Super friendly staff! How refreshing to have great service. The place was clean and the order came out right away. It was my first time to a Taco John’s but my husband has been to many. We were equally impressed. Now, since it’s a restaurant, I suppose I should review the food! It’s not exactly what you might call authentic Mexican cuisine but if you had a stressful week and you want something a little guilty and comforting, a big bowl of tater tots, cheese and meet is the perfect accompaniment to a Saturday afternoon movie marathon at home in pjs.

Considering it is fast food I am very content. The tacos were sort of skimpy but the tots are very good and so is the churro.

Today we stopped at a place called Taco John’s before we headed out of Fort Collins, CO. I wasn’t expecting much more than another Taco Bell like restaurant but I was completely wrong. I loved this place and their food that they label as West-Mex food. First I’d like to note Colorado’s obsession with nacho cheese. Every place I went seemed to have a nacho cheese dispenser. I’m not complaining, mind you, I’m just making an observation… I’ve made it a rule… nay…my credo to accept nacho cheese whenever it’s offered. So you can imagine my excitement when I ordered my potato burrito and beef taco, that comes with a side of what appear to be the mini hash brown bites that Burger King sells, and the guy asks me if I’d like a side of nacho cheese with it. Ummmm… Hell YES I do! The food was actually amazing and everything is made fresh as opposed to Taco Bell. We even ordered 2 churros for dessert and they were amazing too. My son said it didn’t even need chocolate sauce. Overall I have to give them a 5 and I hope they open one of these up in Michigan someday.

We asked for hot sauce and didn’t get any. Then waited for ten minutes in the drive through for someone to come back since the windows was shut abruptly. The napkins were soiled onto of the potato oles. I had to call the store to ask for someone to give us hot sauce while we waited in the drive through. Horrible experience.

Oh I suppose Taco John’s is ok for fast food. A long ways down on the authentic scale though! This location isn’t too bad. One of the closest restaurants that I live by actually! The place is always clean and everyone very nice the handful of times that I have been in here. The roads are kind of funky on how to get in here. The roads are ‘more or less’ direct to the place but not as direct as it could be… which may be an issue for some. It was for me I have to admit. I usually get the tacos or maybe a burrito here but what is up with the tater tots that come with the meal? lol! Not so very Mexican but so very much Taco Johns!
