Downtown Ace Hardware

This might be a weird thing to say but, I love this hard wear store. Every Time I’m in Fort Collins I come here. If I’m not looking for anything specific, I just like to browse. They have really fun gifts. Great stuff for your house and wine. And really cool Colorado specific items. Today, I got new copper mugs for my Moscow Mule’s!
Also, every single employee is so pleasant. It seems like they actually like their jobs. And they’re always willing to help. As an extra bonus, they serve have free popcorn!
Love this place.

I have been into this Ace a few times, sometimes with success and sometimes not. However, on this particular occasion I was assisted by two very helpful employees (Doug and James) that worked with us for nearly two hours to help complete a project we had been working on for a long time. They were helpful, knowledgeable, and kept our budget in mind the whole time. I’ll definitely be returning in the future.

Great customer service! Every time my boyfriend and I have gone in, they really go the extra mile to give us the best experience. They also carry most of the obscure tools my boyfriend always needs for projects.
Also, they have a great return policy. We were able to return something without having a receipt because they were able to look up our purchase in their system. Very convenient!

How does a hardware store get 4 stars you ask?! By having everything you need and super friendly staff! This place isn’t your grand-dad’s hardware store, or maybe it is. Well anyways, it has everything I swear. Need a coffee maker, they have it, a fan, tools, chinaware, a new hat, yup they have it. Seriously, I’ve never been to a hardware store like this one! If I need something for my house, this will be the first place I check cause they will probably have it, and the staff will be friendly enough to drop what their doing and help!

Where else can you get a cookie jar or any other kitchen need and plumbing supplies and vintage army containers and free popcorn? Only at this wonderful family owned store.
They are all very helpful and knowledgable. A huge plus in my book.
And you can be in and out in a flash. There’s extra parking in the back and a rear entrance.

Today my wife and I drove up from Boulder to walk around and Holiday shop. We stopped in to see their Christmas elements in the window. The display is just to the left if the door. We were in for 20 seconds (if that). We didn’t see anything we wanted and left. Their door alarm went off, and the Manager (Michael) came running out and flagged us down. He was concerned that I had taken something and asked me to follow him back into the store. How embarrassing! Right in front of the store I’m being accused of stealing. This kid had no idea what he was doing. I told him I took nothing, yet he insisted, and called the police when I refused to come inside with him. We entered the store and his employees surrounded my wife and I. They detained us by the front door while an employee blocked the exit. Just appalled by their behavior I video recorded them. I asked for the owners name to complain and he refused. Finally I unbuttoned my shirt. (To show him he was wrong and he was falsely accusing me of stealing) and walked again through their sensor machine. Of course it did not go off. I’m upset and my wife is beside herself. Finally the manager got the owners name, Sarah Downing. I’m calling her Monday. Pretty sad when kids who aren’t trained to deal with situations are left in charge. I was harassed and embarrassed. Don’t support this behavior.

Epic customer service. Friendly helpful staff always glad to see me. Makes me feel like I’m in a small town. Staff carry dog treats. Our dogs love to come in and the staff are happy to see the dogs. Sometimes I just go in to wonder around I like it so much.

Bought a composter from these guys this past summer. It totally fell apart. We brought in a picture of how it looked in our yard along with its remains and they gave us a full refund!!! Yay!!!

Polite and Engaging Staff. No Nonsense take you straight to what you request. Make sure it is what you want, see if there is anything else and move on! Just right in my book. They had the odd part I needed, I bought it and move on! I would go back for sure!

Ace is the Helpful Place. This trademark slogan holds up at the downtown Fort Collins Ace Hardware. Every time I have gone in there I have not only found what I needed but got a handful of useful tips as well. Most everyone has been helpful if not a bit annoyingly friendly. Their home section has great nick-​knack gifts that have been perfect presents for Mom/​Dad/​Grandma. I have used their key counter often and I have yet to have a dud key made (better than other Ace’s I have been to).
One complaint I have is their flower selection over this summer, I went in a couple times to try and find potted flowers for friends and most of the selection was pretty wilted or smashed. Overall not a big deal, I went to the home section and got some other cutesie gift instead.
Downstairs is the patio store and if you go at the right time of the year you can snag some pretty good deals.
Overall a convenient store with a lot of helpful people who are more than willing to provide 10 answers for 1 question.

This is the bee’s knees of harware stores. The workers always seem excited to help customers. If the worker you’re with doesn’t know the answer to a question they are all connected by headset to one another.
The store is smaller than a megabox store, mostly because it doesn’t carry the extras (lumber, appliances, fixtures, etc…) but the store does have everything you’ll need to fix a basic problem.
The store gets extra credit in my opinion beacause if they don’t have an item, they’ll refer you to a competitor that does.

This Ace seems to have it all! They have your basic stuff that hardware stores have but they also have a very nice home décor section too! Downstairs there is furniture everywhere that you can buy! Definitely the best Ace that I have been to! you can just browse around here forever! The staff is also very friendly and eager to help which makes this place a great pleasure to go to!
