Good place good food. Generous portions of everything. We were so full. Service could have been better. Tips is being added to the bill so don’t tip twice my fellow Unilocalers. Overall will most likely return to the restaurant in the near future. I can’t believe they are closing down the restaurant to turn into a steak and sushi place. Why!!! Terrible idea! Now I have to look for another Cantonese restaurant. :(

Lok Lok was great when it was a Cantonese place. Now Lok Lok is closed down for renovations to convert it into a steak and sushi place. OMG, really? They think a steak and sushi place will be more successful in the location they are at? I gave Lok Lok 5-stars when it was open as a Cantonese place. The owner decided to convert Lok Lok to a steak and sushi place. I FINDTHATIDEATOBE A 1-STAR DECISION. They could not fill up the restaurant as a Cantonese place?! That is an issue because the few Cantonese places in Flushing is always full. It’s the prices maybe, too high. Also location is further from the subway station. Volume will always be an issue if you are far from the subway station. The lunch special at Lok Lok was great. Lunch special was you get to pick three dishes from their special limited lunch menu and you get 2 bowls of rice and soup for $ 21.95 and additional entrees were $ 7.95. For dinner they should have extended this deal into the night and change the price to $ 26.95 and each additional dish to be $ 9 but also extend the bowls of rice to 3 bowls during dinner. Rice is not costly. They will fill the restaurant up if they did that. There was a place near the train station that had the same deal, 3 dishes with bowls of rice and soup for the $ 25 mark all day long. People come to expect Cantonese food at certain price points. just sayin’. If it goes too high above it, it will exceed past the point of acceptance. At least it does with a certain generation and up. I visited Lok Lok and I felt some of the items were kinda expensive, one example off the top of my head was it was $ 3 for one scallion pancake… really?! That price point is crazy for scallion pancake. Scallion pancake is pennies to make. It’s just water, flour, salt, oil and scallions. It’s like selling a plain bagel for $ 3…NOTHANKS.

This place was a solid 4 stars for me. Sadly, when trying to call in for take out and subsequently having to go to the restaurant to order because no one picked up the phone, I discovered that this place is closed for renovation since 2÷16÷16 until further notice. They will later open as a steak and sushi restaurant. Not exactly sure why they are closing a perfectly loved authentic Cantonese restaurant to open a sushi and steak joint(surf and turf?!) but people have high expectations for steak and sushi so good luck to them. Rip Lok Lok, it was good while it lasted. Now I don’t even know where to grab good and fast Chinese food with moderate parking.

Lok Lok is a Chinese restaurant located close to downtown Flushing specializing in Cantonese cuisine. I’m going to be real honest; I was not a fan of Lok Lok in the beginning. My first couple of times here were when they first opened, I always thought their food were a bit too salty(even for my Asian palette) or perhaps too MSG-ish, their food portion were relatively small for their price tag and their food were always a hit or miss. My family and I skipped out on Lok Lok for a couple of years until recently; my parents suddenly became obsessed with it again. I was very skeptical about coming back to Lok Lok again but hey when your parents invite you for lunch, you must say yes(yay to free lunch haha jk) Lok Lok is located on Main Street between Cherry Ave and Blossom Ave. It’s a good 10 minute walk from downtown Flushing. From there you really can’t miss it, there’s a giant white sign with big red lettering in front of the restaurant. Parking: Lot of apartment complex around the area which means good luck finding a spot. I usually get pretty lucky getting metered parking on Main street but if you can’t a spot, go around on Cherry Ave or further down Main street(by the Botanical garden) Ambiance and Décor: Big open dining room with high ceiling. Room is filled with large wooden round tables in the center and wooden square tables by the windows. Good amount of room between the tables so you won’t be forced to listen to someone else’s conversation. No fancy decorations, pretty typical Chinese restaurant with comfortable seating. Estimate seating in the restaurant– 70 – 80 We came here on a Saturday afternoon around 1pm and the place was pretty packed, we got lucky and were seated after a 5 minute wait. I wouldn’t say Lok Lok is a Dim Sum restaurant because the only real Dim Sum they offered were dumplings and steamed rice rolls. They are more like a noodle/congee type of place in the afternoon and more family style Chinese restaurant at night. Since it was lunch time, we decided against family style dinner and went with some noodle/congee and rice rolls. From what we ordered, here are some of my favorites: Steamed Rice Rolls(Any kind) — The rice rolls here were definitely some of my favorite across all dim sum restaurants. It actually comes out hot, which is a must for any kind of rice roll! It got a soft, light, fluffy slightly chewy and almost melts in your mouth texture. The soy sauce is slightly sweet and perfectly complements the lightly flavored rice rolls. My favorite is the Shrimp rice roll, I love how fresh the shrimp is inside the rice roll, it’s big, plump, juicy and firm to the bite and give the best mouth feel alongside the soft, light and fluffy rice roll! MUSTTRY! Fried Rice(Any kind) — I can’t believe I’m saying this but after trying two different type of fried rice here, I have to say they are the real deal! Oh man, where do I start? How about the portion? How about a portion that includes at least 12 servings and I ain’t even lying, our family of 5 ordered 1 fried rice dish and 1 fried noodle dish to share and we barely made a dent on it, our to-go box was almost full and we are not even light eaters! Big props to the chef for knowing how to make some legit fried rice– The rice was firm(Mushy fried rice is a serious pet-peeves of mine!), and you can clearly see each bit of rice in your bowl. You can also taste that it is made from a hot wok, it’s got a smoky, sizzling flavor that you can’t accomplish at home and the flavoring was just right! OHSO Delicious!!! I don’t think I have tasted fried rice like this for a long time. THISIS A MUSTGET! Note: The fried rice with chicken and salted fish is my go-to but it’s definitely NOT for the faint of heart(so much salted fish, so good!). For beginners, try the Young Chow fried rice. Service: Better than most Chinese restaurants, the waiters and waitresses are surprisingly polite and water/tea is refilled on regular bases. Price: Inexpensive– On weekdays, they got lunch specials which will save you a couple of bucks but most dishes ranged from $ 10-$ 15 and totally shareable! Overall: Lok Lok is back in my books again! We had a rough start but they made me a believer again, that fried rice truly won my heart! With awesome food, great service and affordable price, Lok Lok has earned a spot in my go-to restaurant again! Make sure to try at least 1 fried rice dish and 1 steamed rice roll dish and you’ll see why Lok Lok is back!

Per Doctor Elsie W. and Angela L.‘s reviews, I came here with extremely high expectations, and they were met. FULLYMET. Rice noodle rolls are highly recommended, but the Congee was on par with many places in Chinatown, too! Yes, prices are higher than Manhattan’s Chinatown, but this is Queens, where very few places have Congee, noodles, and rice rolls in Cantonese style the way that Big Wong King does it in Manhattan. I recommend the House Special Roll. It blew me away. Tip: if you don’t want your roll sitting in soy sauce, just ask that it be placed on the side for you. Note that a 15% tip will be added to your bill. Don’t need to tip extra! There is a parking lot, but it’s valet only and it’s $ 2. I strongly recommend that you park by the 4 hour meters on Main Street near Elder Avenue, instead. The meal likely won’t take more than an hour. Lok Lok is just a short walk from Elder. The owner told me that beginning February 15, 2016, he will need to transform the restaurant into a steak and sushi place, to my great dismay. Apparently, there are 20 people in the kitchen working on things and the owner simply cannot get enough volume to maintain the restaurant. Come here while you still can!

I come here when I have a craving for congee the way I remember eating it in Hong Kong growing up. I highly recommend the lettuce and sliced fish congee — has a light and airy tasty to it. I’d also recommend the classic preserved egg and pork congee as well as the frog congee. It’s only available during the daytime though. I’ve come here intermittently over the past 2 years and service/quality of food has remained consistent. The place is clean, well light, lots of natural light, and thankfully doesn’t have carpeting(usually my pet peeve in Chinese restaurants because carpets don’t get cleaned very often). Service is adequate. I did notice in my most recent visit a week ago that a 15% gratuity charge is now included in the bill. Location is a little further away from the hustle and bustle of the main shopping/eating areas, but it’s worth the brisk 15 minute walk from Main St subway stop. And, after eating, you can stroll through the Queens Botanical Garden.

GETTHEIRRICEROLLS!!! Aka cheung fun. They have a HUGE variety of rice rolls — I got the crueller with shrimp, never had shrimp inside my cruellers before! Go here just for the rice rolls! Other than that, their wonton noodles were really good, on par with Hong Kong standards. It’s so hard to find good HK-style food in Flushing, but this is probably my favorite now. I also got an order of just wontons, which were good but next time I’ll try their dumplings! Go here for good Cantonese food in Flushing!

Good Cantonese restaurants are hard to come by. We stopped by Lok Lok to try it based on a recommendation and it didn’t disappoint. Pretty modern feel and comfortable spot. Food is a slight bit pricier than what I’m used to but the quality is excellent. If you don’t mind waiting, sometimes the food does take a while to come out for dishes you think would be fast. But I’ll chalk that up to it being freshly made on the spot. The place gets crowded quickly — speaks to how popular it is. The beef rice noodle, fried dough rice noodle and wonton noodle soup were so original and authentic. It reminded me of the good food I had when I was younger — how awesome and delicious it was! Their singapore noodle was good too but brace yourself, it’s a HUGEDISH. I like the food here and would definitely come back. Parking is a bit of a pain but you’ll manage. If you don’t mind a tight squeeze, they do have tiny parking spaces in front of the restaurant.

Overpriced. Good authentic Hong Kong style cuisine– but overpriced. Service isn’t the greatest either. Been there a couple times and they’ve been very inconsistent. You can’t tell who works there either sometimes. Their menu is also confusing. They have food at different times and one time I wanted congee and I was in their time frame– waited an hour to get a table just to find out they didn’t have it. They could have told us earlier. Anyway, the food is all right but I wouldn’t go here if you just want a quick meal to eat when you want to dine in. They get really busy and prioritize people that have large groups and look like they’re going to spend more money. I personally don’t like that.

Mediocre food at best. The beef rice roll taste like imitation meat for vegetarians. Mapo tofu is terrible– tasteless. Singapore fried rice noodle curry flavor leaves much to be desired. Please note fellow diners– there’s a mandatory 15% gratuity which I agree with other reviewers is a great injustice compared to the actual services rendered. What really blows my mind is your gratuity is calculated based on your bill ANDTAX included so unsuspecting diners are paying more. Perhaps it’s not the extra $$$ that is unsound but rather a my understanding that private businesses should not be legally allowed to make money off of government taxes.

We were actually looking for a dim sum place but many of them were packed so we stopped by here. The dim sum is very limited to a couple items and only is by order. What we did get were pretty delicious– scallion pancakes, beef rice rolls and fried cruller. All were fresh and tasty. I rated the items 4⁄5. Next we went with their lunch special of three dishes for $ 21.95. Additional dish is just $ 7.95. We had– Peking Pork chop; 4⁄5 Salt & Pepper fish; 5⁄5 Eggplant with garlic sauce; 4⁄5 It comes with two bowl of rice and soup of the day. The place is very clean and the service is Ok; slow in response and their English is not good so communications was a challenge. Overall the place is great. I will be back. Tip: they have valet parking for $ 2 or check the street around the park first.

It is VERY disappointed with a simple fried noodle dish. The dish is NOT suppose be soggy with lots sauce at bottom. The quick fire suppose makes the noodle al-dent. After we rejected the dish and sent back to kitchen, they bring out the same dish but drain out sauce and re-heated. How much is bunch noodle cost in material that is not cover in $ 12.95 that charge by restaurant? The chef does not present the true art of cooking skill. This is complete lack of professionalism from chef to give the customer. Here is a link from YouTube that how one would expect on the table. v=Jyf_E0mIMWE&autoplay=1 Only good experience, the waiter is most professional compare with other Chinese restaurants. Perhaps, we should just stick with soup only… Will I come back to this restaurant and try out their other authentic Cantonese cuisine…: not until other Unilocalers report the chef finds passion to put up decent quality. There are others put up much better quality at same expensive price. So fellow Unilocaler, you are reminded of potential unsatisfactory dish.

Their lunch deals are pretty good and the food has never disappointed. Service can be slow and irritating if you’re paired with the wrong waiter, but be a little nice to them and they’ll come around.

Lok Lok has one of the best Cantonese style Chinese food I’ve tried in Flushing so far. Food is definitely better than average. Also very new and clean inside, which is not always true for chinese restaurants in flushing haha. ___________________ Tips: –It’s best if you come here in large groups, that way you can order more things and get a little taste of everything Lok Lok has to offer. This is not really a «order your own thing» and eat it. Chinese style food is meant to be shared. –Like any other place in Flushing parking is hard to find. Sometimes I find spaces to park for free in the residential areas behind Lok Lok. You have to walk a little bit though. Or you can do valet parking right in front of the restaurant. –It’s not the cheapest place to eat in Flushing, but then again, this is not janky chinese american take-out. Get over it. –It does help if you know Cantonese, but it’s not impossible to order. Things are pretty clear on the menu. –Service like any other Chinese restaurant is not designed to pamper you, so you do have to be a little proactive about ordering and asking for more stuff. Nobody’s gonna come to your table and ask if «you want some more water hon.» They’re not trying to be rude, this is just how chinese restaurants are. Yes, the waiters faces look like they’re a little pissed off, but inside are hearts of gold. ___________________ If you’re new to Cantonese food, TRYTHESE: Sand Walnut W/Prawn(19.95) — It’s basically fried shrimp, candied walnuts in a rich sweet mayo sauce. Salt and Pepper Squid($ 13.95) Salt and Pepper Pork Chop($ 11.95) — Both delicious Pork Chop W/Peking Sauce($ 11.95) — Better than Sweet and sour Pork. Steamed Chicken with Ginger sauce($ 13.95) — All about that ginger and scallion sauce… You could seriously just eat that with rice. Pan fried noodle with sea food($ 13.95) — Goes great with their chili pepper sauce on the table. Hong Kong Style Dry Chow Fun($ 11.95) — equally as yum. Don’t think you can go wrong with those…

I come to Lok Lok when I want a huge selection of rice rolls. The rest of the other options such as wonton noodles and dim sum dishes are pretty bland in my opinion. The staff is not all that attentive either as it takes me a while to get their attention for the check(no matter how empty the restaurant is) and they don’t serve coffee which really surprises me. There are a few available spots directly outside of their restaurant as well.

You know this place is good and authentic when there is a line at peak meal times. Yes, you might have to wait. But it is well worth it. All the guests are Asian, so you know it is authentic Chinese food. The quality is good too. All in my party gave this place a seal of approval because it is just that good. They have specials and if you can take advantage of the specials, it makes the meals more reasonably priced. The parking is rather limited. But hey you are close to downtown flushing. What do you expect. As noted, the 15% tip is added to your bill. There are signs in your table. So careful not to double tip. Would definitely come back.

This restaurant is clean and I love the windows throughout the place, makes it look very bright and spacious. The food is so good! My parents will always order since I cant speak any Cantonese. I’ve never tried their dimsum but their dinner dishes are amazing. Definitely come here if you’re in the neighborhood! Parking might be rough though

I am fairly certain my parents are regulars here because every time I come home to visit, we almost ALWAYS stop by here. My parents are immigrants from Guangzhou, China(southern China) and they really enjoy the food here. I have tried so many dishes here that were both tasty and affordable. They do a great weekday special(holidays excluded) that is 3 entrees, a soup and a side of white rice for $ 20. It is absolutely ridiculous how cheap that is! I really enjoy this place’s wonton noodle soup, congee, fish cray pots, veggie dishes, etc. I have zero complaints about what this place have to offer and whenever possible, I try to take my family out to this place for a casual family celebration. I won’t be in NYC for another few weeks but definitely will be looking forward to stopping by Lok Lok during my next visit.

Food and service was great. The food came out quick and fast, and they always came around to make sure that all finished dishes were cleared off of the table as soon as possible. The waiters and waitresses always made sure that we always had enough clean planted, napkins, tea, etc. The food was always really hot and you would have to let it cool a little before you can eat it. The restaurant is not huge, but a decent size and will accommodate for a group of 10 – 12 people. I really liked the fact that the kitchen is fully visible to the customers, its a huge glass window that allows the customer to see what’s going on back there. There’s definitely not shady business going back there unlike other restaurants. As a result of the big window to the kitchen, you can rest assure that the food is clean. The kitchen is well organized and clean. This place was nice, and I would definitely be coming back. Highly recommend their lamb chops, walnut shrimp, and black pepper scallops.

Since my last review I’ve been here many more times. At first mostly because of convenience but now I really enjoy the food here. They have many dishes and the quality has def. improved. Favorites include sweet and sour fish, beef with scallions and ginger, sweet pea tips. They currently have a 3 dish special for $ 19.95. Three dishes, 2 soups and 2 rice.
