Decent at Best. Portion wise they’re pretty generous, but on the taste side of the house, the beef was a bit too salty possibly over-seasoned for me. The tzatziki sauce was tasty but had a strong flavor sour cream instead the normal neutral flavor of greek yogurt. Service: Very Friendly. Would I come back next time I’m on Fort Hood? Hmm, maybe. As far as finding another place with Doner Kebabs… I think this may be the only place on Fort Hood. Although I could be wrong considering I’m not native to the area.

This place ain’t half bad. Very casual atmosphere. Hubs and I have eaten here many times while we lived on post and it was down the street. I’ve never had an authentic doner kebab so I can’t compare it, but what I’ve had here is good. All portions look generous. I’ve had the beef pita which is good. The tzaziki sauce is really good, I always ask for extra sauce on the side. The fries are good here too. My husband gets the kebab plate with rice and they are always generous with the rice. The hummus is good. Get extra pita to go with it. The baklava is just ok, I’ve had better. Be forewarned about going after rush hours though. When they run out of meats and other items like pitas and rice they do not replenish them so you end up wasting a trip if you had your heart set on a certain item. It’s happened to my husband and I many times after about 3pm. Maybe it changed after the new Café Baklava management stepped in. I’m not sure since I don’t eat there as much since we bought our house off post. But I’d still eat here and would encourage others to give it a try as well.

Ate here today, I want to say this place isn’t so bad but also didn’t live up to the hype. I fell in love with kebabs while being stationed in Korea and these don’t come close. Overall I give it 3⁄5 I tried it on pita bread today and it wasn’t

Pretty good doners but the cost is ridiculous an the staff can be unfriendly at times. I’m definitely a repeat customer though when I got a doner craving. An they got some bomb ziki ziki sauce.

We had a decent meal experience here. The staff gave us prompt service and executed the order correctly. The price is reasonable given that the portions are quite generous. The doner kebab sandwiches are filling and are what you make of it depending on the toppings and sauce that you select. I was slightly disappointed with the falafel wrap. The falafel was bland and had a slight metallic taste. My family enjoyed the fries which were of the thicker-cut variety. We definitely had better baklava elsewhere, this one was mainly dough sheets with a minimal amount of filling and was very syrupy. Other than that, it was okay. Great place to come for doner kebab sandwiches if you are on base.

Wow what a nice surprise! Hidden across the street from the food court(in the clothing sales mini mall) this unassuming restaurant hit the spot for lunch. The staff was helpful and pleasant, the menu is graphically displayed, the portions were large, and the food was prepared and presented quickly(to order). I had the diner wrap(beef) and the meat was tasty, the veggies were fresh and both the taziki and hot sauces were flavorful. Ice tea and coke soft drinks available to your liking. The hummus was fresh and the pita was warm and spongy(some people like them hard, I do not). I took the baklava to go, I was too stuffed to eat it immediately. I did not give 5 stars because others in my party found that not all menu items were available but they still had plenty to choose from and liked what they ordered. A return visit is definitely in order.

The best«DONER» I have tasted since I have been back in the states. Their Doner’s are the closest to Germany I have ran into… They even use the FETA cheese… Have ate here about 3x now. Keep going back whenever I get a taste for a doner. –Thanks

For anyone who’s ever had a REAL Kebab or Kebap this place is garbage, that is unless you like dry tasteless meat, tomatoes that have say out too long and are too soft. This place really is bad! Only thing that was good there was the soda from the machine.

Good lunch joint. I usually get the wrap though because they don’t put enough meat on the normal bread

Was rather busy when we walked in at lunch time. It took about 10 minutes for them to get us our food. Not horrible but not impressive either. I did their trademark donor kabab. The meat was over cooked and almost dry. The«pita» that the sandwich came on was hard like it had been heated in a microwave. I would go to the massive food court of chain restaurants only a 100 yards away before I went back here.

Best food I’ve ever had on an Army base… which isn’t saying much. The lines were long but they got through it fairly quickly. I had the beef kebap. It was tasty, but would have liked it served on a flatbread or a pita.

Fast service. a few greasy meat selections to choose from that you can have in a wrap, pita or roll. You get to pick what goes in your wrap/pita(cabbage, corn, jalepenos, lettuce, onion, tomato, feta, tzatziki, cucumbers, etc). Fries are standard pre-frozen variety. Never experienced the stale bread another reviewer mentioned. Massive portions. You can probably can satisfy your daily caloric requirement in one meal there, so plan on sharing, bringing half home, or just buying bigger pants.

My husband recommended this place to me after he came here for lunch. I never heard of a doner kebab so I had to google it to find out what it was and how it looked like. I ordered the chicken doner kebab and my husband ordered the beef doner kebab combo meal. The food was delicious. I loaded my doner kebab with lettuce, tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, shredded carrots and a ranch-like sauce. The first few bites were all vegetables until I got more into the doner kebab than I tasted the chicken. By the end of the food, I felt like I was eating meat and bread. The sauce they put on it completes this meal. I had a lot of sauce on the doner kebab and I could taste the sauce in each bite. It was so mouth watering delicious! The combo meal included french fries and a drink. I loved their simple not fancy french fries. They had a decent fountain drink selection however most of the choices were not available. We spend around $ 11 for everything and we left super full and completely satisfied! I will definitely come back again in the future.

I was very excited when I saw Fort Hood had a doner shop. I was stationed in Germany and I have been to Australia, both places have excellent Turkish communities with great doner, however this place is lacking, they trend to pile everything in the front so you eat mostly topping and then mostly meat which is annoying, also their bread is very thick and usually stale :(

It has been a few years since having a Doner Kebab and I have missed them. Selim’s hit the spot, the Doner Kebabs are as close as you can get to the real thing in this area. You can get either shaved beef or chicken on a doner roll or on a pita, plenty of fresh toppings to include feta cheese and tzaziki sauce! The only authentic topping that is missing is the red cabbage. Worth a visit for lunch.

Selim’s offers a small menu, but it is one tasty small menu indeed. The service is fast. The place is clean. Prices are way beyond reasonable. The doner kebap plate has 2 pieces of pita bread, a mountain of shaved meat and your choice of toppings along with fries. They have a sandwich combo which is basically the same thing nestled between a crusty fluffy massive roll. The toppings are a little unusual… by unusual I don’t mean«ethnic unusual» I mean random american toppings. They have a window with inserts similar to Subway or blimpies and you can choose from corn, pickled jalapenos, black olives, shredded cheese, diced onions, tomatoes, and a few other things. They do have the classics like cucumber, feta and tzaziki sauce. And the other toppings aren’t bad, don’t get me wrong and they pile everything you want on there. They don’t skimp on anything here. Fries are of course the frozen bulk bags but they season them well. They have dolmas(stuffed grape leaves) and baklava(layers of phyllo dough with nuts and honey) which I still must return to try!

I really like Selim’s. The menu is pretty basic as far as Turkish food goes, but it’s just a café not a full restaurant, but it’s really tasty. Doner kebap is shaved roasted meat, similar to gyro or shwarma. There’s a yogurt sauce for the meat, very similar to tzaziki sauce you get on gyros, but it’s optional, some people don’t like it. They also have dolmas, baklava, and several other items on the menu. Pricing is reasonable & they have combos as well as a la carte. If you’ve never had Turkish food definitely go try it out. My fave is a doner wrap with cheese, I get feta cheese. I do wish they had a regular restaurant in town, it’d be nice to have somewhere different to eat at without going on post for café type food.
