Fish tacos were extremely bland and under seasoned. My mother in laws lobster was undercooked.TWICE. Service was so rushed with appetizers coming out only minutes before entrees. Atmosphere has potential

Steak good, seafood bad(lobster and fish tacos). Service friendly but too rushed. May possibly be a good lunch spot, but not recommended for a memorable dinner experience.

Decided to try this restaurant for lunch with two friends. We had the sample trio for appetizer. The spinach dip, mozzarella sticks and fried pickles were tasty. Really enjoyed the soianch dip, better then other restaurants in the area. For entrées I had the chicken wrap, my friends had the quesadilla burger and buffalo flat bread. Everyone enjoyed their entrée. That is until my friend found hair in her flat bread. She had to wait about 10minutes for the waitress to come back over to inform her. The waitress was apologetic and they made my friend another flat bread. I think it was poor customer service for this establishment to still charge my friend due to their error. Overall the food was good aside from the issue my friend encountered.

Copper Penny Bar & Grill This restaurant is a great asset to the Town of Forest City! Limited waiting time for a table because of the great teamwork! Tables turn quickly for the next customer! Owners & Employees are attentive to each and every customer no matter the total bill! Now, to the food! This is my first visit and certainly will not be my last! The Ahai Tuna appetizer was awesome, and is so perfect that it’s can carry on its own without a bed of lettuce! Personally a small swirl on the plate of the wasabi(rather than a dolup) would be eye pleasing! Again, personally, I love eating the Ahai Tuna with chopsticks & I never leave home without a pair! No comparison to the Spinach Dip! It was so good even if I only got a bite! Last but not least, my entrée! My grilled salmon was eatable but over grilled and came out dry! Because I am a stickler to grilling seafood, I could tell a big difference! If all else fails, serve a wedge of lemon(I prefer lime) along with the salmon(a dash of sea salt) adds more flavor, but I know u must attend to everyone’s needs as a whole! Just saying… i am no chef, but I love good food! Ribeye was perfectly cooked and the vegetable was to my liking, however; some folks prefer their veggies much more tender! Again, just saying! The ambiance was awesome! Love the copper colors and your staff! This is probably more than u want to read, but in the end, if you continue to grow successfully, then my input will not fall on death ears. See you again my friend!
Dec. 22nd: Visited CP again last night! Called ahead to make reservations for a party of 6! No need to make rsvp; just call 30 minutes prior to arrival is my reply over the phone; yet, we are arriving within that timeframe! Upon arrival, I was asked if we had reservations! Appetizers and food exceeded my last review; however, social greeting and atmosphere seemed cold! Just saying! January 29, 2016: OMG! I feel like I am in LA or NYC! You guys rock and have out grown yourselves in such a short time! Keep it up! The Town of Forest City appreciates what you bring; but someone’s got to kick in to keep up! Wishing you much more luck in your success!

As a local to Rutherfordton, we were ESTATIC to find a good bar/restaurant in the area… we were quickly unsatisfied. Service: Our server, Jen, seemed like it was her first serving job, she did not introduce herself(serving 101: Hello, welcome to blank. my name is blank… duh) she didn’t welcome us– it was our first time-. She didn’t talk to us about the menu, or anything really. We haven’t received service that bad in years. Not to mention we came on New Years, and we didn’t even recieve a Happy New Years? Food: Horrible. Terribly unseasoned, the stuffed shrimp seemed as if they were boiled or steamed, no flavor at all. Frozen veggies, raw and bland potatoes. The pasta was a mess, thick pre-made alfredo sauce with dried(reheated) chicken and baby shrimp(you should advertise baby shrimp– I would’ve never ordered it) Atmosphere: Wonderul! The only reason I rated them 2 stars– for the bar. When you first enter you’re greeted by the amazing bar, dim lighting and TV’s surrounding the bar. Not sure about the 2nd section of restaurant. Drinks were excellent. Apps were OK. We will be back for drinks definitely but why pay $ 60+ for a meal that I could make much better at my home? Good luck Copper Penny… we’d love nothing more than to come back in the future and enjoy a night out with GOOD food and EXCELLENT service.

Ok so the food is mostly mediocre. I got a veggie burger that I’m pretty sure was sysco, but they dressed it up nice with a fried green tomato and I ate it town. But for our town it’s on the higher end of quality expected. The real prize here is the local rotating drafts and atmosphere. Just what we needed a place that stays open after dark and where you can socialize while trying a few gems from breweries in WNC. And vegetarian options! I’ll definitely keep visiting.

Update: I have heard nothing but good reviews from people who have been here, so I will give them another chance and post an update. I was really looking forward to this place. The atmosphere is nice but not as great as I expected. I ordered vegetable linguine and my husband got the fish tacos. The fish tacos were ok. The linguine was horrible. Oily noodles, overly salted, with huge pieces of nearly raw broccoli. And a frozen garlic breadstick. They didn’t charge me for the meal. Service was good but again not great. Ordered wine and beer, but had to specifically ask for water, none was offered. Probably won’t go back.

Love the atmosphere, the bar is really cute. They seemed a bit understaffed, waiters seemed in a panic or rush most the time. It does seemed to be packed often tho so I can see why. I loved my meal, but the sides seem a bit heavy on potatoes. Friendly staffed tho: D good food, great atmosphere ^_^

Wow, I’ve never seen this kind a crowd for a new restaurant opening around these parts. The main side has a beautiful bar with thousands of pennies inset into the bartop and 3 TVs on the wall. Tall tables are behind bar with booths along the wall. The other side has a few booths and regular tables. There are 12 taps from miller and bud light to Blue Moon, white IPA, bold rock cider, Gaelic ale just to name a few. They also have wine and a full liquor bar. The menu has some fine looking dishes including Tuna appitizers, wings, fried pickles, spinach dip, nachos. There is so much more and they have a trio platter to pick three. Main courses include burgers, steaks, pasta dishes, salmon, fish tacos and panini sandwiches, soups and salads. We had the raw tuna appitizer cooked just oh so slightly. Nice fresh flavorful served on a bed of ginger slices and spinach. For enters were the salmon with a creamed dill sauce. Absolutely fantastic. I had the mahi fish tacos with lettuce, Alvarado slice, and tomatoes with a lime sauce. Both come with 2 sides with many to choose from including corn on the cob. For the very first dinner service and only 3 waitresses and people lined up at the door, food was delivered promptly and correct. The future looks really really bright!
