My friend and I always go to this restaurant when we meet up. Some favorites are their crispy Bangkok chili chicken, sautéed water spinach, and their roti canai! Their roti canai is best eaten as an appetizer. My friend and I always use the leftover sauce from the roti canai on our rice… It is something worth trying! Drinks wise, I always end up getting their Thai Iced tea as they don’t have the Malaysian one at the moment, and their fresh soybean milk!

The food is good, nothing special. Atmosphere is a little dingy. Its the only place in all of Forest Hills that has Roti Canai, and its good. I come just for that.

Truly disappointing. We went for dinner tonight and the food was just horrible. Papaya salad had no flavor at all, pad Thai had no flavor either, spare ribs that came so highly recommend were undercooked and gross. The only decent thing was roti. The hostess was borderline rude and wore filthy old sneakers. I’m not joking I could not believe my eyes. To top everything off when we inquired why the papaya salad was missing the chillies listed in the menu, and had carrots in stead, She insisted they are in there so I asked her to show me where and she couldn’t. Food was tasteless. So disappointed. Do your self a favor and don’t waste your money. There’s hundreds of places to eat this is not a good one.

I was born in Malaysia and have had Malaysian food all over the world. This is one of the worst I’ve had. Nothing authentic about it. Malaysian food is known for its taste and this was bland and unappetizing.

This is our go-to asian fusion spot for delivery. I’ve never ate in the actual restaurant, but have ordered delivery numerous times. Every time the food comes hot and well packed. They also have never messed up a single order. It’s very easy to order from here on and you avoid any miscommunications in ordering.

My wife and I are definite fans of this place. We know most of the things we’ve tried here are decent Malaysian fare, which is not to say it’s bad by any means. The reason we keep ordering time and time again, are their chicken wings. They are perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Coupled with the sweet sauce that comes with it, sometimes multiple orders would be our dinner. I’m also a fan of their Tom Yum Noodle Soup. There are large pieces of seafood and the combination of the broth and noodles complete a great flavor profile. Other places have been disappointing with regards to the amount of seafood and the lack of spiciness to the broth. My wife usually gets the Pad Thai or Capitan noodles. Honestly, I can’t tell the difference between the different types of noodles aside from the variation in ingredients. The flavors are similar no matter which noodle dish you get.

The roti canai was really good. Definitely recommend an order or two of it! Vegetable spring rolls were good too. Other than that, the food at this place was average, not the best, not the worst. We ordered a thai green curry, which was not served with any rice or anything else… We had to order rice separately. We also ordere, seafood tom yum soup, the Malaysian fried noodles and the sizzling beef. For dessert, we got the fried ice cream and fried bananas(item #103 on the menu) and it tasted like too much oil… I didn’t really enjoy it.

Ordered 4 items and literally got the food in 2 minutes. Makes you wonder what kind of care went into making the food. The sauces turned out watery, and the rest were just terrible. I don’t even feel like getting into details. Please get a new chef that cares.

Went for take out yesterday. Got the seafood rolls and pad thai. They both were disgusting! I couldn’t eat either of them, they tasted like they had been soaked in oil for hours, or something. There was no flavor at all, except the oil, or whatever that gross flavor was, to the pad thai in particular. Thai is my favorite type of food, so I’ve had quite a bit. But this was by far the worst. They obviously didn’t care. I will say though that the woman at the front was super sweet and kind. Sad that the food couldn’t live up to her service.

New Pinang! I always get the nasi lemak and beef rendang. The beef can be pretty fatty sometimes, but the sauce is so good! This is some serious comfort food. The portions are very generous, which makes the price fair. You will walk out of there stuffed. In fact, prepare to take some home. If you’re into Durian like me, then check out the milkshake. We’ve ordered so many dishes here. My husband, a native Malaysian, likes the roti cinai. We’ve been here many times and there are usually only a few tables, which is great if you want to be able to hold a conversation. I often see families with little kids and couples. I think that they also deliver, as I see guys come in out with food bags. The female server is always very nice and smiles. She has made some good recommendations about what they make best.

I’ve never dined at the restaurant but have been ordering take out from this establishment for almost two years now & recently have noticed a change in the one meal we order every single time: Pad Thai with Shrimp. As of late, there are now string beans & it’s very dry. The dish used to have a bit more sauce even though it’s not traditionally a dish that would be considered sauce; however now the noodles are so stuck together by lack of liquid that you can pick up the entire dish of noodles with your fork. It used to come with a slice of lime, now a slice of lemon is in its place. The sizzling beef with peppers & onions with a side of coconut rice has remained consistent & so has the pork gyoza & potato curry puff which are all very good. The delivery is very quick & the food is always very hot & items that should be crispy are, so we continue to order from this Thai restaurant but there are many Thai restaurants that deliver in the area so they should really look at the Pad Thai since it is an item ordered by most people. A great Thai restaurant should have a great Pad Thai… just saying.

Pretty substandard. Every dish ordered was a letdown except for the roti canai. I wouldn’t go back.

Blah! How does a Malaysian place not have hainese chicken ready !!! Had to wait 40 mins for them to steam it. This place has changed and I think it’s under new management. The servers all looked like they rolled out of bed in dirty clothes and dirty finger nails. Gross ! Don’t go here !!! The menus were sticky too !!

I have been here a few times. Very very fast service. Clean place. Nice staff. Cheap prices. I love the Canai Roti off the appetizer and the grill chicken Kabob. I love the Pineapple fried rice.

Not bad, not bad, at all! I didn’t have high expectations when I walked in because the place was empty at high noon and there was no one in the whole restaurant when I walked in. Confused like a lost child, I wandered to the kitchen where a random worker was cleaning pots and pans. Me: «Are you open??» Worker: «Sit anywhere you want.» Okay then… I grabbed a menu and seated myself. The menu looked like a hyper mishmash of Asian cuisines: Chinese, Indonesian, Indian, Thai, Malaysian, and Vietnamese. Unfazed, I ordered the Belachan Chicken With String Beans. Belachan is shrimp paste used commonly in Southeast Asian cuisine and has a spicy, funky, seafoody flavor. It’s delicious and this entrée was no exception. I gobbled it up. I wish it was spicier and maybe had more stuff on the plate besides chicken, string beans, and a few lonely-looking slivers of red peppers. As accompaniments to my meal, I had the roti canai(fried thin indian pancake served with chicken/potato curry dipping sauce), apparently one of their most popular dishes on the menu. Parts of it were super crispy(which I liked), and other parts were reminiscent of chewing a wad of gum(obviously dislike). The curry was slightly spicy and delicious with the crispy thin bits. The lunch special also came with a free fried pork wonton soup — something I’ve never had before, interesting, flavorful, and surprisingly good for being free. I’d definitely have it again(forrrr freeeeeeeeeee, of course!) Overall, I would go again as their food is a great bargain. Service is casual and surprisingly laid back. Maybe they don’t know they’re in NYC!

Pinang is my family’s go to place for a meal out in our neighborhood. I’ve basically tried most of the menu throughout the past 5+ years. My absolute favorite choices are the roti canai, mee goreng, and mango chicken. The restaurant is pretty fancy for an Asian restaurant in Queens, but the food is not as good as the Pinang in Elmhurst, and the quality can be a bit inconsistent at times. That being said, I will always be a frequent customer of Pinang.

Delivery review only. 2.5 stars We ordered two beef phos and a roti. Delivery took a little over an hour, which would have been fine, had the food come hot. The broth was luke warm and the noodles were all stuck together and would not separate. The broth itself was just okay but the roti was pretty good.
