The people working here are very unfriendly and downright creepy. The staff are a bunch of angry middle-aged ladies who seem to hate everyone. Don’t ask for help. You’ll either be ignored, made fun of or yelled at. Some customers just deal with the abuse and laugh at the crazy cashiers, others get angry and start talking back. Too much drama when all you want to do is buy some groceries. Only shop here if you need kosher groceries after 9pm. Wasserman prices are usually 30% more than nearby kosher supermarkets. Aarons is really the best for kosher food shopping in Kew Gardens Hills.

This store is a cramped, narrow-aisled grocery on a strip of Orthodox Main Street in the Kew Gardens Hills community(I think the fact that my keyboard hit the J before K is a Freudian slip, lol). Nonetheless, the store has some good kosher items, and I went in today to purchase a container of baby arugula from the Kosher Gardens label, some Haolam cholov yisroel chevre goat cheese, and a small container of tuna from some Chassidic company. The arugula is from a special label where they grow the produce in controlled greenhouse environments to avoid infestation, and wash it and check it for bugs. It was crisp, mostly fresh, and went well with the chevre. The tuna tasted like chopped liver, ironically, as it had eggs and onions in it. I don’t know what exactly made it Hungarian, though(it was labeled Hungarian tuna salad); it didn’t sound like Zsa Zsa Gabor or anything like that. The cashiers are from a variety of Central Asian Boratstan republics, and I’m sure they’re gossiping about the customers behind our backs.

I enjoy shopping at Wasserman. It’s a relatively small supermarket, but well stocked with a variety of kosher products, some of which are hard to get elsewhere. Their prices are moderate and equivalent to similar establishments. While some of the staff can occasionally be abrasive, on the whole, I find them helpful and accomodating. The meat Dept. is especially good; they’re the only ones who have true«extra clean» chicken. You can’t beat their hours. It’s the only one of the supermarkets that’s open into the wee hours of the morning.

Avoi, prices are sky high! Aaron’s or brachs are your best bet! Plus the cashiers have more respect for their customers in all other supermarkets. Wassermans has gotta get new cashiers their repp is bad because they don’t respect their customers and make faces and mock customers in foreign languages all the time. It’s pretty stupid of them, but they obviously have no lives.
