When you go to a restaurant, you usually don’t know what to expect, so when my coworker who east only Kosher offered to have Lunch at Cho Sen, I said ok. Their food is very good I had the sweet and sour chicken, and my friend had the fired rice with chicken, both were great

Had my eye on this place for a while now. Nice big restaurant with plenty of seating, and cozy booths. Great menu options, little bit of everything to choose from. My husband and I ordered the hot&sour andchicken&corn soup. For the entrée we went with kung pao chicken. Hot and sour soup was delicious! Actually, best I ever tasted. Cant say the same for chicken and corn. Bit too much corn flavor, just didnt taste right for me. The entrée was very good. Just enough portion for two pple to share. Real pieces of chicken breast, and shitake mushrooms toped off with water chestnuts and peanuts. Very delicious. Service was very good. We were always taken care of and wait for food wasnt long at all. Honestly, great place for kosher dining. Good food and service. Next time want to try the beef spare ribs(they were out of those) and chicken with mixed veggies. My only complaint is the tiny rice bowl that comes with the dish. Just enough for one person. Maybe, its just me? Either way still coming back. Craving that hot&sour soup already!

Not sure what’s wrong with the flavoring but the food could be improved in this spot. Love that it’s kosher and Chinese food but flavoring is a bit blah, needs more variety on the menu

It’s good food for the price that’s the best way to say it. Great for get togethers or a party.

This place used to have great quality kosher Chinese food. The food is still ok(which is why i giving them 2 stars), but not close to the way it used to be. People still come here in droves mainly because its kosher Chinese food in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood. However, the last 2 times I’ve come to Cho-Sen I have been disappointed at the quality of food. Some dishes were overcooked, burnt, or just plain bland. They have definitely lost their Edge. If the food wasn’t still kosher they would have closed their doors within the month. I don’t know what happened to this place, maybe they changed their management(who knows). I do hope they improve their food dishes to the way it used to be. Service is a little awkward too, since most of the middle-aged Chinese male servers can barely speak a word of english.

I grew up on Chinese food either form take-out or in a restaurant. We had our favorite spots and frequented them.(Mind you, this place was not one of them. I’m a Brooklyn native. :) I moved on from the Europeanized Chinese food the authentic dishes that you only seem to get from authentic Chinese food restaurants. None the less, every once in a while I get a hankering for some egg roll, sweet and sour soup, beef broccoli, and chicken chow mei fun, so I was excited when I came here for dinner recently, especially since I’ve been dying to grab some take-out from a local joint. The things that caught my eye when I first entered are the décor and the sushi station in the back. Okay, so the décor is a bit outdated. It’s homy! But the sushi station screams of desperation. If I want sushi, I’ll go to a place that specializes in sushi. Maybe a restaurant that is labeled as being expert in Japanese cuisine? Still, looks can be deceiving, right? Well, I ordered the Pu-Pu platter. The best thing to get, since it gives you a variety of foods to try. Well, it turns out that the food arrived cold, but that’s okay, because there’s a flaming grill in the middle to warm everything up. I love a good BBQ! Having a blast until I placed that first morsel in my mouth. I’m sorry, but I’ve had so much better. Every entity on that platter was either over-salted or just tasteless. If it wasn’t for the Chinese noodles and duck sauce, tea, and water at the table. The spring roll was soggy on the inside and the crispy batter coated drum stick was tasteless. The dumpling was over salted and had way too much Worcestershire sauce. The BBQ spare ribs were heavily drenched in their sauce. THe chicken rounds, which are potato cubes mixed with ground chicken and then fired into a type of hash-ball, was interesting, though there was no flavor and there was very little chicken. It was essentially a ball of potato hash with some leftover chicken. I’m sorry, but it wasn’t very appetizing at all. The beef skewers were actually okay and that is what saved them in this review. Granted, I only ordered one platter, but it was a variety of their dishes. A pretty large spreed too. It left a lot to be desired. One other thing I’d like to mention is the cost. If you look up their menu on-line you will find no prices on it, but the prices were listed on the menus at the restaurant. It was sticker shock of the worst kind. I have never seen such horrific and obscene prices in a standard Chinese restaurant before. I’ve read the other reviews here for the place and understand that it is a(Glatt) kosher entity. I got the impression from overhearing various conversations at other tables that most of the people that came here to eat were regulars, i.e. they either grew up eating there or have been going there for years.(Methinks because of a lack of anything better that’s just as close.) So they obviously have a dedicated clientele. Honestly, that’s great to hear and I hope they keep serving these dedicated customers well. I realize that some may be reading this and think that I may picking on this place because of it’s observance of a particular groups dietary restrictions(it’s the PC way of saying it, right? *ugh*), however I am happy to say that I have eaten at other kosher establishments in NYC that are absolutely out of this world. Unfortunately, this is not one of those places. The reason this place is actually getting the second star is because Unilocal’s rating system translates this to ‘Meh. I’ve experienced better,’ which is a very accurate representation of how I feel. Also, since I didn’t actually have any of the entrees, it MAYBE worth giving it a second try, but I won’t be coming in here probably ever again. Again, I wish lots of success to this place, because apparently it is a jewel in this neighborhood and Queens as a whole. Enjoy!

This is a great place to eat. The food is fresh and is very tasty. I come here with my family pretty much every weekend. It is more on the pricer side, but hey it’s kosher dinning so what do you except.

I’ve been coming here for many years and today I have never experienced such horrible service. Usually they have decent food and yes they are kosher but they are always dirty and closed for inspection. The mashgiyah is never in the kitchen so only God knows what they are putting inside our food. Very nasty people work there with such horrible attitude. Never again

I’ll been coming here for years, They all know me by name, it feels good to be remembered. When I order take out the food is always ready in about 15 mins, I love the speed. When dining in I usually don’t make reservations the wait is normally not so long(on the weekends could be alil longer) It’s really family friendly my kids love this place it’s the favorite restaurant.

One of the best Chinese restaurants in NYC, kosher or not. Old fashioned Chinese meals that all are familiar with, like beef & broccoli and sesame chicken, Japanese sushi as well. An excellent prix-fixe menu is under $ 30 and gives you a plate plus soup and appetizer and dessert. A well deserved meal for any lover of good Chinese food.

Came here with the in-laws for lunch during their little stay here in NYC after a nice little venture into the city. It’s not far from home, I still don’t come here often because I’m not a big fan of Chinese food. But this is a great place to come with the Glatt Kosher folk which is why I gave them four stars. They are monitored by VHQ and the establishment seems pretty clean. We ordered off the lunch specials menu. They first serve you an abundance of wonton crisps with sweet and sour sauce. I began with a hot and sour soup, which I always enjoy here. For the entrees we ordered a few large dishes which came with rice and soups. We had Chicken Broccoli, Sesame Chicken(both self explanatory) and Hunan Beef, this originally came spicy but we had them make it mild, because Im not a fan of the spicy cuisine(yet to try Indian Food), and had plenty of veggies(my fav). This is a nice place to come for dinner as well, it’s on the pricey side but it’s one of the best Glatt kosher restaurants in Queens, «so spend that paypa» lol

My husband and I really love the food from Cho-Sen. The food is tasty, our order is always ready on time, and the woman that runs the front counter pretty much remembers everyone who walks through the door. My favorite, the lo-mein is good and tasty. My husband can never decide between sesame chicken and general tso’s. Everything is always saucy and the portions are a good size. My only complaint is they never give enough sauce. They have these to-go bags made up with crispy noodles, duck sauce, one mustard and one soy sauce packet. Who in the world uses only one soy sauce packet? I mean if I could… I would bath in it, but even for the normal world… one? one soy sauce packet? That’s just not enough. Oddly, they don’t include chop stix. I always have to remember to ask for extra sauce and chop stix.

A kosher Chinese food. and one that taste good. Believe it or not, this is this place. On a side street in Forest Hills, not trying to be fancy, but with very friendly people. Me and my friend went there for lunch, and since she only eat kosher, she chose the place. Kind and friendly people, and fresh and delicious food.

I had them do a lunch for me in an office. The salmon, chicken were good. The sushi was okay nothing great. The vegetables were good and fresh. This is a decent Glatt kosher restaurant in Rego Park. The spicy mayo was good too. The prices are higher because it is Glatt kosher so I expected that. Fast delivery everything came on time. So this place will be added to my list for kosher restaurants to call when I need to do a lunch in an office.
