This is my favorite sushi place in Queens! The owner is really nice and friendly, she always recognizes customers and actually talks to them. The sushi is fresh and their daily lunch special is a great deal. I always come here whenever I’m in Forest Hills.

I was pleasantly surprised by this mighty little sushi joint. I got the Salmon Lover plate(for a bit more than what I usually spend at a local sushi spot) and was delighted by the crunchy spicy salmon roll. The staff was attentive.

I really enjoy this place for a quick bite. Good sushi, rolls, and sashimi. Good soup too. I typically get green tea, miso soup, and 3-roll lunch special. Service great. Seating limited

I’d give them 3 ½ stars if it let me. The maki rolls are not bad, not the best I’ve ever had but I think they are good for the price. One critique I want to make is the salad dressing. Ew, awful. I am not sure if I’m a minority on this subject but I REALLY don’t like it. I forgot that when I ordered today, normally I’d get soup over salad because I dislike it so much. My salmon avocado roll, spicy tuna and avocado roll were all tasty. $ 11.50 is a GREAT deal for a 3 roll lunch special. My order came quick despite the snow storm we recently had, I’m glad I chose to tip well in advance.

I was choking for a long time after I ate something really spicy and not one person so much as asked me if I was OK or needed a glass of water. This is in a tiny place that has only a few small tables and is basically takeout. That ignorant girl at the front just ignored me and continued talking on the phone as did the two men making sushi. When one of the men walked by me to serve the table next to me where woman was sitting with her back to me playing on her cell phone during my choking episode, I asked him to bring me a glass of water and he didn’t know what I was talking about. The girl at the front finally came over after I stopped choking and when I asked her why no one helped, she just stared and then finally said that there was nothing she could do. When I said that maybe she would have had to call an ambulance, her reply was that maybe I ate too fast! By the way, their salmon teryaki box was lousy at best! They don’t even cut up the lettuce in the salad and the dressing is like nothing I have ever tasted. The california roll was tasteless. Be smart and forego this dive!

Good deal and close to our apartment. You can get 2 rolls for 8.50 or 3 rolls for 11.50 for lunch. It comes with miso soup or salad. They also have spider roll which my husband loved. The sushi tasted pretty fresh and the spider roll was still warm when it got to our table. The service was pretty good and she came over several times to ask us how our meal was. The total came out to 23. xx for 4 rolls. We got the spicy tuna, california and tuna avocado roll. The spider roll was not part of their lunch special and was $ 9 extra. I liked their spicy tuna roll, it was really good. I would definitely come back again for their lunch special!

This sushi restaurant is definitely our new go to in the area! The food was delivered so quickly even prime time 7pm on a Saturday night. The sushi was delicious & each thing ordered was great. We got pork gyoza which was flavorful & perfectly crispy from being pan seared. The spicy crunchy tuna roll was really good, especially with their spicy mayo to dip it in. The spider roll & the shrimp tempura rolls were large & the soft shell crab & shrimp both crispy & fresh tasting. For take out sushi this is the best I’ve had in a while & will definitely order it again.

So, new to the neighborhood and a huge sushi fan. Most places around here offer the 2hr all you can eat buffet for 30ish. I went to A Sushi for the lunch special(3 rolls for $ 11.50). I would say very reasonable on the price point and service was good. I wouldn’t say five star but I will certainly go back for a quick and cheap eat.

Solid sushi that tasted fresh. I love sushi and I am really creeped out by many of the sushi places in FH. Many of the choices are not good or fresh. Glad I tried this place because it’s okay by me! They do a nice yellowtail jalapeño roll.

The sushi here is great. The rolls are delicious and fresh. Their lunch special is amazing. 3 rolls for $ 11, is a pretty good deal. Had take out from here twice and both times I was in sushi bliss. Once was for the lunch special and the other was after 4. Both times were quick and and nothing short of pure mouth pleasure. We’ll definitely be coming back for more. The staff is so accommodating and nice.

UPDATESINCEMYLASTREVIEWINMAY: New Style Salmon, Spicy Tuna Cracker and the Avocado Salad(listed as appetizers) are amazing!!! The specialty rolls are delicious as well as the hot food. The food is fresh, the venue is clean and the owners are very personable. And, if there is something you don’t see on the menu, they will be happy to make it for you. You won’t be disappointed. I am very happy we have A Sushi on Austin Street.

Can’t beat the lunch special sushi roll deals! $ 8 for two rolls or $ 11 for three off of the select lunch menu and a choice of salad or soup. Place gets crowded around noon during the lunch rush and only accommodates 14 or so. Great place for take out too! I wanted to take it down to three stars for them charging a $ 1.00 for spicy mayo but I won’t since the fish was good. The rice could use some work.

Pros: Hostess was really nice Hostess offered separate bills for my friend and I A good variety of drinks Cons: The food ranges from average to subpar I ordered the calamari and was definitely not pleased! It was extraordinarily chewy. And compared to all the other calamari’s I have ever ordered, I would say this is my least favorite. They put more lettuce on the plate than actual calamari. One would think I ordered salad with Calamari, instead of a plate of calamari. The sushi… it was OK. But food wise, nothing really stood out that make me want to come back for more.

I’ve been eating sushi for many years and this has become one of my favorite Sushi restaurant. The place is small and intimate and the owners Amy and Raymond can’t do enough to make one feel very comfortable in there little restaurant. The Sushi is always fresh and Raymond loves to add a little creative magic to all his sushi dishes. If your a sushi lover I definitely recommend you check it you. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

Good for sushi? I guess. Good for Instagram pics? If you have a nice editing app. Came in here with my rowdy friends and the hostess was kind enough to push 2 tables together and offer us separate bills. With that service, shouldn’t this place get 4 stars at least? Nah. The sushi here is really average. It’s more for your quick fix for a sushi craving. We got the spicy tuna, Alaskan, and Boston. All 3 were good but portions were lacking for the price. Your best bet is to get the lunch special although both the salad and soup were shitty. The«salad» contains 5 pieces of lettuce with some weird dressing. The soup is just your average miso soup. Would I come again? No, but if I want to introduce a friend to sushi then yes.

Cute, small scale yet decorative sushi spot. I’d say its perfect for take out or a quick place to grab some lunch. I’ve recently become somewhat of a sushi connoisseur and I just can’t bring myself to give them anything better than 3 stars. The sushi was good… acceptable but nothing out of the ordinary. It’s missing something and I don’t know what it is!

I was really hoping to eat at A Sushi but due to it’s tiny me and my two friends were unable too. It was disappointing because the reviews seemed legit. Hoping to go back soon and get a taste of this place.
