Smokey Bones

I asked the waitress if I could have a small sample of the Brunswick stew because I am picky about my stew. The answer was no so I ordered pulled pork with BBQ beans and broccoli. The meat was room temperature at best. I sent the beans back because it was like eating candy, it was just way too sweet. All in all, lunch for $ 10 is a good deal.

Last month was my first visit to this restaurant and I was blown away. The service was top notch, our server brought extra napkins without being asked, made several perfect recommendations and was always available whenever we needed her. The ribs were perfect and the broccoli cheese soup was incredible, you could tell that it was fresh and not pre packaged and reheated.

I went into Smokey Bones today for the first time. A young women by the name of Lilian tended to us. Since we were newbies to Smokey Bones we obviously had a lot of questions and she had all the answers. She was really patient with us and was very knowledgeable about the menu, she recommended the the full rack of baby’s and she was right they were amazing, just like our server. Thank you Lilian for the great hospitality we will definitely be back for more ribs.

For chain BBQ food, I can’t complain. I was visiting family in Fort Lauderdale and wanted something quick but good. I had been here a few years back and remembered enjoying my meal. Service is decent and the choice of BBQ sauces on the table is pretty good as well. This place reminds me more of a sports bar than a BBQ joint. There is a large bar in the middle of the restaurant with plenty of televisions available for watching. Being from up north, we don’t really have a lot of good BBQ in my area. I decided to go with the Smokey Bones burger and my mom went with the brisket and rib combo. The burger was piled high with beef, pulled pork, onion rings, lettuce and tomatoe. It was too big to eat all at once, so I had to cut it up. For $ 11.50 it was well worth the price. My mom’s combo was $ 18.99. She seemed to really enjoy it as she licked the plate clean. I think the pricing is very reasonable for the amount of food provided, and I like the options you have with the combo meals.

A relevantly decent chain that is on its way northbound to my parish but one I often overlook since right next to the Polish Deli there’s a more homey bar-​b-​que place I’ve been meaning to try first. Well those plans changed when shopping with a co-​worker meant following her lead, and that led us to SB.
It’s a very clean chain restaurant that is really your average sports bar (TV’s everywhere) that happens to center its menu on bar-​b-​que. But unlike sports bars that have reasonably priced menu items to suit all wallets I would hazard, from a long look at the menu, this place is a bit pricey. You get bang to = your buck, my Cuban sandwich (with smoked turkey breast) was neither too small or too large, but don’t think there’s anything left to take home. The multitude (I believe 4 + ketchup makes 5) of sauces tableside are rather nice and you can mix and match for a variety of additional flavors.
Service is pretty good and the bathrooms are kept clean. So why 3 stars? I did get a SB card so I wouldn’t mind going back, but hailing from the Midwest and accustomed to the treats and treasures that are the «terroir» of Kansas City bar-​b-​que — this menu is pretty much flavored like it’s coming out of a can as opposed to something homemade — still, I might go back to put some points on the card and see where the rest of the menu takes me — there were some menu items that do indeed look worth the time and calories.

Had lunch with a friend sunday afternoon. We sat at the bar. The service was good and bartender very nice. We ordered the salmon because it’s always been good in the past. It tasted like it had been in the freezer to long. Not like it used be. Plus they increased the price on it. Don’t think i will be returning.

Though the food is always decent here, the kitchen can’t keep up during high volume times. We waited an hour for hamburgers at 715 pm! Food finally came at 815 pm and the orders were not quite to our specifications. Week nights may be a better bet, but you may want to avoid Fridays and Saturdays!!!

This place stinks. The service is HORRIBLE. We were ignored the entire time by the waitress who was more interested in socializing with friends, and I was never offered a refill on my drink. This place is legit run by teenagers.
The food was mediocre at best, definitely not worth going out of my way for. Not worth the price.
Will be skipping this place forever.

This is not the first time here, and all the times I choose after a lot of try in another places. Now I need to change my schedule when o need eat. I have a different schedule, working until 12 am most of the days. So thanks for this place. Food was very good. But more than good food. I love the employers here. Tonya Li thanks, for the second time I have the best attention. Very proud of you. You rock girl.

My pulled pork sandwich sucked. I’m sorry, but the pork was flavorless, not even hot and the sandwich was really small. No slaw on top, no nothing but a small scoop of dull pulled pork inside a small bun wrapped in paper.
Want great BBQ food? Then do NOT come here. The coleslaw was awful. Too much mayo or water or? Funky flavor too. All in all, a really lousy quality meal. My father even said, «these ribs are OK… Not as good as the last time».
So maybe we came on an ‘off night’? Want quality BBQ? Go to Red Cow, Jacks, Jenkins or another top notch BBQ spot that’s NOT a chain.

I haven’t been in this place for over a decade and for my surprise the menu got improved, love the choices of pick one, two or three meats. The pulled pork was excellent! The BBQ sauces excellent ! The smoked turkey very delicious! Another cute add on were the tablets with games which allows some cool fun family time with our daughter while waiting for the food!

I am not gonna lie I did not expect to like this place as I usually do not gravitate to chain restaurants. When we arrived we were greeted immediately then our server took over and she was super nice, informative and helpful. To start off we ordered a couple of tall beers and for appetizers we ordered the smoked wings. The wings were juicy, flavorful and delicious. For entre I had the seasonal prime rib with a side of steamed broccoli and a loaded baked potato, my husband had the baby back ribs with a side of mac and a loaded baked potato. The service was excellent and the food was total comfort food. The ambiance was casual and relaxed. They close at 2am so if you are craving some late night munchies this would be a good place too. They offer great happy hour selections. Will definitely be back.

My wife and I have been coming here for 5 years! We live and work in Pompano. The savings of $ is SPECTACULAR by their point system… The food and service is great! I want to thank John the General Manager for his gracious attitude of making sure that we are well taken care of! And we were! Thanks John:)

I wish there was a way to give a place minus star rating. All I can say is if you like BBQ that is super greasy and has no flavor at all then this would be the place for you. I am not used to leaving bad reviews as I can usually find something I like, but the service here was insulting. We came here at 2:30 in the afternoon for a late lunch, they had about 4 tables. There where 2 servers, MGR, and bar tender. When my food came out and I took a bite it was so bland I could not eat it. I wanted to simple send it back and order something else. I kept trying to get the servers attention, the bar tenders attention, and they looked at me but ignored me. 25 min later I got up and got the manager. It was at this point to late to order any other food as my guest had finished theirs.

Felt like some BBQ last night and went to Bones. Was greeted as you entered and the restaurant was not crowded, probably due in part to the heavy rain and traffic. Waiter came right over and we ordered two draft beers. Beer was served pronto, waiter suggested some appetizers but we declined. Ordered up the make your own platter with the smoked turkey, pulled pork and beef brisket with two sides. Food was served quick and hot, the smoked turkey and pork did not have any BBQ sauce on it so I asked the waiter for the same BBQ sauce that was on the brisket, he pointed to the end of the table and said the BBQ sauce was there and use that. There was 4 different squeeze bottles with different color tops and not labeled. So I played where’s Waldo with the sauces until I found one I wanted to use. Both meals were good and filling. Will return in the future if I am in the Ft. Lauderdale area.

Great service the food was OK nothing to crazy about.

Been coming here for about the last 6 months or so 2 to 3 times a week beer specials are good bartenders are nice food is subpar.
Last visit did it for me. ordered their chicken salad with fried chicken. Plate comes out with 5 pieces of tiny chicken and that’s it.
30 years in the restaurant business I know what the proper amount of chicken looks like on a salad.
Sent it back and got no word from a manager. That’s it.
I’ll spend my money elsewhere!

We were in town for a wedding. An it was a nice treat to have smokey bones. Honestly prob the only Chain BBQ restaurant Jo and I enjoy.

not even worthy of one star. Besides food from ribs to french fries and even the «steamed broccoli» there was far too much salt.

Late night eats!
I don’t usually like eating at chains let alone reviewing one but I had never been to a smokey bones before and it was a new discovery for my midnight dinner.
Since I usually don’t get home from work till after 11pm I’m always looking for good late night options and I saw smokey bones has a special menu from 11pm to 130am with some great options and drink specials.
The service was… corporate chain restaurant aka «welcome to chili’s», and the food was ok, but nothing really wowed me other than the late hours and cheap prices. The wings were pretty good and the loaded fries were awesome. Pulled pork needed some work.
I’ll be back. But only after midnight. If it’s normal business hours I’ll go to red cow.
