

I read about this place in NYMag and hightailed it over here as soon as I found myself in Flushing. It’s off a side street and a little bit of a hole in the wall — I probably would not have stopped in here were it not for Unilocal and Grub Street. But I am SOGLAD I did! The menu isn’t big, which I like; they focus on a few things that they do very well. I started off with the kalimeris indica(commonly known as Indian aster, thanks Wiki) leaf salad because I had no idea what it was and figured, «why not?» It was a nice tangle of cooked greens with a delicate herbal-y flavor, little pieces of chewy tofu, and a light dressing — a nice starter to a heavier meal. I ordered the«good friends» bowl of noodles, which had a delightful sour and spicy flavor profile and tons of ingredients I love: bamboo shoots, pickled green beans, crunchy soy nuts, thin mushrooms, cilantro, and of course, the meat, noodles, and broth. The broth here is really marrow-y tasting and very savory; it tastes like something magical you should be drinking when you have a cold. The noodles are nice and chewy, and everything really comes together perfectly once you pour in the contents of your broth bowl into your noodle bowl. Super yum! And if you need extra spice, the chili oil on the table is plenty hot. It’s a slurpy, splashy meal with chili oil, so don’t come in wearing anything too fancy. This is a cheap, delicious meal that I imagine would be especially welcome on a cold, wintry NYC evening.

The noodles here are simply divine! They recommend that you start by enjoying the delicious noodles first without the broth. The combination of the crunchy nuts and the preserved vegetables is sensational. The noodles are just the perfect combination of chewy and smooth. When you finish half of the noodles, you then add the mild aromatic broth, which transforms the noodles to another level of tastiness! Definitely an outstanding hidden gem. But whatever you do, do not eat the chilli from the table. Your taste buds will burn off instantly and you will not be able to taste the rest of your meal

This place is a nice small place near Main Street. It can be hard to find since there are so many different stores on the block. It is right across the street from TB park which made me skeptical of the place since that park is really dirty. I’ve seen rats the size of Raichu run around that park. ANYWAYS, you just gotta stare up and look at signs when you are walking to make sure you don’t miss the place. the place was empty when I went and service was quick as expected since there was the perfect amount of people in the whole restaurant to play a game of monopoly. I got the Guilen Mi Fen and chicken on the side. The noodles were tasty and didn’t feel oily and unhealthy. It was seasoned with greatness and I finished the meal not feeling bloated. The chicken was also delicious, but there were a lot of bones and not enough meat. Must have been a skinny chicken. Overall the place was a good experience and I only give it 4 stars because of the chicken and I think I need to experience it one more time during prime hour to get the full experience. Thanks for reading!

This is fast-becoming my go-to spot in Flushing as soon as I get off the Chinatown shuttle. The noodles here are divine and flavors are there to match. The only complaint I have is that there’s really not that much meat in every noodle bowl… and this is especially evident in the sour and spicy special they have, which essentially consists of only veggies and peanuts. BUT. If you’re a vegetarian, you’d love this place and if you love noodles, then you’ll definitely love this place. Owners are super nice and very attentive. The space is clean and can easily sit 20 – 30 people. Definitely give this place a try if you’re in the area.

I still love their noodles. It’s my go-to place for takeout for yummy and not greasy food. BUT they’ve updated their menu so now you can’t order a bowl of noodles with chicken. So now I’m stuck with ordering their vegetarian noodle with a side of the ¼ shanghai chicken. Not that happy with that but it’s fine.

Never heard of this specific type of noodle dish before, but my friend dragged me in here praising it. I was pleasantly surprised, and have since came here every other week since it opened! The food is great, the server’s are really friendly and attentive, and the prices are unbelievable. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for the best noodles in Flushing.

The place is quiet and clean, it’s just a little empty. There is music and tv for entertainment, but only in Chinese. I order the original rice noodles which is pretty good, taste like the ones I used to have back in China. The noodles were cut in short sections, I guess that way is easier to eat. The staffs are nice and they asked me how I like the noodles. Generally a good experience.

I had the original noodle bowl. It was very tasty. The noodles are thick white and super soft. The fried dumplings were ok. The price is also right.

Very expensive for very little amount of meat. I ordered the authentic Guilin Mi Fen noodles and it was good but they had very little meat. The noodles were very good though. Definitely something just to try. We ordered a ¼ for $ 5.95 and it only had 4 pieces. You can get so much more at another place but supposedly it’s «Shanghai» special chicken.

The rice noodle is the star here. Tastes great without the soup and you can pour in the soup half way. The noodle is very smooth and soft. Service is tentative and the place is clean. However, the price is a bit expensive as a simple noodle dish cost 7.25 plus tax and there is only 4 pieces of meat in it. The chicken is 5.95 for a quarter and the portion is very very small. I will still come back as the place is the only place that sells Mi Fen in flushing. The food is good but the price is Manhattan price.

There is absolutly no question on their food and customer service 10 out of 10. Customer service: 1) they tell you which is the most popular noddle and how their menu work. 2) they will give you the check only if you ask for it.(most of chinese restaurant will just give you the check with in 5 min after you finish your meal) Fodd: 1) menu very simple. Main ingredient is rice noddle and then you choice ur meat, can add topping. 2)there are three ways to eat your noodles. a) just mix everything up and eat it without soup. b) Add the soup in and eat it with soup C) mix the noodle without the soup — eat half of it — add the soup into your bowl — finish the rest. ** this is the correct way to eat Quiling rice noodle. You can choose your ownway to eat your rice noodle. The only bad thing that I find is, it a little bit expensive. They are charging almost like Manhatann price, if i were the owner I will drop $ 1 dollar for each main course. For example, $ 7.25 — $ 6.25

Gui Lin Mi Fen is one of the new specialty restaurants to join the fray in Flushing. The menu here is simple and focuses on one thing: mi fen(rice noodles). The only thinking you have to do is deciding on what meat you want to pair with your noodles. Being that it’s my first time here, I went with the number 1 Authentic Guilin Mi Fen 正宗桂林米粉($ 7.25) — Each noodle is accompanied by a pork bone soup. The soup is actually one of the best parts of the meal and tastes very natural and clean. The noodle itself is dressed with a light sauce with a hint of sichuan peppercorn. The rice noodles is top quality as they are very smooth and slippery. If you want to convert it into a noodle soup, just pour in the broth.(9⁄10) The restaurant and its staff shows that it puts a lot of attention in the quality and experience of the meal. Not only the do they bring in the best ingredients, the waiters teach you how to enjoy the noodles(eat without soup first and then with soup). For more info and pics, visit:

Wow, if you like rice noodle, you got to try this place. The menu is very small(particularly in Chinese standard) with only 9 noodle selections(no meat, chicken, smoke fish, ox-tail…) Price is also higher than other noodle places, ranging from $ 7 to $ 10 for a bowl of noodle with meat. For noodle, you can get either mi fen(rice noodle in spaghetti shape) or chi fen(or ho fun or flat rice noodle). Chi fen is served in a bowl of soup. The flat noodle is soft and smooth. Soup is tasty — 4 stars Mi fen is served in a bowl with a bit of sauce at the bottom. A bowl of soup is served on the side. The waiter told us to eat the noodle without the soup first and then pour in the soup when we are half way. The noodle is soft and chewy in a VERYGOOD way! Love it! Definitely 5 stars. I ordered mine Mi Fen with smoked fish($ 9.5) A ordered Authentic Gui Lin Chi Fen($ 7.25) T ordered Ox Tail Mi Fen($ 8.75) Kao Fu($ 5) — 3 stars Will definitely come again for more mi fen…
