I’ve known that this store has existed for years, but never went in until I needed garam masala. I left with way more than garam masala. They have a good selection of imported Indian snacks, giant bags of long grain rice, a great selection of frozen foods and a huge selection of spices and mixes for specific Indian dishes. There’s also a nice selection of vegetables. I know a lot of other reviews are saying this location isn’t as large as the one in Jackson Heights, but I was still happy with their selection. If you’re vegetarian you’ll love that since many things are imported, they have the Indian vegetarian label on the package(a solid white square with a green dot in the middle of it). However, you’ll need to read the ingredients to check if the products are vegan. I don’t think I saw any vegan markings, which was kind of annoying, but I was still able to find a lot of vegan snacks. I probably bought too many.

Not too many options unlike Jackson hts but similar food ! Very nice people working even the Spanish guys are polite there. Indians have hired a lot there & other locations. 1 star down becoz not much of options on food items & spaced very tightly ! But over all I love to come here rather than jack hts as it’s closer to my home. I love it

Frozen Chickoo! Its Here! Smoothie timeeeee! This place has everything you need in terms of food. I was looking for an Appam pan but no luck. English is not a strong suit here so if you are looking for something, make sure you know how to say it in hindi! Gosh, I love this place!

The best place to find South Asian spices and delicacies in Flushing, Queens. Don’t forget to check out the frozen food section — they have an amazing variety of quick-serve Indian delights!

Best Indian grocery chain in NYC. A lot of assorted Indian spices and hard to find items. Me for one like to check out their frozen food offerings. It never hurt to stock up a few. Clean and considerably spacious. Cashiers are friendly and helpful.

One of my favorite things about living in NYC is Patel Brothers! Amazing deals and hard to find ingredients. A great resource for the home cook. Interesting and fresh produce, awesome dry good and spices and so cheap. Run here… and stock up. Most of my pantry comes from here!

An OK little gem… elusively large actually. They have some harder-to-find items such as Thai eggplant and green papaya. They also have a good variety of frozen but ‘ready-to-pan-fry’ fish from India(mackerel, sardine. etc.). Will return again.

Great Indian supermarket. Wide selection of authentic Indian groceries. I like the Indian-style potato chips and the Pista Kulfi Ice Cream is the best! Has been around for over a decade!

Totally didn’t expect this fabled Indian speciality store that is clustered around all these Chinese/Korean stores. Walking from the number 7 train to the LIE was like a walk from New Delhi to Mumbai and back. Store after store were chinese supermarkets competing with one another but then i stumped onnn my favourite indian joint. But don’t me wrong, it didn’t deter me from going inside because not only did the spices was oh so fragrant but they also had my favourite green papayas and frozen palek pannerr tv dinners. They also have manchurian chicken frozen tv dinners for those who are into indo-chinese cuisine. (Im a sucker from those green papayas) Highly affordable spices that comes in a bag that looks like what a drug cartel would use to transport their goods but you get what i’m saying… NOW Get yo’ Ass Over to Patel brothers and start savin’ some breadd.

This place was fantastic! There is an incredible amount of variety within a relatively small store and the prices are unbeatable. I found several already-cheap items offering even larger discounts in bulk(frozen Gobi Parantha — bread stuffed with spiced-cauliflower, two for 1; and various pickled condiments — mixed veggie pickle, tomato pickle, and garlic pickle — $ 2 each and also buy 2, get one free!). I was really intrigued by the variety of Indian produce that I’m not accustomed to, like the tiny, mandarin-size eggplants, and the different varieties of cucumbers and squash) and will be back to buy some in the future. I also picked up some vegetarian burgers and veggie nuggets, which were pea/potato/chickpea-based, instead of soy-based, which was a pleasant change(they were also very tasty!)

There Samosas are so far the best(fried dumpling with potato, veggies and spices) they are always fresh and soft, which means more flavor. They also have this microwave snacks that resembles HotPocket. They come in variety of flavors. They also have this bread called Malaysian paratha(the Kawan brand is nicer) man does it taste good with coffee or tea. They have finger snacks from mild to spicy. They also have many variety of Mitai(sweets). Like they say a picture is worth a thousand words; you must go and picture it yourself. Its a small store but they have a huge variety of snacks and spices. And there service is also nice. But good luck findingarking outside.

I dig their breads, you can get with potatoes and whatnot inside. They have spices, and ingredients and even some religious statues. My friend grabbed some bread after eating at a restaurant near by and now every time I go to that restaurant I have to stop in here, and pick up some round breads, which I forget the names, sorry.

While this Patel Brothers is not as big as the one in Jackson Heights, they do have ample groceries and frozen food. I usually drop by here after eating at Buddha Bodai(the bus stop is in front of this store). Great place to get Indian TV dinners(frozen dinners, really). They also have a small counter selling Indian sweets.

As I was on the bus going to my destination I spotted the Patel Brother’s grocery store and thought hum maybe I’ll walk back there and I’m so glad I did. The have such an extensive selection of Indian food stuff I was completely overwhelmed. the main reason I went there was to get some henna, but i walked around the store and looked at their frozen food section who knew Pillsbury made naan. I did not purchase any food on this trip only nupur henna, a shirikai hair shampoo bar, and some Alma powder. I love Indian food so next time I will have a list.

While I don’t like to go out to eat Indian food, I don’t mind making it. It’s because there’s more to Indian food than Chicken Tikka Masala, Palak Paneer and Tandoori with Naan. Did you know that with the variety of pulses they have on hand at this store, you can have a different«daal» for two weeks? Or that there’s a pickle made out of a leaf that comes from the hemp family? Or that okra can be stuffed with paneer and then pan fried with black mustard seeds and garam masala? Well I do, and when I need stock up on my various and sundry spices and vegetables and pulses and other specialty food products — I know where to go. I may not be Indian, but it’s in my genes and it’s always nice to refer to your ancestry once in a while. As good as it gets.

I have to say that, without a doubt, Patel Bros. is THE single groccery store that represents all of Jackson Heights. For starters, the selection is nothing short of extensive. It includes everything from pre-packaged masalas to dals to chutneys to premade food to rice and everything inbetween. This is actually even where I buy my sandalwood soap! Second, only one word is needed. Reputation. It is very hard to find one person who has not heard of or even shopped at Patel Bros before. But of course, reputation is bound to occur with such a great place. Third, the fact that there are enough people there who are friendly enough to help you find something if you are unsure. That’s something that is hard to find at a lot of grocceries where they say«Aisle 6.» But where in Aisle 6? At Patel Bros, if someone who works there won’t help you, someone shopping there will. It’s really that amazing.
