Staff is great. Food and drinks are fabulous. Majority of the time my husband and I order the churrasco with a mojito and the flan for dessert. Amazing amazing combo!!! The churrasco is flavorful, the mojito comes with a sugar cane stick, and the flan is just succulent. Always our go to restaurant.

I have been here several times over the years and am sad to say the quality has gone downhill. The portions are definitely smaller and the food is no longer tasty. Their drinks are still good though. Beware of mixed meat and veg dishes as they tend to put much more veggies than meat.

Came here several times for dinner. The food and drinks are delicious. My favorite drink is the purple rain. Hard to find parking in by this restaurant but the food is delicious.

1. The portions have gotten smaller 2. Food tastes a bit different 3. and the waiters are still very strange. Most likely will not return again for a very very long time.

I really wanted to like this place. I found it on Unilocal and it had pretty good reviews so we decided to try it while we were in the area. I want to start by saying that the food was pretty good. My boyfriend ordered the seafood dish in a plum tomato and garlic sauce. It came with mussels, clams, shrimp, and a filet of salmon. Rice and beans came on the side. It was good and a big portion. I had the ropa Veija and it was delicious. It is shredded skirt steak with rice and beans, also a big portion. The drinks here are really bad. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been to a restaurant that uses a margarita mix rather than making it fresh, per order. I tasted it and asked for something else. The server was really nice about it. He brought me the menu to choose something else and did not charge me for the margarita. I had then ordered a glass of cabernet and he came back and informed me they were out of it. I ordered a different glass of wine that I’m really not a fan of. My boyfriend ordered a drink with rum and he didn’t like it either. It was too sweet and just didn’t taste very good. So for this reason, I have to give them 3 stars. Go for the food, not the drinks.

This place has a very friendly staff, drinks and prices are reasonable. The food and portions are amazing. It’s trendy very lively with a good mix of crowd. The coconut rice is a must try along with the ropa vieja they just pair so well. My only complain is that they need a better wine selection and although thankfully I have never had to wait but I have seen long lines. I have also done pick up orders and they are quick. Great place to meet up with friends.

Good food but the quality has definitely gone down over the years. Try to empanadas, plantains & the steak.

I absolutely love this restaurant. The entrees are great. I’ve tried so many of their entrees being that I’ve been there so many times. My favorite is the Paella, it’s loaded with delicious seafood, they definitely do not skimp on their food. The wait may be long at times, especially on the weekends or if waiting for outside seating during the warmer months but it’s totally worth it. The staff are great, very knowledgable and hospitable. And the overall ambience of the place is authentically Cuban-American style makes the time there so much more enjoyable. Definitely will be back and would recommend.

Everything about this restaurant was great. Service was awesome; attentive, professional, proactive, and accommodating(we switched tables after being seated). The waitress even assisted in our choices for the evening. Food; delicious, flavorful, and greatly heated. The worst thing is a place serving the food too hot or too cold. Our food was ready to eat and delicious. We went with the Jamaican chicken, coconut rice, and steak meals. Great options if you are hungry. We even had some to take home! Our appetizer was good too but I forgot the name but I’ll add pictures of everything. Prices; fair. This type of restaurant knows it’s worth so you can’t expect anything less for the service you are getting. Overall a great experience and my date got huge points for bringing me to this nice establishment. Enjoy!

Love Love Love the food here! Sometimes there is a wait and they don’t take reservations. They need a better system. There is also no where to wait inside so I don’t bother coming here when it’s cold if there is going to be a wait. But you gotta take the bad with the GOOD, because everything here is like you were eating fresh cuban food with Fidel Castro. The empanadas, broccoli balls, soups, salads all great Arroz con pollo is great and usually have tons of left overs to take home. I wish they added pernil to their regular menu but you gotta catch it on special.

After walking by Cabana for years, I finally ventured in recently for a friend’s birthday. It was only 5pm on a Saturday, but the place was already packed with people drinking sangria. I got the arroz con pollo which consisted of chicken, chorizo, and olives in saffron rice. It was good, but nothing too special. It kind of tasted like every other chicken and yellow rice dish but came in a comically large portion. We also got the fried yucca which was great and came with a corn dipping sauce. However, for the high prices, there are definitely better Spanish restaurants in Queens.

Do not come. My mom and i visited this restaurant at dinner time. we sat down and the roof was leaking water, so we requested to move to another table. The manager gave us a dirty look; then we waited for a while(really more than 20 min) to ask for menu, the manager yelled at us: what do you want now!!! I was really shocked. The food is good if you do not mind such service.

I’ve eaten at cabanas several times. It’s a little pricie but well worth it. It’s a quaint Cuban restaurant. With a personable staff.

Strong drinks, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious food! We came on a weeknight on the recommendation of a few friends. We were able to sit outside and enjoy. There was a little wait, which was OK because we sat at the bar and had a great mojito. Its definitely a great spot for a date or girls night. We ordered the plantain chips as an appetizer. They were good, but for the price, not worth it. The chips should have been a freebie. Like bread is at an italian restaurant or chips and salsa is at a mexican restaurant. In the end, they were good. I ordered the Coco Cabana Pollo any my boyfriend ordered the Chuletas de Cerdo. Both were decent sized portions and very tasty. This is definitely a spot to hit for an overall enjoyable experience.

I’ve been here a few times for dinner years back and finally again recently. I really enjoy the food and hospitality at Cabana. Our waitress, Paola was wonderful. Very sweet and attentive. I mentioned my seafood allergy and she warned me that everything was fried in the same oil. Unfortunately for me, I wasn’t able to try majority of the menu. Anyways, I’ve always ordered the pollo al ajillo for dinner, essentially chicken breast in a delicious garlic sauce. It was very good each time, as well as the rice and beans that come with it. The churrasco(skirt steak) was so tender and juicy as well. Also, every time that I’ve eaten here, we shared the brownies with coconut ice cream dessert. The thing is huge! Three of us could barely finish it. So so so good. And then my café con leche — perfect end to an authentic Latin American meal. Others at the table ordered cappuccinos and they were also well made and beautifully presented. My only legitimate complaint about Cabana is the size and set up of the restaurant. It’s relatively small and tables are placed very close together, making the atmosphere a bit loud. This is to be expected given the area but still… On my last visit, we ended up making friends with the two women sitting at the table next to us because we were in fact that close together(my aunt is overly friendly and decided to start a conversation). It was fine for us, we all got along nicely and ended up chatting away but I could see how some may find this situation annoying. Regardless, I do like Cabana a lot. Parking is difficult in Forest Hills so I only really come to the area when it’s convenient for all parties involved.

Been here a couple of times. Cabana is my favorite restaurant in Forest Hills. The restaurant is small and narrow but the service is good and so is the food. My favorite dish is the Garlic Chicken & Shrimp. They go the extra mile with plating so everything looks really nice. I tried the appetizer sampler but my favorite is the jerk wings. It’s not the traditional jerk flavor but it’s their rendition lol more sweet but still yummy. If you’re on Austin or in the Forest Hills area I would suggest you come to Cabana. I never leave disappointed.

3.5 stars Me and a friend were searching for late night Latin eats and stumbled across Cabana; they were open until 1am which was perfect. Once inside we were seated right away. The table we were given was in the back of the dinning room, right by the bathroom. I asked the hostess if we could be moved to another table, I mean I didn’t want to stare at the bathroom door all night or have people in line for the bathroom hovering over our table. She informed us it would be a 20 minute wait, I asked about the open tables I saw and she stated they were all four tops. I was way to hungry to wait 20 minutes for anything other than my food so we remained by the bathroom :-/. Our seating in the back was extremely tight as well. Our dinner was interrupted by the customers sitting at the table next to us. We had to get up so they could get out, that was just ridiculous. We ordered drinks, a Mai Tai for me and a Bahama Mama for my friend. Drinks were tremendously strong, especially mine. I didn’t want to be a weakling and ask for more juice in mine so I just added some ice from my water. I sipped on that bad boy all night and was drunk by the time we left. For apps we ordered the yucca fries and jerk wings. Yucca fries were an utter disappointment; they were flavorless, just bland. The accompanying mojo de maiz was watery and bland as well. When the jerk wings came out they looked appetizing and smelled spicy, the portion was large as well. The wings were really saucy too, just like I like them, but they weren’t jerk. They had the smokey aspect but not the spice; they actually weren’t spicy, at all! The sauce was more sweet, with a nice molasses flavor and dark color. I loved that they used molasses, it’s such an underappreciated ingredient in the kitchen. Our entrees were huge, I mean we literally could have ordered one and shared. I got the Pollo con camarones, which was presented uniquely; two boneless chicken breasts sandwiched with two fried green plantains and saffron rice topped with jumbo shrimp and held together by a sugar cane spear. It also came with black beans and a rioja demi glaze that was delicious; it was thick like a southern gravy and very flavorful. The chicken breasts were moist, the beans were seasoned just right and went perfect with the plantains and rice. That rioja glaze was the icing on the cake. My friend ordered the Chuletas de cerdo, two massive grilled pork chops marinated in garlic oregano mojo with saffron rice and beans. I didn’t hear any complaints only lip smacking so I guess she enjoyed it lol The service was good but a bit rushed. I mean we were hungry so getting our food orders in were top priority but we were indecisive when looking at the menus. The waiter was a bit pushy with taking our orders but equally just as accomodating. All in all our food came out in a timely manner and we were happy with our entrée choices.
