I took a leap of faith and headed to the McGinnis lake for my first lesson in waterskiing. The experience was amazing! Granted, trying something for the first time is always fun and exhilarating but Mrs. McGinnis added a lil something extra to the fun. She was a great instructor and it’s needless to say, we managed to stand before our lesson was over… not an easy feat.

My three friends and I had an incredible hour of waterskiing and wakeboarding. Set on a private lake, McGinnis Waterski got all of us up on skis/​board easily and quickly – even me, and I’m the most unathletic person I know. What really helped us learn was the boom that hangs off a boat. By learning on the bar and then progressing to the rope, we got to establish basic form first and then worry about the additional challenges the rope provides. Also, J.P. was an awesome teacher – really patient and encouraging, and he’s been running the business for 16 years. You can see the pricing on the website – we paid $ 165 for an hour, and it was totally worth it.
