After reading the reviews, I was a bit apprehensive about having a meal here. As a result of attending a concert in the area and not wanting to lose my parking spot, I decided, what the heck, how bad could it be? Well, I can happily say it was a great experience! It was early and not too busy. Sat down and we were immediately greeted by a friendly bartender. I did ask for his name but for the life of me, can’t remember. I asked if they were serving food and he immediately brought us the menu. I was happy they had the seasonal Pumpkin Beer. Opted for a grilled Dolphin sandwich that came with a very generous portion of giant fries. The fish may have been cooked a hair too long but never the less, it was yummy and fresh tasting(I’m very picky). When the bill arrived, prices were very reasonable. I know that next time I’m headed to the Culture Room, my pre-concert dinner and drink will be here!

Apparently Mr. Kelly has responded to my review. Allow me to confirm that everything I said in my initial review is accurate. Mr. Kelly also sent me a private message — which I ignored, having no intentions of ever returning to his establishment — before he decided to post his public owner’s reply. His version of the story(as seen in the private message and in his public reply) is inaccurate insofar as it deviates from my version and is nevertheless a second-hand account at best. It also shows that his business sense is to attempt to buy off people who write accurate negative reviews, and then if they do not go for the bribe, he launches personal attacks against them in an owner’s reply. If this is the way the owner tends to behave, then there can be no wonder why his employees also act in such a negative way with regards to customer interaction. I’ll paste the text of his private message to me, sent a few days before his public owner’s reply. I want to reiterate in strong terms that insofar as his account deviates from mine, his account is 100% inaccurate. Additionally, pay special attention to the elements of his story that change between this private message and his public owner’s reply. Here it is: «My name is Peter Kelly and I am the owner of Kelly Brothers Irish Pub. I just read your review and would ask you to please remove it. I am more than willing to invite you back with dinner and drinks on me. Your review is bit harsh and a little unfair to me as a business owner. That was this bartenders first shift by herself and usually we close our kitchen at 11pm. She kept asking out cook to stay open a little later as we kept getting more customers from the concert at The Culture Room. The kitchen did take its last order and you did order after that. Of course food came out past last call as the cook had to finish the orders that came in. There was no special treatment to anyone. She also did in fact give you your free beer. I am not sure if you know the amount of hard work and money it takes to keep my business running and I am always working to make my place better. A review like the one you wrote can possibly hurt my business. No place is perfect, but we do always try to take care of everyone the best we can. Please take me up on my offer and please take down your review. Feel free to call me directly at(REDACTED) and I promise to make it right for you and a night on me at my place. I look forward to hearing back from you.»

I play in a band that was lucky enough to perform at Kelly’s last week. I cannot say enough about the hospitality and amazing treatment, especially from Paul the owner who was bartending upstairs that night. I would absolutely frequent this bar many times over as either patron or performer. Also, cleanest damn bathrooms these old eyes have ever seen.

I love a good dive bar and this is a good one. I honestly did not expect good food and boy was I surprised. I cannot speak for anything else on the menu other than the Philly Cheesesteak. I’ve had this sandwich in many places including Philly. However, I am going out on a limb here and saying this is the best Philly Cheesesteak I have had in a real long time Seriously I spent close to 3 hours here and the majority of food that came out was the Philly Cheesesteak The meat was tender and flavorful. A must try As far as the rest of this place, I will come back again. Michelle the bartender was awesome. Very sweet and attentive. I’ve been here when it was Wayward Sailor, and it looks the same(I heard and didn’t venture they have an upstairs VIP room for parties) Nice crowd and eventually good music. New owners but downstairs looks the same as Wayward, but there’s nothing wrong with that I will be back

Awesome night. They had great talent showcases on Thursday open nights and Paully, the owner, is so sweet. He made sure everything was ok. I will definitely be back. This is a really good chill spot. Plus the menu prices are really cheap.

Great BAR to drink Guinness and play darts! Starting a Dart league on Wednesdays, stop by to get info on joining. It’s free for players but hurry deadline is May 10th. We will play at 12 different bars that serve Guinness.

Ok, so I know this is a dive bar and all, but come on! The service was really bad, we had to leave a table and sit at the bar in order to get a drink or order food! Once we finally ordered the appetizer and meals, about 20 – 25 minutes later it all comes out together. I ordered the fish & chips. Which is listed under dinner entrees(not sandwiches), but comes on a kaiser roll with lettuce, tomato, and onion. I think they should have told me about that…

Ordered Black Velvet(Guinness + Magners) & noticed Unilocal coupon for«free domestic beer.» Magic Hat #9, please? Nope, that’s a «premium» domestic. Not even Blue Moon(premium? really?). Yuengling was free but tasted a bit weak… yikes. Brand new bartender promised to inform management that«the wording on the Unilocal coupon should be rewritten to be more specific.» Beer selection does not warrant a second visit, though.

I must live in Irish pub heaven; I’ve got Mrs. Murphy’s up the street and ’round the corner; Finnegan’s up a li’l farther north and right smack down the way in a corner full of goodies(used bookstore, restaurants, etc.) is this little slice of Éire right near Fernanda’s(which sells lots of British products). I only had their version of a French onion styled soup, which substituted Irish Soda bread and Irish Cheddar for the more traditional French loaf and emmentaler — but the results were quite the same — delicious. This is a younger crowd so if Mrs. Murphy’s is 50+ you can chalk Kelly Brother’s to be a 30somethingish crowd — and a lot more boisterous — but the kitchen has traditional pub fare that looks quite good. I love Mrs. Murphy’s for Iggy’s scrumptious kitchen concoctions; but he’s from Sardinia so you lean more toward pastas and hamburgers with a very fresh fish and chips. But sometimes you want that shepherd’s pie — and Kelly Brother’s is the place to go if you’re craving the traditional Irish pub fare.

I have been there twice and enjoyed it both times. Fun and funky décor — lots of «old Fort Lauderdale» pictures, fish stuff — mixed with«Irish» additions. The atmosphere is a bit like«Cheers» — friendly and open — very Irish in nature. The brothers who own it are from«Bawston», so is one of the bartender gals… the other is from the«Ould Sod» so it has a real«authentic» feel — «Paak yer caar in Havaad Yaaad» LOL The happy hour prices can not be beat and the food? Oh my surprising great… I had a huge«Angus» burger covered in great cheese and excellent cole slaw. Yeah… not very Irish but they do have all the typical favorites, Shepard’s pie, fish and chips. plus some other cool dishes(Irish Nachos? You know potatoes are involved haha) I saw that they offer Kareoke now — which would be fun as this is a very friendly place. As an «Irish American» I felt this has the«homey» and friendly touch of a true Irish pub, a place where everyone is a «friend you have not yet met», where the owner/s come by and make sure your order is right, where the bartender recognizes you after one visit. I will be back for more«céad míle fáilte»(Hundred Thousand Welcomes)

This is an Irish pub people. They have the best Guinness I’ve ever had in the US. The service is wonderful. The jalapeño poppers were decent, and the Cesar salad was a very generous portion. For the price, it’s great. Don’t go here for the décor, go for the amazing Irish people, and the best Guinness you can get in the US.

No parking for Kelly’s when there’s a concert at Culture. Never acknowledged when we sat down. we waited and waited and waited… Eventually had to order drinks and food from the bartend area although we were seated at a high top table. Mediocre food at best as long you’re already hungry for fried food. Irish pub with only three Irish items on the menu. We were provided with paper plates ?!! This place was former Briney and it hasn’t changed much except for non smoking. Local patrons brought in own poker table and probably receive better service than we did. major issues with redemption of the Unilocal/amazon local deals. Go with people you genuinely like so that you will have fun regardless. like we did… But this place is not some place we’re going back to. And I wouldn’t recommend it even to people I don’t like.

Very warm… they do not have good a/c. My friends and I went to check it out because they advertised on amazonlocal. Our experience was very disappointing. There are no servers so you need to go to the bar and order food and drink. There are a lot of fried food options. We had the sweet potato waffle fries, fried mahi mahi, philly cheesesteak, jalapeño poppers. Nothing was spectacular and we will not return. Parking is not available when the Culture Room next door is having a concert. They will offer for you to park at the BEst Western next door for $ 10.

prior write ups are true about décor and ambience of the place… had a guinness dark beer and ordered a shepards pie to go… it was ok, not worth the $ 12.95, to much potato’s and not enough ground beef or spice to kick it up a notch, mind you not a expert in this food but for the price $ 19.25 spent… i expected a knock out meal.

Awesome spot, interesting characters. Stopped in yesterday(3⁄16) & had to wait over a half hour for a manager to arrive to use our Unilocal deal. After Paul arrived he handled everything quickly and was apologetic. One of my new favorite spots. :)

Formerly the Wayward Sailors Pub, Kelly Brothers Irish Pub has only recently opened under new ownership. However, other than some fresh Kelly green paint on the exterior along with some Irish flags, an extra friendly but seemingly confused staff, some additional flat screens and the fact that it has now been converted from what was a heavy smoking environment into a no smoking bar, I can’t see any significant changes. The décor is as it always was with a lots of nautical and fishing memorabilia literally dripping form the ceilings, plastered about the walls and covering every conceivable niche and corner. In its way it’s certainly amusing and interesting enough. The crowd is exceptionally friendly, mostly of the middle to later age group, generally of the beer guzzler types. As for food, the menu is simplistic, basic and of course Irish. I’ve had their bangers and mash and their Shepherd’s pie, both of which were well prepared and exceptionally tasty. Indeed, one can’t go wrong with either choice. As for the food and the general ambiance, I can’t go Four Stars but I can go a Three Stars Plus as I do have to say that the place tends to be rather tediously boring and as such can’t really say I’m all that much a fan of it.
