I’m feeling very disappointed here. The strings on Madison and College Oak in Sacramento is far superior to this place. Service is horrible. I know that they just got over being super busy but that’s the point. They were over that rush. There is less than 12 people eating with 4 people to serve and it’s horrible. I had to get up to get my own refill. And God forbid if I would like some water.

I’ve been wanting to check this place out for a while now, since seeing the all you can eat pasta night is on Wednesdays($ 8.99 a person) so husband and I went yesterday for dinner. There was only 1 other party dining at the time, but more people slowly trickled in as we ate. Majority of them seemed to be to go orders. The servers were friendly, and kept our water glasses full, which can be quite a task considering my husband needed about 5 refills. The young guy server was very kind and gave us an extra basket of delicious bread too– that was very much appreciated! We both had minestrone soup and enjoyed it immensely. It had a lot of flavor. I’d go back if they did an unlimited soup/salad/bread type of meal. Husband ordered the meat sauce with angel hair pasta and was very disappointed by both the lack of flavor in the sauce and the lack of ground beef. He used a ton of Parmesan cheese to give his food more flavor and even considered adding some salt. I ordered half marinara and half Alfredo with angel hair pasta, and I have to admit, I felt the sauces were just about as lackluster as my husband did. The Alfredo was rich, but didn’t have any distinguishable flavor(garlic/cheese/etc). The marinara was sad to say, more disappointing than opening up a can of 99cent hunts pasta sauce. We used up the entire full jar or Parmesan cheese at our table just for our meals, to help give the food some flavor. Didn’t bothering ordering more even though it was all you can eat, because of how«meh» the food was. If we had paid more than $ 8.99 a person, I’d have been more upset, but for this price tag we just made a mental note not to return for pasta. Their pizzas seemed to be a hot commodity, and I already know their soup and bread is amazing! All in all, I think I’d return here, just not for pasta!

I have loved the String’s chain for years. I have always ordered the Lasagna Pastry which is heaven on a dish. It has been pre Unilocal days since I have been but they have opened a location in one of Folsom’s restaurant graveyards(RIP Noble Roman’s Pizza, Tuscano Subs, Extreme Pizza and Fornotino’s). They have been flying a flag for a few months advertising New York Pizza. We stopped in and ordered a medium pie with sausage and green pepper. The toppings were quality but it was undercooked. It was pricy for a medium at 20+. No more pizza but I will be back for my lasagna pastry.

I stopped in here with my 4 year old on my way to pick up some new furniture. I ordered spaghetti and meatballs. When I received my salad, it had rotten lettuce in it. I promptly stopped eating it, pulled it aside on a napkin, to which my teenage server replied, «Oh, sorry.» And then proceeded to stare blankly at me. Pasta arrived unsalted and watery, and after I watched them microwave the frozen meatballs, I decided not to eat it. The kicker? My plate of pasta cost me 14.00! What a rip off. I will never come back here.

I have eaten at a couple Strings locations many, many times since the 80’s. Having recently moved to Folsom I was excited to see a Strings here. Upon entering the restaurant my wife and I were not greeted by anyone and had to walk to the kitchen area to get someones attention. Once we were seated the service was slow and the food was poorly cooked. This chain has always been a staple for us, but sadly we will never return to this location ever again.

Went out to dinner with 9 of us. The restaurant was very clean and well decorated. We were able to all sit together. Table service was kind, thorough and quick. I ordered the Pasta Sienna… it was yummy

Been in several times for take out food and it really has been great. It seems the like the small space has not been so much of a problem lately. Not quite as busy as it was when it first opened but great food dine in or take out. Everyone is friendly and the service is quick.

Well as much as I have always enjoyed eating at strings I was very excited when I found this one. Unfortunately the soup and salad combo was so small I was done in five minutes and still very hungry. So I paid my bill and was leaving and another employee mentioned it’s all you can eat. Wish they had told me

Asleep at the wheel… I have been to this restaurant twice in the last month. The first time we had Pizza and were treated very nicely by a waiter and the manager or owner(not sure). The Pizza tasted really good… so much so that we came back with expectations to have another good meal. We could have not been more wrong. Last night we walked in at 5pm to nobody greeted us at the front door… so I walked to the back and started saying hello to get someone to sit us. I should have taken this a sign to leave, but I was still remembering the good experience last time and let it go. The woman who did come out from the kitchen was very robot like and looked like she had run out of gas for the day. Needless to say, service was very flat. The worst part of the experience was the Lasagna and Spaghetti combo($ 15.50) and while the meal tasted good, the quantities were very small that it did not come close to filling the plate… really??? An Italian restaurant that scrimps on pasta??? For $ 15.50??? Shame on you. You’ve lost us a customers…

I’ve always liked strings and this did not disappoint. No it’s not fine dining, but good quality, tasty and reasonable, especially for the kids. Super nice young man server –fast service, nice little bistro style and quiet spot.

I had a single slice of pizza and it was the best pizza I have had since leaving New York. I was sorry I didn’t get a whole pie. But will tomorrow! Toppings all freshly cut not dried out stuff you get elsewhere. Worth a try.

Better than that Buca place, but more fly’s than a barn dance in Texas!

I really like this place. The location is great(just around the corner from our house) and the food is reasonably priced. It is not the best italian food around, but it is very good. I have only tried their pasta, chicken, and stuffed shells. All of them were very good. The salads and bread are also a big plus!

2.5 stars to be fair. It was ok. I just really felt like their soup and salad for dinner. The soup was pretty good just needed a but more salt. The salad, which used to be my favorite, was not as expected unfortunately. The creamy Italian just tasted really watered down. They made their money on me since I ordered the all you can eat soup & salad for $ 8 and only had one small bowl of each. My daughter had the lasagna in pastry and loved it. Will probably go back and give it another shot; I just hope they get the message about the salad dressing, because I noticed a complaint about the same thing in another review. Bread was hot and tasty though! The owners are a very nice Folsom couple so I do like supporting them.

Me and a few people in my family came here on a weekday evening and it wasn’t busy. The food was really good and the waiter was nice and funny! I was a fan of the bread :) It’s super close to where I live and I’m sure I will go back.

First of all, they are not the most authentic place in the area, but they are still good. I’m giving them 4 stars because they kind of do their own thing which is good without being either completely authentic or completely disgusting like the big chains are. I was thrilled to find out that they had relocated and not just closed, but this location is much smaller, so they were packed, and we had to wait for about 30 minutes to be seated(but then it was Friday night around 7:30pm). There seemed to be only one or maybe two waitresses, and they seemed swamped. It took a long time to get our drinks and food. Our bread came about five minutes after the soup, which was just disappointing because I like to dip the bread in the soup, but still, everything was good, hot, and fresh when it finally came. I had the tortellini alla panna, which was less flavorful than I remembered it, but still good. The portion size is decent for the price compared to other places, and it was the perfect temperature, and there was plenty of sauce. I also had a cherry Italian soda to drink. I think they just use Torani, but for using Torani they do a pretty good job. They pour the cream over the ice so just a little gets mixed in, and then there is extra cream on top. The bathrooms were very clean and well-stocked, and there is a pretty decent view of the kitchen from the back half of the restaurant or for anyone walking to the bathrooms. My only major complaint would be the alcohol selection. They had one good beer, Torani, and no good wines. $ 5 for a glass of Sutter Homes? No thanks. It sucks that they moved to a smaller space, and they need to figure out their staffing issues, but the food is good and I will be back someday.
