I love everything about you Sizzler. The memories, the menu, and the feelings your Texas toast gives me.

Why did they close this place it was so good I loved the food and service. I waited 5 years to go here and when I finally did get to this location it closed in a month I should have came sooner this was my best childhood memory and I’ll never forget all the good times I’ve had here.

Been going here for years, food is always good and hot, I absolutely love the salad bar! And where else can you get all the shrimp you can eat, ok… The steaks aren’t Peter Luger steaks but they do the job. As for the kids, order them the salad bar and watch them devour the chicken wings and Mac and cheese, the price isn’t insane and you can feed a whole family for under $ 100.

Sadly this Sizzler is closed down. It was the last one in New York State but it was fine while it lasted. The food was low quality and we all know buffets are unhygienic. If you really need to go back to the Sizzler, I read that there is one left and that is in Florida.

So, me and a friend made the hour long trek from Manhattan to Forest Hills queens(take the E train) to eat at the last sizzler in the north east after dying of laughter watching the 1991 promotional video, «sizzler for the 90s.“Despite the fact that the décor is old and ratty, and hasn’t been updated since that era, the staff and service was good, and the food tastes like all u can eat salad and etc. buffet fare. Eat as much salad as you like, and indulge in average ribs or steak. I give 5 stars because it is worth coming just to have a retro campy experience. I also agree that the ‘corn nuggets’ are tasty, they have a yummy ice cream machine, and not too bad Taco bar at the salad bar, with bubbly orange nacho cheese for topping with fresh guacamole. Go sizzler!!!

I have gone to Sizzler for years and in many locations, I always had fond memories. This night was not packed as it used to be! Sadly, I see the Sizzler Restaurants slowly closed one by one(including Rego Park, etc.). Always had and still has a very nice Self-Service Open Salad Bar with a nice selection and fairly priced at $ 12.99 or $ 4.99 added to a Full Entrée! Soup, Taco, Spaghetti, wings, great assortments of Salads — Tuna, Seafood, potato, macaroni, assorted fruits, spinach/greens, broccoli, mushrooms, dessert, etc. Still Sizzler food, comforting … not expecting Peter Luger’s Food Quality or service! We asked this nice waitress, Medina where was her tables. Medina was pleasant and helpful. The only shining Star! One Star for her and One for the food! Read and interpret Ad Specials carefully, check start and ending of Lunch, Brunch, Dinner timings, Ask Questions !!! … Eaters BEWARE! In the same picture frame near the entrance at the corner as you turn, there was an eye-catching SIZZLERSPECIAL Ad /New York Boneless Strip Sirloin Steak Including Salad Bar for $ 17.99 with a Picture of the Big Appetite Combo(Steak, Shrimp and Ribs)! Sooooo… I thought … «the BIGAPPETITECOMBO. Steak/Shrimp/Ribs would be served today with NY Boneless Strip Sirloin Steak/Shrimp/Ribs + Including Salad Bar for $ 17.99. I was WRONG… WRONG… WRONG!!! The Meal arrived with ONLY a NY Boneless Strip Sirloin Steak. It was good, but not what I was expecting. I let the Cashier who assisted me know, who responded … ‘Yes, it happens a lot’, didn’t’ seem to care and walked away. Sure enough, a little later, the people at the table next to us started complaining and told the Manager about the Sizzler Special Ad not looking like the picture! They told us the Manager didn’t care. Destroyed their pleasure of enjoyment! Sad… =( They were right. The owner was not there, so I even asked the Manager, maybe if two people had the same disappointment, he would do something. NO! I was informed by the Manager…‘I can’t do anything about it’ … …and I would have to take it up with the owner. » The Manager didn’t go to call the owner, didn’t seem to care as the other couple mentioned to me and … the Sizzler Special Ad stayed up. Very Sad! I felt like this last Queens Sizzler was slowly dying before my eyes… I hope that Sizzler turns around the ‘poor reviews’. Starts Caring for their customers & the food, stay employed … make money, …Win, Win, Win!

When I want to wow my friends, or treat myself to an amazing brunch and or dinner I take them somewhere else. Sizzlers is the place I take my parents for brunch(and dinner back in the day, classic rookie mistake. only take them out for brunch, they end up wanting brunch buffet stuff anyway) whenever they’re in the mood for familiarity. Something about knowing exactly what to expect in a mediocre ‘it’s okay if you don’t win’ kind of attitude Sizzlers is close to all of our hearts. It’s the Chris Kirkpatrick of NSYNC, somehow Sizzlers isn’t ever as bad in your memory until you pay for your plate have your meal and then realize you could have totally hooked up with Justin Timberlake(I mean at LEASTJC Chasez) if you would have Unilocaled your other options before hand. I mean Sizzlers fits the bill for an-on-a budget dining with a large group/private party type of deal. Their party room isn’t fancy by any means whatsoever but it’s cozy and private and perfectly A-OK when you’re working on stretching your dollars worth.

The service at Sizzler, in general, has been hit-or-miss throughout the years. I remember one time at their Rego Park location(Queens Blvd and Junction Blvd, now closed) where I ordered a burger entrée with salad bar and the [censored] server didn’t bring the salad plates until the entrée was ready! The whole point is to be able to enjoy the salad bar BEFORE eating the entrée, and on this occasion if I did that the burger would have gotten cold. I wish I had called the manager and read him the riot act. But that was a different location, now closed. Back when they had numerous locations in the NY area, different stores had their own policies and practices. At some locations, the salad plates were at the salad bar and you help yourself. At others, the server brings you plates. I remember one time at Metropolitan Avenue(this location) where we had to wait a long time for our plates. The sign above the salad bar taunted us: «Nobody salads like Sizzler!» My inner Sam Kinison wanted to shout, «I’d like to find out for myself, if only you’d bring me some [censored] PLATES!!!» As far as the food… I generally order the Malibu Chicken entrée. Malibu Chicken is a breaded piece of chicken with a piece of ham and cheese melted on top of it. It’s pretty good. It comes with your choice of potato(fries, baked) and a large piece of «Sizzler Toast.» Once in a blue moon I’ve gotten the burger but it wasn’t that great. When it comes to the salad bar, I only like a few things. On the hot salad bar, I like the mac and cheese and the corn fritters/puffs/(whatever they’re called). I take a couple of onion rings, and sometimes I take a couple of pieces of sausage from the sausage-with-peppers tray. On the cold salad bar, I just LOVE the tuna pasta salad — I could probably just order the salad bar by itself and fill up with this! The only thing I don’t like about it is the red things, which I presume are tomatoes. When I fill my plate I make sure not to take any of the red things.(I just don’t like them, I’m not saying they’re ‘bad’ in the sense that if you eat them you’ll get sick. You won’t.) The tuna pasta salad would be a perfect dish if they didn’t have those red things in them, so I don’t have to deal with fishing them out. They offer free refills on sodas, which is a definite plus in my book — but depending on the server, it can be tough to get their attention and even after you ask for the refill you might have to wait a few minutes before they bring it out. Desserts: the«ice cream» is more like ice milk. It’s very thin. I prefer the chocolate pudding, which is available in the salad bar. Sometimes I take one of the ice cream cones and put some pudding in it. Final thought: I was surprised to learn that this was the only location in the Northeast United States, because there used to be many more in NYC and the metropolitan area — Rego Park, Bayside, Massapequa Park, Elmont(just to name four), and we used to go to those locations all the time. The food is okay, and I’d go back. If you’re visiting NYC from one of the areas where Sizzler is common, you might want to check it out to see how this one compares to the ones back home.

I really enjoy coming here with family. They have a deal for individuals 60+(I think that’s nice). I love the salad bar. It’s an excellent place to go if you want to relax, «pig out», and be casual. I came here the other day our entrees were all mixed up(thank goodness for the salad bar to keep us somewhat distracted). I ordered the grilled salmon, instead of rice an order of mashed potatoes, and broccoli. My food arrived with the salmon, rice, and potatoes. I asked if I could bring my side salad home(spinach was the only lettuce that was not turning brown) because they forgot my vegetable. When I consulted with our waitress, she ignored me(did not even offer to make my entrée the way it was intended to be). They also completely forgot our burger(felt like it should have been compensated because we wound up bringing it home because it was too late). Waitress was rude. A gentleman came over and asked how we were doing(not only to ask about our food — he was just cheerful). We thought to ourselves, wish he was our waiter! Service has declined.

I’ve been to much better buffets but there’s nothing like one from Sizzler. Sizzler is part of my childhood. I’ve been eating here with my family after church every Sunday since I was a baby. Not this location though, the one in Elmont. But since that location closed and turned into Applebee’s, I did the switch. I was born in the 80’s and the buffet has been the same since then: Some fried chicken, spaghetti, corn puffs, rice, mac n chz, corn on the cob(sometimes), veggies, soup, an actual salad bar, some fruit and an ice cream station. Very simple, consistent, and enjoyable. I always just get the salad bar; Funny, I have never ordered a meal, but my family has and they enjoy it. The ribs, shrimp, and steak are their favorites. I have never gotten over the top service here, so if you did you’re probably a regular or they rehired since the last time I’ve been there. I believe this is the only one left in NYC so if you’re a Sizzler fan, get it in before this one disappears.

The restaurant is a little too small. The food choices are not that much; however, it ‘s good enough for us. On the other hand, the service was slow until Ms Medina showed up. She help us to get all we need. Thank you, Medina.

«Prepare to be blown nowhere» That’s what said to a friends girlfriend when we decided to visit Sizzler one night. She could see that both me & my friend were excited to go, but the only thing I could tell her about the place was the opening line. So why the excitement? My friend & I had fond memories of the sizzler back when they had many locations & it was the place for birthday parties & to take out of town visitors. Yes, it’s true what’s been said: it hasn’t changed for 15 years, but that’s part if the appeal for us — nothing has changed, when you order the salad bar they still have great(yet salty) chicken wings, meatballs, ravioli, make your own salad, taco bar, etc. A few suggestions I would give to someone is don’t bother with the steak. There is no seasoning = no taste & the consistency is somewhere between dog toy & hockey puck, a truly underwhelming experience. Do try to get yourself a slice of the cheese toast. It usually comes in an entrée as a side so steer away from the steak & go for safer bets like shrimp or the ribs. Also, sizzler is underrated for their burgers — they are a decent size & dripping with melted cheese & bacon. The ice cream machine is a no for me. I enjoy ice cream, & I find that their machine produces a water based solution with chocolate or vanilla flavor. A step down from ice cream you would get at the cafeteria of a local elementary school. If you have room for dessert, they have fruit options such as watermelon & peach slices. It’s also the only place I know that has various pudding flavors: chocolate, banana(which is more like vanilla) & a flavor I have seen nowhere else, cookies & cream. Service has always been nice whenever we go. In fact, we usually tip well because it seems that the wait staff puts up with more than they deserve. They do always keep the clean plates & drinks coming. Speaking of drinks, they do serve beer however skip that & get the fruit punch. If you like kool-aid, you won’t be sorry. I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for sizzler. That said, the 3 star review is like giving an over-the-hill champ a pat on the back for a good effort. Try to enjoy sizzler while you can, because I won’t be surprised if it goes the way of all the other locations within the next few years.

My daughter drags me to this place and each & every time I kick myself for not knowing any better. As everyone else has basically already said, this place hasn’t changed in like 15 years. The only things worth going here for are the chicken wings, corn nuggets and that damn frozen water ice cream concoction. It’s like eating lunch in a Junior High School themed restaurant except that it’s Sizzler so obviously there are old people everywhere. The last time I was forced to go here by my sweet little girl the frozen water ice cream concoction making machine wasn’t even working! They gave us mini Dixie Cups. *long sigh*

So I came here this weekend, after about 15 years, and it looks the same. Clearly it is in some creepy time warp where corn fritters are king! The recipe hasn’t changed for any of these foods. On the weekends they have a breakfast buffet and an omelette station. This ends at 1pm, try and get a sausage link at 1:02 pm and you’ll be looking sad. This tacos are still oily as hell, but tasty! The meatballs are where its at! The ice cream some how got more watery, my ice cream cone didn’t make it back to the table. It seemed to dissolve… This place might be more about the experience than the actual meal. I got to feel like I was ten again.

This is probably the last Sizzler in the entire northern east coast, so let’s enjoy it while we can! I’ve been a Sizzler fan since I was a wee lad. The one in Rego Park was the ultimate place to celebrate birthdays, graduations, holy communions, dates, etc. The chain is a bit nostalgic for me, even though the Rego Park location closed a couple of years ago. It was our own middle class steakhouse, before the likes of Friday’s and Applebee’s. With that said, the Forest Hills location is pretty good. The buffet, while lacking in overall choices, is its best part. You can’t go wrong with chicken wings and corn fritters. For the health-conscious, the soups and salads are good enough. And I really like the way the ice cream machine churns out; it’s my favorite consistency. The menu: go with sandwiches or anything chicken. Don’t expect the steaks to be Peter Luger’s, and you’ll be fine. The best part of any meal off the menu is the toast. You must have the toast. Overall, a great nostalgic feel to the Sizzler chain itself. You want to go back once in a while to feel like a kid again.

Sizzler is a perfect example of setting reasonable expectations and not being disappointed. It’s a grease pit in Queens where you can go and spend low double digits for steak and shrimp. Are you going to have the best meal of your life? No, probably not. Is the salad bar going to be healthy and organic? Uh uh. Somehow pretty much every surface feels like it has oil on it. But the parking lot is tight– because it is PACKED. You will see diverse families of all ages here for a modest meal. The salad bar is a meal in itself and I MAY have eaten five of those delicious, piping hot fried chicken wings. We were beckoned by a nostalgic family member with baller status who rented out the party room. And you know what? We survived, and no one got sick, which is more than I can say for some other places.
