Decent place but feels a bit like a chain restaurant. Arrived on a Tuesday at 6:30 without a wait which was nice since a lot of reviews complained of wait times. I will say that the garlic rolls lived up to the hype. Very yummy, especially if you love garlic like my boyfriend and I. For our main dishes we had eggplant Parmesan and chicken Parmesan. I thought mine, the eggplant, was really tasty. I’m a big fan of when restaurants slice the eggplant very thin and this place did just that. My boyfriend seemed pleased but unimpressed, he on the other hand likes when the chicken cutlet is on the thicker side so he didn’t like how thin it was. Oh well, can’t please everybody! The reason I give it a 3 and not a 4 is that the food was good but it didn’t feel like everything was fresh(could be I had that sense since the waitress kept telling my dairy allergic sister that she couldn’t order certain chicken dishes without the sauce because«they’re already in the sauce, uhhhh gross). Overall, decent place and would eat here again if in the area and looking for some eggplant parm.

The food was good, the service was good, nice place, smells good, Il Munio doesn’t have that cheesy smell Olive Garden or Carrabas have. Cally our waiter seemed to know their food very well, like the ingredients. She was really helpful when I asked if there was anything on the menu with no animal products or sugar added. Usually at restaurants there isn’t food for me with my diet, I have to eat plain salad with plain potatoes or rice, so my expectations were low. Cally recommended veggie pizza with no cheese and the dough has no butter, milk or eggs in it, so it was perfect and delicious ! My husband had mash room and sausage rigatoni, my mom had fish of the day with linguini in lemon and butter sauce. Everyone was happy with their food. My pizza was $ 12.99 which I think is very good! The rest of the food was close to $ 20 or under. I would definitely come back again.

5⁄10. Mediocre food, mostly carefully prepared, with pleasant, but dilettante service at prices that won’t break the bank. # The Review We wanted to try a local place, so we looked at the ratings on Unilocal and decided to give Il Mulino a try. There was a little confusion at our arrival. The hostess took us to a very warm table in the afternoon sun – apparently some people like to sweat while eating, but we said something and the hostess took us to another table – no problem. Our server, although very friendly, wasn’t very attentive and didn’t manage to get our simple beverage order right. It was initially a struggle to keep our water glasses filled, but eventually she got the hint and came back more often. I’d say our server was well-intentioned, but not very experienced. We spent some time going through the menu and comparing it to photos on Unilocal. We decided to order a starter and finish it before ordering mains. We got the antipasti, which was really just a couple of slices each of ham, salami, mozzarella and tomato on some iceberg lettuce. It was ok, but nothing I couldn’t have scrounged from the fridge at home. The garlic knots, which you apparently have to ask for expressly, were nice and kept our stomachs from grumbling too much while we waited for our food. The house salad that came with my main course was really simple and really good. My main, the baked penne, was supposed to come with a marinara sauce. I thought it would be good considering I like bright flavours, but it was a disappointment. The sauce either started out as a pink sauce(not marinara) or had devolved into one in the oven. The cheese on top was nicely melted and the penne were cooked well, but the dish was large and very monotonous thanks to that sauce. I would try one of the many other Italian places downtown before returning here.

Wonderful restaurant. A great find. Stopped in before a show at the Parker Playhouse, wish I wasn’t in such a rush.

This is by far me and my dad’s favorite restaurant! We make the drive from West palm beach atleast once a month, the chicken anelli and the eggplant parm are some of the best we have ever had, and we are tough on Italian chefs!

I love the place, and the food is great and the really big portions which I love. But the only thing that bothered me about this establishment is that they are so used to an older crowd that they really don’t know how to handle a younger crowd therefore they’re not as kind to younger folks as they are too old folks which is highly disappointing because we pay and tip as well. Other than that I loved everything about it.

Let me start by saying for me, 3 stars means«good, and I’d go back.» This evening I had the minestrone to start. It’s a bowl, a sizable portion, hearty and flavorful. My one criticism is it wasn’t as hot as soup should be. I also had the lasagne, which also was good and hearty. As lasagnes go, it was essentially layered lasagne pasta with meat sauce in between, with very little ricotta layers as part of the dish. The sauce – like the sauces at too many Italian restaurants these days – was very sweet. I’m sure that’s what makes it appealing in many ways, but I’d prefer a little less sweetness and allow the full flavor of the tomatoes and meat to come thru. The garlic rolls –as others have noted– are very, very garlicky and a bit too buttery for my tastes. Is this a great restaurant? No, but it’s definitely good and worth a visit!

My husband and I have been here on many occasions. I tend to look for simple and«clean» dishes and sauces. One of my favorites is the penne contadina, home made pasta with fresh tomato, onion and cubed mozzarella. It’s always light and delicious. If you are vegetarian you’ll love it. My husband enjoys the lasagna and also the spaghetti bolognaise. Both are hearty and satisfying. Tonight I decided to try the linguini with clam sauce. I was SO happy to see the tiny«vongole», just like in Rome. My only complaint was that the dish was a bit too salty. I will be back to give it another try and will ask the kitchen to go easier on the salt. All in all I think you will enjoy Il Mulino. Buon Appetito.

It has a bustling diner feel to it with a tinge Italian cantina vibe. We came because we love our NY Il Mulino and it gave us s kick to see the same name but very different dining spot indeed. Still for all that first impression, we were pleasantly surprised. Everything is fatto in Casa and the type of food you wear your fat pants for. Service is great, the staff is friendly and hurries to get you your meal, the dishes super abundant and there is a fairly good wine and drink list, hey whassamatta, sometimes ya gotta enjoy a low key place and this is a good as any choice. A great family style spot to come to come and mangia che te fa benne! I have to say it is actually really perfect for after a movie next door at the charming Gateway Theater. Between the both of these establishments you would think you stepped back into the 1950s. Will be back and actually probably sooner than later.

Came here with a large group after seeing a film next door. Our table for ten was quickly prepared. We requested water which was brought quickly. We were first served hot garlic rolls-fresh from the oven. Then our orders were taken in an organized way. The server helped me choose the sauce I wanted for my zuppa de pesce. It was absolutely delicious: Fresh seafood and fish over linguini in a perfectly flavored tomato broth. The fish was cooked to perfection and the shellfish were prepared just right. The pasta was perfectly flavored as well. Grated parmesan, fresh ground pepper all brought to table immediately after serving the dishes. My friends ordered grilled salmon salad, minestrone soup, eggplant parmegiana and other dishes. Everyone loved their food. The prices were also fair and a good value for the amount and quality of the food. Looking forward to returning soon.

This place was delicious. I got the cheese ravioli which I ate ALL of. Just yum. The bruschetta was really traditional and tastes as well. For homemade pastas/breads the prices are really reasonable. Will be back!

Great Lunch Specials with so much to choose from. Very elegant yet casual atmosphere where you can escape the hectic 9 to 5 for a quick trip to delicious Italy. The pizza fresh from the brick oven is amazing and I’m craving more. The caesar salad is savory and on point, and the garlic rolls and so good they’re bad. I would definitely come back, and I’m craving it pretty badly right now too =P

Last night we had a going away dinner for a friend and the service was on the patchy side. Just as my boyfriend and I arrived we received a message saying dinner was going to be pushed back 30 minutes. Not a big deal except we were hungry so decided to grab an appetizer in the bar area which is a decent to small size — 3 high tables and a handful of chairs at the bar. Our waiter was pleasant but for a Tuesday night, the service was surprisingly on the slow side at this point. We were served garlic rolls and ordered the beef carpaccio with arugala. The garlic rolls were yummy with TONS of garlic and nicely golden tops. You may need to brush some of the garlic off depending on your preference but you will need to brush your teeth more than once after devouring them. The beef carpaccio looked great but was incredibly salty. I mean, I felt like I was eating a PILE of salt and I like salt. No bueno! Fast forward, our friends show up and we move to a larger table with a different waiter. A moment after being seated we are served garlic rolls and our orders are taken promptly as soon as we were ready. Pastas we ordered: fusilli naturale, potato gnocchi with pink sauce, spaghetti and meatballs and oven baked lasagna. Again, the majority of the food comes out overly salted. One friend comments on how he needs more water because of how salty his spaghetti is. My lasagna(no extra cheese) was also over salted which I didn’t realize until I ate my leftovers. Maybe my tastebuds were on overload from the appetizer. I love Italian food, so it pains me to give this place a three star rating. I can over look service most times, especially with great food; but I just can’t look past how salty some of our food was. There are so many other Italian restaurants near by that serve better food with consistent well balanced flavor.

The wait for this place on a Saturday night is extremely long. The hostess told us the wait for our party of 3 was 20 minutes but in reality it was more than 45 minutes. I don’t mind waiting for good food but this place wasn’t worth the wait. I ordered the Chicken Marsala and it was disappointing as I found it too salty. The mussels in the Pei Mussels and Calms starter were very small. But the garlic knots they served were very garlicky and crispy on the bottom. One word, delicious. I would consider coming back and ordering something different.

Il Mulino is one of those venerable old restaurants that I have have passed by thousands of times over the years. Perhaps I thought it was too stuffy, or too expensive or maybe I was just getting it confused with the stuffy, expensive NYC restaurant of the same name. For whatever reason I never thought to ACTUALLY step in the front door. Well, was I surprised! For one it’s NOT stuffy, it’s NOT expensive and three it’s pretty darn good! From the outside it looks like it could be very dark and gloomy, inside it’s actually very open and bright with a glass fronted kitchen. We decided to try it for lunch, but the dinner menu is available all day as well. In addition to the regular lunch menu there is a selection of «lunch specials» on the flip side of the menu. The menu, and our outstanding server Jennifer, made a point of mentioning that all of the sauces AND pastas are made in house. Every table is offered a choice of plain or garlic rolls, which are served warm soaked in garlic butter. The rolls were crisp and light with just the right amount of garlic. We started out lunch with the Fried Mozzarella($ 5.95). the mozzarella is served in four lightly bread wedges that have been lightly fried and are served with their housemade marinara. The sauce was full of fresh tomato flavor, with just a touch of sweetness. Incidentally, one of the garlic rolls took a dunk in the sauce and while tasty it was much better on the mozz(just a side note). My dining companion went very traditional and had the Baked Lasagna($ 10.95), while I decided to venture a little far afield and have the Fusilli Natural($ 10.95). The lasagna is very traditional, made with fresh pasta, mozzarella, meat sauce and béchamel sauce. Lasagna is deceptively simple, and many a restaurant has failed to execute this favorite well. Il Mulino’s variation uses generous amounts of mozzarella layered generously with meat sauce and just enough béchamel to hold it together. Some lasagnas are ooze with oil and grease, this one has just the right balance meat, cheese and sauce to be flavorful but not heavy. The Fusilli Natural is a little bit of an oddball dish, it has the illusion of being healthy although it really is a very rich dish. Fusilli(corkscrew) pasta served with chicken and broccoli with a balsamic reduction and goat cheese. Sounds interesting doesn’t it? Normally a balsamic reduction is used very sparingly to accent a dish, rarely do you find it the central component. Those watching their figure may be tempted to ditch the goat cheese… DON’T! It’s the goat cheese that really pulls the dish together. The dish is simply chicken veggies and pasta, tossed with the aforementioned balsamic and topped with a generous dollop of creamy goat cheese. The idea is you swirl the cheese into the pasta, making the sauce. The result is a sweet, yet sharp tangy sauce that is unusual and actually quite addictive. While we did not enjoy wine with lunch(I was being good) I would be very careful pairing a wine with this dish, lean more toward a lighter bodied off-dry white, not a red. I was being good as far as booze goes, not dessert. The dessert featured the magic word… NUTELLA. I could probably eat a shoe covered in Nutella and be perfectly happy, but since most would find that unsettling we decided to try the Nutellina($ 6).This is really just an overgrown, baked Nutella empanada served with vanilla ice cream. what’s more to say, it’s a pie stuffed with chocolate hazelnut goodness. Simple and totally and completely plate-lickable. More please! I may have taken 8 years to finally try Il Mulino, and I really regret that I didn’t stumble in here sooner. It really was a delightful experience. And once again, thank you Jennifer for making our afternoon.

All that I had expected it to be and more. I hope that the management doesn’t read my next comment, but, I wonder if they realize that they could charge more and people would still come? I had the Rigatoni Saporite, which consisted of rigatoni(obviously), spinach, olive oil, sun dried tomato and chicken. It was a perfect balance of flavors and textures. No one ingredient over-powered the next and it came together perfectly. For desert I had the Nutelina. I could not get enough of this! I almost ordered a second plate. On a side note, They do not take reservations, and were quite busy. It seemed that the bulk of the crowd left around 8PM(friday night). So I would recommend coming a little bit later.
