Fish and chips very good. Onion rings awesome. Calabash chicken yum. Entire staff very professional and goes the extra mile. Manager himself visited us twice. Nice clean atmosphere. Will be going back.

Just poor management the food is fair but not worth the price. They lack a drink menu. I like the popcorn shrimp but thanks to the new restaurants in town it’s not really a good option. I suggest the copper penny over this place

Very very hit or miss. I’ve had the calabash chicken that was awesome and I’ve had the ribs that were dry and grizzly. Today is a miss day. Tried the ribs again with the sweet sauce. There was absolutely no taste to them, completely bland. The sauce was Baby Rays and was put on after ribs were cooked because it was cold. Others at the table thought their food was just so-so that included popcorn shrimp, beef tips and salmon. Service was friendly and prompt.

Good for a chain restaurant. I had the lite sirloin steak which was tasty, tender and cooked perfect(mr). Caesar salad was very good. Bread rolls were excellent. Ice tea was good. Service was good. Really, nothing to complain about. Better than some other Fatz I eaten at. The only reason it was not a 5 is because it’s a chain without a «knock your socks off» menu or food. Good place go with family, friends, spouse for regular outing.

Waited forever. Order came out wrong. Manager insinuated we ordered the wrong thing but the waitress knew we didn’t. Food mediocre, service slow, manager took meal off bill but was not cheerful about it. Probably won’t be back.

Great food and service from other restaurants in the area. The wait staff is on point. Portions are good. The music is played at the right level for me. I hate listening to people chew. I came in late(9:00) and my big surprise was that my salad was fresh. Good job fatz! Keep it up

My family & I have patronized Fatz several times since moving to the NC area this past year. The customer service is exceptional. From the onset you feel welcomed. We dined there last evening for birthday celebrations for 3 family members. Ryan, Manager, was very gracious & our service was above what I expect from restaurants; you can see how excellence is strived in staff & training but I truly feel these folks are exceptional anyway. Thank you for always making an evening out such a memorable time!

Really I’m giving this place 3 ½ stars. The service has always been very good here. They do a wonderful blackened fish sandwich that always comes out fresh and very tasty. Their bread, although greasy as all hell, is very tasty and always enjoyable. They do some really wonderful appetizers as well, including their fried egg rolls which are actually quite tasty. This is the kind of place that’s really good for families and really good for people looking for a quick lunch on a busy work day. There is nothing exceptional or unique about this place, but it’s serviceable and consistent.

The food is great but I have been there three times and had two horrible servers. They disappeared for a while, came back and smelled like a cigarette was burning in their pocket although it is a no-smoking restaurant. I had only one refill on my tea. I asked several times for more but they kept getting lost. I like the food but oh my goodness, PLEASE get servers who can SERVE on a table.

It’s a chain store. It’s good food, but lacks the charm, ambiance, or panache that a local restaurant would have. Don’t get me wrong, the place is fine, nothing wrong with the food, service, or what have you, but what makes this different from Ruby Tuesday’s, TGIF, or even the Denny’s up the road?

I always enjoy when I am able to go to a Fatz. My menu choice today was the Parmesan crusted chicken with 3 color penne pasta. I liked the crunch on the chicken coating and the three colors of the pasta was different and was a different flavor than what one usually gets with regular pasta. The triangle plate used made for a great presentation. Still hope this chain fins its way to Raleigh.

After several disappointing and worse experiences at this location we have revisited and found the new dining room manager to be a huge improvement and the service much improved. The ribs are tasty and saucy, the signature Calabash chicken is popular and new lunch combo’s allow for quick and flexible dining options. Pricing is variable with sandwiches and light fare starting below $ 10 and entrees mostly in the mid teens.

Friendly personnel, clean and welcoming atmosphere. They were busy Friday night and we had a 15 to 20 minute wait. Appears they may provide«call ahead seat reservations». The salad and rolls were great. The chicken soup was very salty, to the point that my wife could not eat it(which I’ve never witnessed before when it comes to chicken soup). The sirloin steak was very tough. We ordered our steaks medium, and mine was medium rare and my wires was well done. The 6 oz steak is very thin. The 10 oz is pretty think and about what you would expect, but very tough to cut and eat. Although my baked potato was«loaded» it was pretty dry as there was not much butter our sour cream on it. We will try something different on the menu next time.

I must admit that with a name like«Fatz» I was a little apprehensive to eat here since I am back on the fitness wagon(at the moment anyways) so a glass of water and the Mahi Mahi spinach salad is just what the trainer ordered! Fatz is a popular chain in these parts and it is synonymous with consistently good service and food. My visit here was no exception.

Fatz Café is a Carolina-based casual chain restaurant offering a good menu including appetizers, sandwiches, salads, soups, chicken, steaks, ribs, seafood, and desserts. Pepsi fountain drinks and a full bar menu offered as well as weekday lunch specials(11 – 3) starting at $ 5.99. The atmosphere is very comfortable and welcoming with a similar atmosphere to an Applebee’s or a 99 Restaurant. On our way to Charlotte, we got off US74 and made a stop for lunch at Fatz Café in Forest City(just below Wal-Mart). We were promptly seated at a comfortable booth. We started out with 2 Diet Pepsis and an order of Fried Green Tomatoes($ 6.79). The Fried Green Tomatoes were very good and filling to eat, which had a crispy batter outside and smothered with remoulade and cheese grits, a fork and knife was required for this appetizer. The waiter also brought out a basket of sweet poppyseed fried dough balls with honey butter, which were out of this world and very addicting to munch on, like Krispy Kreme donuts. The fried dough balls are very similar to those served at Stoney River Steakhouse. For lunch, my friend ordered the Creation Station($ 5.99)-Pick 2 dishes and chose a Dinner Salad and Half Chicken Salad Sandwich, which was pretty good. The salad had fresh lettuce, red cabbage, cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, real bacon bits, croutons, and dressing. The toasted half sandwich had a dense creamy chicken salad with lettuce & tomato with honey mustard on the side. I ordered the Ying Yang Shrimp Tacos($ 5.99), which were excellent tasting and to describe this dish, where Mexican tacos and Chinese flavors meet. This dish was very generous and had 3 soft grilled tortilla shells filled with lots of sweet & spicy crispy popcorn shrimp, lettuce, tomatoes, black beans, & cilantro and a pile of warm crispy colored tortilla chips on the side. The service by our waiter(an older gentleman) was spot on and very attentive. We got our food and drinks in a timely fashion. The waiter checked up on our table quite often, offering refills on the soft drinks and more fried dough balls to share. Fatz Café easily gets two thumbs up!
