Digging the new lair! The NOSMOKING thing is cool with me! I have been promised a new, gourmet, LATENIGHTMENU from the new owners who have adapted this landmark into a proper PUB. They both have Irish citizenship… Let’s hope they know what they are doing. Bartenders are cool as @#$%!

Decent food but the service is horrendous. Waited 15 minutes for the waitress to acknowledge us even though she walked by and made eye contact like five times. Those cheese stuffed breadsticks are fire, though.

Absolute shite! Why are they still open when they are allowing patrons to smoke inside while food(crappy) to be served!

The wife and I stopped in here for drinks and some food on our recent Fort Lauderdale trip and we both enjoyed the hell out of this place. Coming from the Northeast where smoking has been banned in bars for years now, it was a little weird and offputting at first to be in a place where people could still light up, but it really wasn’t that bad. It probably helped that it wasn’t overly crowded at the time, but maybe they have a decent filtration system, too? Either way, we got past it. Exactly the sort of mix of decent and divey that we both look for in a bar, the sort of place that looks a little worn around the edges, but it has character and you don’t feel like you’re going to get stabbed in the parking lot or a disease in the restroom. The juxtaposition of British pub and Pittsburgh Steeler fan bar was interesting, too(between this and Primanti Bros., I get the feeling Ft. Lauderdale has a decent-sized Pittsburgh ex-pat community). Excellent beer selection(any place I can get Hobgoblin is aces in my book), and the food was great. My wife enjoyed her chicken parm, and the shepherd’s pie I ordered was literally the best I’ve ever had in my life. If we find ourselves in the neck of the woods again, we’ll definitely go back.

I think a more accurate name for this joint to which I ducked in for a quick coldy and didn’t stay long, should be the«Wayward Smoker» as the stale second hand smoke smell chased me the hell outta there, toot sweet. And I’m no fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The canned beer was cold and I was served immediately. That’s it.

Don’t be fooled by the 4 stars. AWFUL! Worst clam chowder I’ve ever tasted. It was powdery. They allow smoking in the bar even though it’s illegal. Makes me wonder what goes on in the kitchen.

Draft beer was warm, was chastised by the owner and his pals because I played non-easy listening music and saw a cockroach scurry from the bathroom to the kitchen. Based on how filthy everything looks, I can only imagine the kitchen is right out of a horror movie. Enjoy this place at your own risk.

Besides this place being a Steelers Bar! Hands down a real hole in the wall… but I love places like this. Went on a Tuesday night, Tiffany was the bartender(she needs a high five and a raise), had some cold beers and some mozz sticks, which by the way were excellent. Cool stuff on the walls and the floors were clean. Shocker LOL Top 5 Best Bars in Lauderdale!

If you’re looking to do a dive bar without packing heat, this is your place. The bar/restaurant must have paid off a few city inspectors because they openly smoke in a restaurant that flaunts the anti-smoking statute. Folks, when you put down menus for a full restaurant, not just four bar snacks, food is not«incidental» to your main business. You’re in violation. Have people smoke outside, including your owners and bartenders. It cost you three meals and more drinks. We went up to Funky Buddha afterwards and hit the food truck.(The cancer corps go outside to smoke there. :D) The Wayward Sailor has a nice poker table running there too. I’m sure it’s on Indian land though ;) Oh! The bar? I had only one shot of vodka, so I know that the guy across the bar who looks like a dog was really a dog. Sitting at the bar. Must have been a relative of the health inspector who gets paid off to avoid this place. It’s your basic beer and low-rent well drink kind of establishment. It pulls an extra star because the service was friendly and the tables/restrooms were clean. If I have to go that length for generosity, you know how bad it was. If you’re quantity not quality drinker, and you don’t mind a little Marlborough Red topping to your burger, this is your joint.

Nothing like a bar where the barmaid smokes behind the bar. IF this frightens you… this is NOT the bar for you. This place reeks of smoke, like Las Vegas Casino Dirty Bar night. They could definitely use some better ventilation in here for sure. It also could use a deep down cleaning. So much so, I skipped adding a lime to my drink. I know it’s a sailor pub and I know there’s a risk of Scurvy… BUT I pick and choose my battles. No lime please, thanks. I’m actually SHOCKED they have food… eeks I mean eeks. I don’t think you could get me to eat here. They have old school tube TV’s BUT has about 8 different direct TV boxes… so there must be football watching that goes down here. They had the TV’s on but instead were playing Oldies music. When we arrived there was one table of ladies and about 3 older men at the bar. By the time we left(to head over to Hot & Soul in the same plaza) it was damn near packed. I don’t really need to go back anytime soon…

Definitely a dive bar. Way too smoky for me. The burger was good, but not good enough for me to come back and endure the dense fog of cigarette smoke while I’m eating. Love the kitschy décor.

Love this joint! Used to be a daytime regular but schedules change. Nice place in the heart of Fort Lauderdale. Great Happy Hour and nice beer selection. The staff is always nice and know their stuff. My favorite bartender is the daytime one Megan– A1 in my book. Full food menu. My favorite is the stir fry. but I have heard lots of good comments from the lunch crowd who eat here. Always a friendly crowd. Lots of TV with multiple choices of sports. Great juke box. But the best of all times to go is during a Steelers game. This place is located far to south to be as Pittsburgh! Love it and wear your Black and Gold!!!

The Wayward Sailor is the perfect dive bar. They have good food, decent prices and good servers/bar tenders. They have the best jalapeño poppers ever and the cajun chicken sandwich is pretty good too. It is in the same strip mall as the Culture Room and Penny Lane Music Emporium so there is always a chance of running into cool musician types.

Good food, great local bar. Staff are friendly too. They make their own chicken pot pie, shepard’s pie, carnitas, and chips and salsa. Ramon the cook makes superb carnitas.

The Wayward Sailor is a wonderful little laid back place that I have been coming to for years. The odd thing about it is that, at least every time I have been there, it hasn’t been all that crowded. That brings me to the question, as one would say in Pittsburghese: «How’s come?”** It certainly offers everything one could desire in a novel little bar scene. For drinks, it is full liquor along with a good selection of beers. I happen to be particular fond of various craft beers and ales. Though the craft selection isn’t large, it’s adequate. As for food, they have great Shepherd’s Pie, fish and chips, soups, bangers and mash as well as daily specials. The foods tend toward the Irish side of the food scale, though the place doesn’t really bill itself as being an Irish Bar. Instead, the ambiance of the place is clearly that of a sailor/fisherman type of hang. There I all kinds of various fishing and boating memorable covering the walls as well as the ceilings. Pictures fishing adventures coat the walls and the lighting is rather dark, giving a sort of dive-y sailor hang out feeling to it, but it is spotlessly clean and neither seedy nor dive-y. Oh, and now as to those **(asterisks) and Pittsburgh comment above. The Wayward Sailor is clearly a Pittsburgh fan club place, though I never hear anyone speak using a «yenz,» a «nebbie» a «how’s come,» a «jag off» or any of the other phrases or words so commonly used by a true Pittsburgher. I guess I’ll have to go to the Wayward when there is a Pittsburgh Steeler’s(in Pittsburgh Steeler’s is pronounced«Stelher’s») game, because I’m sure that I will hear some of it then. There is even a large sign on the front of the Wayward clearly indicating it to be a Pittsburgher venue. So, leave your Dolphin shirt at home.

This place is great to go after a show at the Culture Room. I love that most of the bands hang out here after the show. I got to play photo hunt with the drummer from one of my favorite bands. Good Times!

Great little salty pub in Fort Lauderdale. They’re a few doors down from the Culture Room, so the Wayward Sailor makes for a great pit stop before a show. They’re also a Pittsburgh Steelers bar, so if you’re a fan, you can go there and watch Pittsburgh play with your Steele City brethren.

This bar was everything I look for. Mostly spotless while still dark and slightly seedy… The bartender was excellent with a nice accent and a nice attitude. Enough beer variety to keep a snob interested but common enough to bring anyone with you. The mixed drinks I had were incredible. The Irish coffee we had was perfect. We also ate lunch while were there and it was amazing. Food was perfectly prepared, not one complaint about it. This bar was perfect!
