In the very beginning when we first stated to order from Happy Chef-the food was always hot & fresh. This is the only Chinese take out we order from now. The food is still good & we get our food in a timely fashion.

I go here at least twice a month and get their combination fried rice, spicy I may add and I amen love with their fried chicken wings, they give any wing place a run for their money, they are light flavorful and not greasy or taste half cooked like some(Buffalo wild wings) places, try them u cannot go wrong!!!

Really good food for good prices, and management is super helpful and understanding! I recently ordered online and meant to get vegetable egg rolls for delivery, but accidentally clicked regular ones instead. I was disappointed when I realized the error(am strict vegetarian) and they were still willing to exchange the egg rolls for no charge even though it was my mistake! I really appreciated that and will continue to be a fan of Happy Chef. :)

Not good. At all. They messed up my order and still made me pay after waiting 25 minutes. The basil tofu had no flavor and the veggies are super big and hard to eat with a dinky plastic spoon.

Sometimes you need fancy dim sum, made with exotic, dainty vegetables and fine sauce made from professional chefs from the top culinary school in Xi’an. And sometimes you need a box of greasy Kung pao deliciousness that may or may not have possum in it. I’ve never had marsupial in my to-go box from Happy Chef, but it’s great in terms of the quality, and especially QUANTITY of food you get from this place. My group often orders the family dinner, with lo mein, fried chicken, kung pao, fried rice, and plenty of egg rolls and rangoon. Not for the fanciest of palates, but if you’re with a crowd of your friends making it through the latest episode of True Detective and you want some pot stickers while watching Colin Farrell punch people, this is the place to call in Forest Park. Oh, and they’re fast too. The HBO intro is barely done when the doorbell rings with our dinner from Happy Chef!

I have been ordering from here since they arrived at the Harlem and Roosevelt location. I think the food is flavorful and the many options are great. The price is very reasonable with good portions and the delivery is awesome. There is nothing terribly special about the place but they have all the staples I love and have never disappointed.

I’ve gone through all the Asian restaurants near me and this place is by far the best. They’re smoothies are refreshing and delicious. You can’t go wrong with any dish on their menu.

We’ve ordered from Happy Chef many times, and with each order the quality continues to go down. We ordered dinner from them last night and I can safely we’re done with them. We both bit into and spat out cold and sour tasting egg roll. Not sure if they were old or what, but definitely bitter and inedible. General Toa’s chicken was also gross. We threw everything out. I called to talk to them about this but the gentleman who answered conveniently forgot how to converse in English. It’s worth your time to source better Chinese food.

This is my little spot right here. I come here usually once a week and grab the shrimp fried rice and two eggrolls. I really like the way they make their egg rolls. It’s exactly what you would expect from a Chinese place. Are any Chinese food place is really all of that cool«spectacular»? Feature request: please add APPLEPAY support for 5 stars!

Not the greatest quality food but it wasn’t terrible. They were faster than the average Chinese restaurant. I would go a block over and order Tasty House over them any day.

Used to love this place! Food is pretty tasty. Best I’ve had in the area, until my visit a few weeks ago. I had placed an order and decided to wait in the store until it was ready. While sitting I was mindless staring into the kitchen, until I saw something disgusting. I watched one of the cooks drop a huge chunk of char siu(bbq pork, used in a ton of their dishes pork fried rice, lo mein, wonton soup, etc.) on the floor picked it up, chopped it, and put it into someones order. I was absolutely disgusted, quickly I asked for no char siu in my wonton soup and patiently waited until my food was finished. Since then I haven’t been able to order from them, simply bc I don’t know what else has fallen on the floor which could end up in my meal.

Worst Chinese food I have ever had. I don’t even think the chicken was chicken. No flavor in anything… oh and it was the most expensive Chinese food I’ve ever had. Lunch special my ass.

Interesting the word happy is in the name of this restaurant. Received horrible customer service today and to make it even worse the food was so mediocre I couldn’t even finish it. I will spend my money elsewhere next time.

I’ve tried a lot of the Asian establishments around Berwyn, Oak Park and Forest Park. Some are better than others but Happy Chef is always consistent. Service is fast, food is always good, prices great, and the portions huge. So huge I usually don’t have to go out or shop for lunch for a couple days. My favorite is their Hunan Chicken which is very tasty and has just the right heat. Also their Mongolian Beef is good as well. Asian takeout staples like sweet and sour pork and beef chow mein are good and worth a try. Their sides like egg rolls, crab rangoon and fried rices are some of the better sides in the area. Even their Chicken soup is good. Now don’t get me wrong, this is Asian takeout and not a high end culinary experience and nor should it be viewed as such. But when you get in the mood for some good Catonese American takeout and don’t want to spend a lot you should definitely check out Happy Chef.

Ordered the Crab Rangoon for the stepdaughter as well as an order for everyone else since it was so well reviewed here; have to say I was not disappointed– very cream-cheesy as well as onion and crab flavour. Also tried the Mongolian Beef which all found delicious! Meat was tender even when reheated, and not like shoe leather like I have had from some other places. The Twice Cooked Pork was again delish, as was the Shrimp Lo Mein. All delivered in about 45 mins. which what I was told when I ordered– not bad for a Friday night. Not a bad dish yet :)

Let’s be real people: almost all Chinese places are the same. I don’t get in a tither if the food is a little off once in a while… it’s a fast Chinese joint. Don’t have such high expectations. Personally, I do like Happy Chef. Walking distance from my house and their food is consistantly good. Friendly people working there and very good English speakers. Basically, their crab ragoon and egg rolls are amazing. Mushroom fried rice? Delicious. But if you’re looking for some perfect presentation and tasting Chinese food, go to an actual sit down restaurant. These guys are for curbing your quick taste for Chinese food and large portions.

It really boggles my mind that I have never written a review for this place as I am a delivery regular. I order delivery from here about twice a week and it’s a terrible addiction. I’ll tell you the items I love: SESAMECHICKENDINNER(Yes caps are very necessary) orange chicken, sweet and sour chicken, sweet and sour shrimp and SHRIMPFRIEDRICE(again very necessary). The sesame chicken is done the right way to where the chicken is covered in sauce that is a reddish-brown with sesame seeds all over. The shrimp fried rice is a favorite as well, they do not skimp on the small shrimps and the rice is very fried and a bit greasy just the way I like it. Is this fine dining Chinese? No but I also do not believe that Chinese food should be done that way. The portions are huge and VERY affordable but the best part about them is they are FAST. Mon-thurs and Sun my food arrives within 30 – 40 minutes MAX. Add a possible 10 minutes for weekends.
