Disappointed. Overpriced for the portions. Wouldn’t add any additional items to order. The food was not worth the price. Not worth your time, go to Suehiro if you’re craving sushi and live in south foco. #thumbsdown

Called early on a Saturday evening for a «to go» order, they said they were too busy! Come on folks, this is an establishment that isn’t very big, and they must be able to plan for take-out orders as well as eat-in customers. That’s their business after all. Step it up and make it happen. Big disappointment.

Tonight was my second visit to Nimo’s and I just had to write my first ever review of anything. Wow! What an experience! Let me first start by saying that the place is on the cozy side… and I love it that way! Personalized attention, rapid service, and very friendly people. Never once did my water glass get less than halfway empty. Never once did I feel like I had to wave anyone down. I sat at the sushi bar feeling completely comfortable… listening to classic soft rock music(Beatles, CCC, Paul Anka). The waitress brought over a tray of about 50 sake glasses and asked me to choose the one I wanted to use. Wow factor! Then came the hot towel for my hands. It smelled of a lemongrass that made my mouth water as I used it. That’s never happened to me before and I’ve eaten at a LOT of sushi bars in my life. Then, other patrons started to come in… and the staff knew them by name! Yep, you’ll get to feel like you’re with family if you become a regular there. Oh, almost forgot to mention Nimo. What a great guy! We talked about fly-fishing and shared a few favorite spots while he worked the counter. Ok, now that I’ve addressed the awesome people there, let me talk about the food. MMMM Mmmm mmmmmm!!! The red snapper was so perfectly fresh, it practically fell apart in my mouth. The bonita was served with a little sprig of something on top that made the flavor really pop! Then came the unagi(I judge a place by their unagi). Served hot, with just the perfect amount of eel sauce! Again, wow! Most all other places it is cool and slimy… but not at Nimo’s…simply perfect! I’ve been to all of the other Fort Collins sushi joints and many others around the country, but will never need to go anywhere else again. Nimo’s is it for me. Bar none the best service, the best atmosphere, and the best food! If you haven’t been there, you absolutely must. Like I said, it is on the cozy side, so if you’re planning on going during the busy hours… be smart and make reservations ahead of time. There is a reason this place is so popular, so don’t come whining on Unilocal if you show up at dinner hour with a large party and haven’t made reservations. Expect a wait like most rational patrons. Thank you Nimo and thank you Nimo’s staff for a wonderful dining experience! I will definitely be back!

This place was recommended to me by a friend. My husband and I decided to give it a try. I normally rate a Japanese restaurant by their Chirashi, this was no exception. I was really disappointed. The fish was fresh and good but the rice, was not fully cooked and in a Chirashi dish… it is all about the rice and it’s seasoning. It was non a traditional Chirashi dish. And it was really expensive. We will not be going back. The restaurant was nice, staff friendly and attentive. Miso soup was cool not hot. This place does not get my vote.

Old rice, not great fish, too expensive for the amount of food served and the poor quality of the materials, and the staff and chef were not that friendly, I have eaten in sushi bars all over the world for almost 50 years now and was not impressed and did not enjoy the meal.

The restaurant looks nice when you first walk in, it’s a little small but that’s not really a problem(I would recommend making reservations though). As far as the food goes, it’s pretty good. Very traditional. A shorter menu brings simplicity to the place. When I asked for lemon and ponzu on my salmon sushi, I was told they didn’t do custom orders. And when I ordered miso soup, I asked for a spoon and was in turn told that’s it’s tradition to drink from the bowl. I guess what I’m getting at is that tradition came over customer satisfaction. Prices were a little higher than expected but I guess that’s the cost of quality seafood in Colorado. In the end, my girlfriend and I were pretty pleased with the over-all experience. We might come back.

The restaurant was nice. It was well decorated and clean. The restaurant is small, so it’s probably not great for large groups. The food was good. The wait was good. We didn’t wait long for a table. The portions are smaller than most sushi places, but the variety was good and the customer service was excellent.

If your preference in sushi includes favored mayonnaise and cream cheese, then Nimo’s is not for you. However, if fresh fish, expertly prepared and served with premium Japanese sake sounds good to you, then this is the place to go. I’ve enjoyed sushi from San Diego to New York and in Japan, Thailand, Singapore and many other countries, but I always look forward to coming back to Nimo’s.

The food was great, pretty authentic Japanese food. Fish was very fresh and yummy. Combo dinner is a good choice if you want to try different things. Plus, service was great

Best sushi in Fort Collins and many other cities. I have traveled to Japan a lot on business and lived in the Bay Area 23 years so I learned a little about sushi. People who complain about the portion size never have much experience with great sushi and how it is prepared. It took me several years before I discovered Nimo and I suffered going to the other places. The reason it took me so long to discover him was his old address was further from my home — but now the new location is perfect. Nimo keeps me from having to drive to Denver to get good food. A real gem to have in this great town.

I had the sashimi lunch plate which was delicious, but a little small since they only offer a couple of options for lunch. Also ordered the Nimo roll which was excellent. Service was fantastic. Will definitely be back.

We have struggled to find excellent sushi in Fort Collins after moving here from Denver. Our search is over, this place was awesome! Food & service were superb!

The staff is very friendly, and the place is clean. At first I was disappointed and surprised by how small the portions were… the sushi slices were about a 1⁄3 smaller than you would normally get, and I got six pieces of roll instead of eight. But the flavor of the salmon skin roll was fantastic!!! I could have happily eaten two more just like it.

Best sushi in Fort Collins by a good margin. Nimo gets his fish flown in fresh almost daily, and his skill and the quality of his ingredients shows in every bite. Yes, it costs a bit more than other sushi places in town, but I’d rather eat here once than at another sushi place twice(even though it’s not that expensive). Definitely try the«Nimo Style Sashimi» sea bass, along with Spanish mackerel(when available). Can’t go wrong with his spicy rolls, the mix he creates is superb. All in all, this hidden gem has become our only sushi destination in town after years of trying the rest.

First impression was not a good one, I have been in bait shops that smell better but I decided to try them as I was craving sushi. How bad could it be right? When asked for take out(as listed A-Ok on their profile) a cranky little lady told me «No take out»!! Seriously? No take out for a sushi place! Kind of hard to imagine as I would bet that would add 25%- 50% to their business. All but one table was open, not good for a Saturday night. But on second thought, maybe they did me a favor considering the other reviews and smell in the joint. Pass on Nimo’s.

Visiting Fort Collins and was really hungry for sushi. Nimo’s was the closest place, so I called in a to go order for a spicy tuna roll, snow crab roll and seaweed salad. Positives: Super friendly waitstaff! Seaweed salad was delicious! Negatives: Neither of my rolls were even passably good. Both had a flavor that I equate with out of date fish. I really tried to eat them, but ended up leaving 2⁄3 of each roll in the container. Maybe I just hit them on a bad day, but I’ll be looking for another sushi place on my next visit.

I hesitated to put a review up because I don’t want too many people to know how good this place really is. The fish is super-fresh and high quality. We usually drive down to Denver(Sushi Den or Sushi Sasa) for quality sushi and since trying Nimo’s, that is unnecessary. The rolls are traditional and on the small side which is my only complaint. The restaurant is tiny(maybe 8 small tables) so a reservation is highly recommended. If you have a discerning sushi palate and know your fish, this is THE place in Fort Collins.

I used to roll sushi in Nor. Cal, and this place is the best that I’ve been to in . The couple that own this place create and serve the food here. So it definitely has that warm welcoming feeling when you come in. When you order hot sake, you get to pick your own sake cup… which always makes me smile and feel special. The owner buys all the sakes glasses from Japan. I would describe the décor as clean, warm and simple. The place only has about 8 or 9 tables and a sushi bar with seating for about 12 or 13 people… so make a reservation if coming in for dinner. I haven’t ever been here for lunch but are open for select hours for lunch during the week. My favorites here are: Kurodai Nigiri(sea bream), Sake Kama(salmon collar), and their hot green tea. I know it sounds weird to be a fan of the hot tea BUT the owner buys good quality loose tea’s and blends them herself. Tastes like heaven… come for a lovely cup o’ tea if for nothing else.

I just had to add that they had A5(highest rating possible) Waygu beef flown in from Japan and were making doing nigiri with it! OMFG I dropped 75 $ on 6 pieces and would have ordered more if they hadn’t run out… truly the best meat of any kind I’ve ever had.

Came here alone for lunch one day and it was decent. Not the freshest or best tasting fish, but good enough. The spider roll was pretty bland and uninspired, but for $ 6 what can you expect. The prices are high. A lunch with a seaweed salad(it will feed two) and just water came to $ 41, which I think is on par with dinner prices. The staff was very nice and had good energy. They close between 2pm and 5pm for some reason and I was infringing on that timeline so I had to rush my meal which was a little annoying. I’ll never understand why restaurants close their doors for those hours. Labor costs are dirt cheap still.
