It’s New Year’s Eve and we decided we would watch the movie, «Big Night». I find out that this branch has a copy. It is not «my» library, but it’s not far. The first hing I notice when I walk in is that there are two women talking very loudly about their holiday plans.
I so miss the days of a quiet library…
I start to look for the video and can’t find it. I keep looking because I saw that the database indicated that they had it. I still can’t find it, so I wait at the librarian’s desk. After a few minutes I realize maybe they did not have one in. Then I go to the circulation desk and ask about the dvd. She tells me, with a hint of a smile, that I need to check with the librarian. I must have had a funny look, because she said it’s the woman in the pink sweater. I now realize it’s the LOUD talker.
I go over to her and say, «excuse me…».After all, she is clearly having a personal conversation with a friend/patron. She immediately cuts me off and tells me she will be with me in a minute. Now she starts talking to her friend about a movie. I guess because she was standing near the dvds.
After a few more minutes, she finally helps me. She goes to her desk and without even making eye contact she tells me it is in the drama section. She does not offer to help me find it. am not sure why I did not find it myself. I guess I wasn’t looking carefully.
I will not return EVER. I hope she has a good time at the Inn on Northern Blvd tonight. I am sure that everyone in the library knows that she will be there tonight. You know, everyone knows her there :)
Please note, I love the Queens Library system. I am just commenting on this one RUDE librarian.

Since it’s my neighborhood library, I’ve gone back a couple of times.
I don’t know if the supervisor read my review but it’s like she changed to a completely new person. She’s more cordial, and offers to do something out of her way to help the guests.
I still hear her giving an attitude in defending her library on a couple of occasions, but not as much as before.
