Seriously Izzy’s? I am from Maryland and I usually come to Izzy’s when in the tri-state area visiting my mom… not anymore. No sauerkraut or sauce on the skimpy roast beef sandwich, AND the potato pancake was burnt. Try again… so disappointed as this is not what I remember! *mad*

I had never eaten here before yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was clean, the staff friendly and helpful, and most importantly the food was absolutely delicious. I had a cod sandwich, with a potato pancake. The fish tasted fresh, and the potato pancake was perfect. I will definitely return often.

A Cincy staple — lots of great sandwich options, made to order with what seems like very good ingredients. We’ve had turkey, pastrami and roast beef, all very yummy. Also — the pickles are great! You can also buy them at jungle Jim’s.

If I had to pick the place based on service… I’d give 5 stars. The service is always great. The food. not so much. It has changed over the years and I feel like Arby’s is about the same on overall Reuben. Which is not a compliment. I can say that the sweet tea reminds you of a hot summer day in Savannah!

Always friendly service!!! The Reuben is delicious and my husband always doubles his order on the potato cakes. The pickles they serve are crisp and delicious! Overall if you want a good deli sandwich you can’t go wrong here. They do have geotta if you’re a fan.

I found this place by accident driving by and I had the Reuben and it was really good and meaty. Service was great and speedy. The only reason I did not give five stars was the potato pancake, which I was not a fan of.

Turkey Reuben was tasty! I tried to stay semi healthy. I recommend a corned beef reuben if you want to go all out. I went off Unilocal reviews as I drove by this place. It was easy to walk up to counter and order for take out. It took maybe 8 minutes. You can also sit in and eat.

Izzys is a great sandwich shop. Most people go for the Reuben sandwiches. I’m not a fan of this type but there are many others to chose from. My favorite is the Tommy. Who can ever pas up the potato pancakes. They are a little in the greasy side. They are bigger than your hand and with a little ketchup mmmm… For kids they have little cakes that are just right for little hands. I love dill pickles and so does my little girl. We love that they bring you your own little container of pickles and tongs to indulge on as many as you like. I have always had friendly service at this location. Very nice and clean. Bathrooms have always been very clean also.

I got the Goetta Reuben … FABULOUS!!! Served with a large potato pancake, everything was cooked perfectly. Container of pickles on the table is a great touch. Tasty, friendly staff and good value. Will return!

I love food, so I rarely have anything bad to say. However, this is one of the worst experiences I have ever had eating out. I really wanted to like this place, since it’s one of the few things that isn’t McDonald’s or Wendy’s near my new location. It starts off with some great pickles, actually, so I was expecting good things. Then it went downhill. We’d never been there before, so we asked for a second to look the menu over. That was the last time we could get the server’s attention for the next 20 minutes while she avoided our table and started confrontations. Literally, confrontations. It felt like she was trying to pick a fight with the table next to ours and was so loud the entire place could hear it. That table, actually, was seated after us, and managed to get their food, eat, and pay their bill before we could get our drinks and it wasn’t from a lack of trying on my part. She wouldn’t get near our table because of the conflict with the other table. I eventually made eye contact with the manager and shrugged and he got the hint. She also made things incredibly awkward when she realized she neglected our table. I can’t describe how bad everything was. The other server eventually had to take care of us and apologized on her behalf. I don’t even think that was an off day for her, just status quo. The food was alright. I enjoyed the Reuben, but I have had much better. The potato pancake on the side was good, yet too greasy for my tastes(and I’m usually ok with grease). I think Izzy’s has some great things going for it and the right server can be a world of difference, but that was my one chance and the first impression is so bad we swore it off permanently. If you try it, I hope you have better luck than I did.

The reason for two stars is the reuben was good and server was friendly. Was still hard to give the two stars though. Visiting the area from Columbus, came to cinci to see family and brought our son to go to winton woods… figured why not try Izzys deli for lunch, right on the way. Experience was mixed. Our server, while friendly, seemed to be really the only one working, most were sitting around doing nothing. I got a reuben no bread(ordered no bread) and cole slaw, reuben was good… except when the server saw it on the line, told the cook to melt the cheese on it, then took it himself and popped it in the microwave to melt the cheese. The slaw tasted like potato salad dressing with cabbage, not cole slaw. My husband got the daily special, broc cheese soup, salami/swiss & potato pancake. Server came with the soup first asked him to see if it was hot enough or if it needed microwaved longer… microwaved longer? His exact words. Soup was warm, dealt with soup. Salami sandwich, bad, and the potato pancake… cold, overcooked and could tell it had been sitting out for a while. I repeat, cold. Told the server, he said oh ill fix that, went and brought right out two fresh and hot ones. FRESH&HOT, where were those ones? So if this is the standards at Izzy’s Deli, we will not go back at all, and it wasnt surprising that there was only one other person dining inside at the time and didnt seem impressed either.

Stopped by for dinner. Didn’t want heavy processed meat, so I had the Cod Reuben instead that came with a large Latke cake. Good comfort food.

Izzy’s is a Cincinnati staple. Their reubens are well known and creative. This particular trip I had an egg salad Reuben which did not disappoint. I’ve also had their Goetta(get-ah) reuben(Goetta is another Cincinnati specialty) and their pastrami reuben. With any sandwich you get a giant potato pancake. Beware, they’re greasy… but so so so good with the German mustard. Also served with everything are their garlic pickles. Totally worth the price of entry. If you’ve not checked out Izzy’s… do it.

Trying to find something other than fast food I stumbled upon this place(thanks Unilocal). Very good. The food is hot, fresh, and the potato pancake is out of this world. I order the combo(which is 2 meats) and get it on a pretzel bun. The pretzel bun really is the key here.

Izzy’s is a place that I can expect a great tasting meal time after time. Staff are friendly and do a great job. I usually get a corned beef and potato cake, my wife gets a Rubin and potato cake, and we both get a Dr. Brown’s black cherry soda in diet. MMMMM goood. Oh and the pickles are tasty too.

Another Cincinnati staple, Izzy’s is a must if you’re a deli sandwich lover either living in or visiting the area. A great place for those of us in the Forest Park/Tri-County/Fairfield area — they also not only have great weekday and Saturday hours, but also are open Sundays(most area locations are not). I always come back to the Reuben, though I’ve been known to try the other specialties. Their Reubens come with a potato pancake and thousand island dressing(which i love to dip my potato pancake into!). The pickles are the best, especially when you’re dining in. It’s a little pricey for lunch, but not a bad option looking for an affordable, relatively quick dinner in the area.

Izzy’s just celebrated its 100 year anniversary as a restaurant established all over Cincinnati and its longevity is well deserved. Izzy’s is a restaurant with a deli feel and its specialty is its array of sandwiches and especially its Reuben. The sandwiches are generous and there is no whiff of health awareness to be found, which can be a good or bad thing depending on who you are. The sandwich is then coupled with their other specialty, a big, greasy, delicious potato pancake. The pancake is crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Oh man it’s good. You can then douse the potato pancake in a ranch powder that might need to be classed as a sub-specialty. It gives it a great test. My favorite specialty, though, is the containers sitting on the tables that are filled to the brim with Izzy’s signature pickles. As a huge fan of pickles I love being able to reach into there and take out as many as I like. The service isn’t always the best but the reason being is that it’s usually pretty busy, and who can fault them? A genuinely unique dining experience that is built around signature dishes, Izzy’s is worth visiting.
