Great little bookstore with both used and new books. I was able to find every book I was looking for and there were even some good books in the clearance rack for a few dollars! I was unable to find one book in the store and it was ordered for me quickly and arrived early so no problem! I love being around books and was so happy to find this local store to support instead of Amazon. The man who works there,(or possibly owns it?) is very helpful and nice. I definitely recommend! It’s always great to support local small business.

What a wonderful find! I’ve lived in Folsom for 6 years and didn’t hear of this place until recently. A real brick and motor bookstore! Loads of books in a quaint, comfortable atmosphere. Would recommend stopping by.

It’s nice but they need to get real on the price. I picked a few books and they where mostly kids book and they wanted more then it would cost me for a brand new book, that was paperback said $ 3 they wanted $ 5 it was a small stage one kids book. so I went in to the thrift store and they said the women that owns the book store goes in there all the time and some times buys boxes of books there. So between 25 cents a book or $ 5. I will go else where for my books.

Great place to find the book you want to read. If they don’t have it, they can get it. It’s also a great place to drop off books you have read and no longer want to store in your garage.

A New Year brings new resolutions and for me, one of them is the completion of this bucket list of books: Probably a feat I won’t finish in a year, but I aim to complete it during this lifetime. To accomplish this, first, I must find the books – Which brings me to Colton Books, a tiny and humbling used-book store in Folsom. Given it’s small space, I was surprised by the variety and books they had in stock. While I was able to find almost a quarter of the books on that list above, my problem lies in the high prices. By rule, I feel a used book store should sell their books at least 40% off the original price. Colton Books doesn’t do this. What’s most upsetting is that they cover the Original publishers price with stickers of their own, which I feel is a little deceptive. —- Conclusion: If in immediate need of getting a book, Colton has a wide selection, but charges almost the same as what Barnes & Noble would for a new book. To find better deals, I’d suggest buying books online via Amazon. Extra Notes: –Accepts credit card –Closed on Sundays –Buys books too –Ample Parking –Friendly and helpful employees –No public restrooms

This bookstore is small but they have an impressive selection. All the prices on used books are half off the listed price. I have bought several books here in my 2 visits and I will definitely be going back again. Also, they accept used books as trade-in for store credit.

So many books! Much larger than it appears. This was my first time in the store so I can only judge it based on what the new owners have done since taking over a few months ago. When I first pulled up and even when I entered the front door, I expected what I was seeing to be the entirety of the selection. Was I ever wrong! Not only are there shelves and shelves of well organized books but the shelves extend around the corner into a space nearly as large as well as into at least two other rooms off of the hallway. I just happened to be working in Folsom yesterday so I didn’t have a lot of time to stay but understand that unless otherwise marked, books are typically half price. Customers are also able to bring in books for credit that reduces their costs of future purchase by half again. I will need to plan a trip but understand that a book normally costing $ 8 would cost $ 4 and that if I had credit from other books I had brought in then it would only cost me $ 2. This is a great deal either way but especially for people who go through a lot of books.

They are ok. They are new owners of this store. A step up before the last owner who acted as if she was doing you a favor for shopping there, but I am destined not to come back to this store. I bought a book for one price and when I tried to pay for it, the owner said it was more expensive then what the sticker price showed. That is not a good way to do business with someone.

I thought Colton Books had closed, but in fact they have relocated to a better space on the opposite side of Bidwell Street, next to Big 5 Sporting Goods. The new shop seems more pleasant and better set up. When I went in, they were able to locate the book I requested right away and I left happy with what I wanted in hand and at a good price.

Very helpful! Professional. Knowledgeable. Friendly. Thorough. I was looking for a specific book that neither Book Barn nor Dimple had in stock, nor had their staff even heard of. However, at Colton, Kathie knew exactly which book I was looking for and that she had it in storage. She took my info and both called and sent me an email upon finding the book, and offered it to me at an incredibly reasonable price. I strolled out with a spring in my step and a deeper appreciation for my community business owners. Great bookstore: have and will continue to recommend to friends.

Great used book store. I had no issue picking up a dozen books for my son. I found the owner to be friendly, helpful and the store was very organized and most definitely there! Not sure what the previous reviewers experienced but I’ll definitely be back!

Looks like Colton Books is still open(message from Katie E.): It moved across the street next to BIG5 Sporting Goods. It now has more space and a reading room. I like the new layout, and there are more books than in the old store. The reading chairs give the whole store a more relaxed and inviting atmosphere. Check out the new location — 604 E. Bidwell in Folsom. I’ll have to check out the new location and report back!

Not the best place to buy a book… Small, cramped, and not well organized. It’s mostly a used book dealer. The prices are really good, though.
