My boyfriend loves coming here! We either come to eat or drink or both! I’ve had the waxy burger and the Mahi Mahi tacos and there both amazing. I didn’t really care for the fish and chips but they always have amazing food specials! The place is always busy no matter what time and it has a nice ambience. If you go make sure to ask for Bobby! Amazing bartender and will take very good care of you!

I used to love this place. The last three times I have been it has been disgraceful. I kept telling myself maybe it was a one off, but now I can safely say I will never go back. The service, food, and beer are garbage. Last night I waited 30 minutes for a menu after being rudely told by the waitress to wait a minute, then she served two other tables who arrived after me. My understanding is that this is a locals place, and those people get priority. Shame, it used to be great.

I am almost never disappointed in an English or Irish Pub. I love the Pubs of the Kingdom. I love the food, I love the kinds of crowds that gather there, I love the kinds of guys and girls who like to work at Irish Pubs, and I think a higher percentage of patrons«get lucky» at these Pubs than any other type of vanilla bar or club. English and Irish Pubs ROCK! Waxy O’Connor’s not so much; Waxy O’Connor’s does not rock. Waxy O’Connor’s failed on every front. Their food was disappointing, the customer service was poor, and they failed to create and environment conducive to meeting, talking, and drinking with strangers. Even their drinks were disappointing. Whoever heard of an Irish Pub that could not pull of at least a passing Fish and Chips? The Fish and Chips was very heavily breaded, and the breading had little flavor other than perhaps sugar. There were large pockets of air between the fish and the breading. This Fish and Chips was so disappointing that I told my husband that I am giving up on Fish and Chips for a while. Jeff had a sesame crusted seared tuna steak. He said it was gray and cooked through rather than seared. He would not let me try a bite, because he said it seemed a little long in the tooth — probably why they cooked it through. He did not want to risk us both getting sick when we only had one hotel toilet. He did not get sick. Waxy did not poison us, they just disappointed us. Our waitress was disengaged, and seemed preoccupied with some type of personal problem that had her upset. I must cut her some slack. Anyone can have an off night. And I cannot really blame Waxy’s for the crowd. A bar can try to build a fun, happy set of regulars, but in a high traffic tourist area like this there is little a bar can do to keep out aggressive, frustrated, rude single males, and this place was foul them this night. Something that is in the control of the bar is pouring a decent drink. The drinks were almost undrinkable from the amount of bar solution on and in the glasses when our drinks were made. I do not like bar solution and believe it should never be used — wash bar glasses in a dishwasher like any other glass, and I think that this is becoming more the rule everywhere accept true non-food serving bars and lunges. So, Waxy O’Connor’s failed us on food, costumer service, and drinks. I LOVE and English Pub. Waxy O’Connor’s, I did not love.

The staff pretty much ignored me. and the food was not good. The fries were soggy in grease and the burger had no flavor — dried out meat. I don’t think they seasoned anything on my plate. I was in town on business so I just choked down what I ordered and left

We stopped here at 10 pm after a day of travelling and at that point we didn’t care where we ate — we just wanted food! I was pleasantly surprised by this pub. I wanted something fresh so I had the chipotle shrimp and avocado salad, which was a large portion size with generous amounts of shrimp and avocado. Other people at my table had the potato soup, fish and chips, and pulled pork sandwich, which all got good feedback as well.

Great service, good food, outdoor seating with tvs! I watched Ronda Rousey get her ego smashed by Holly homes here. Great place to watch ufc fight, not too crowded!

We went here on Thanksgiving evening, it was packed because everything else was closed. Don’t order the Rubin sandwich. The corned beef was dry and stringy, the cheese wasn’t melted and the bread was dry and not grilled. Do yourself a favor and go to Cracker Barrel for a Rubin. Saving grace, the bar tender was good.

This was by far the absolute WORST place I have ever been to. DONOTGOHERE! The place was disgusting and the staff was terrible and rude. What a disgusting establishment. I have never been so offended in my life.

Reminded me of my favorite hometown bar. Bobby the bartender is great, personable and originally from NY so we got along from the start. The Reuben was good, fries were better and the beer selection is endless.

This is an Irish pub like I’m the pope. There’s not much more to say but Unilocal won’t let me stop now. Don’t have the firecracker shrimp whatever you do.

Bordering on Top notch but failing in so many ways only the good foods saves this from a poor rating. Copy of a Irish /British type pub with variety of indoor seating and outdoor seating on this muggy night. Nice touch of misters outside to keep everyone cool as they could be so to speak. 6 of us seated outside and either nobody checks or nobody cares but the 2 persons working tonight serving are in the weeds… It is NOT overly busy but getting any type of service from drink orders to simple menu’s is a chore… In short service was terrible all evening no matter who tried to come out and help out. Good selection of beers, drafts ales etc and all were cold when presented. Nice array of whiskey as well some not found locally so that is a plus also. Food itself was actually VERYGOOD… Some Steak Sandwiches were ordered with an abundance of peppers onions and mushrooms making it a nice and fork sandwich bread did not hold up but good and tasty. Fish Mahi taco were good for what they were… Homemade Chili excellent as was the beef Stew made European style… Hand Cut Fries on sides were top notch. All and all pretty good not withstanding the NOSHOWSERVICE. Perhaps they were understaffed… because food was good enough for a repeat.

This place is pretty bad… my friend and I walked in and weren’t sure if we were supposed to wait to be seated or just pick a spot. The bartender looked up at us after being enthralled in his cellphone for a minute or 2. We were told we could sit anywhere. My friend ordered a salad and fish and chips — I got seafood chowder and shepherds pie but I asked if I could have cheese on top. As soon as we received our appetizers the waitress informed us that she forgot to put the salad in so the food was ready and asked if she could bring it out. I said we literally just got the soup and salad and would like to eat that first. The soup had a lot of rosemary twigs that I had to pull out. Also, there was an overwhelming amount of rosemary. These were whole pieces, not chopped, so it was noticeable when trying to eat. About 10 minutes later she brings the food out and mine literally has 2 kraft singles melted on top with a burned center.(See pic). The peas were canned and mushy… the meat was dry and very tangy from too much vinegar… the mashed potatoes were very dry, more like they scooped out a baked potato and threw it on top. Also a lot of twigs in this… The fish and chips were«blah» according to my friend. We won’t be back… The Field is far better and just a few miles away.

Walked in and we were not sure if we should dear ourselves or not. There was a hostess spot but no one there. Eventually the bar tender told us to have a seat wherever. The first waitress showed up and asked what we wanted to drink and that came out quick but incorrectly. Then I new waitress came up and I had to ask her to fix it. Then later I asked for a diet drink and it came out flat. Then the old waitress came back and I had to ask her for a new soda. So I guess there are only two waitresses tonight and we had them both. They were kinda awkward and not too welcoming. The food was really good and has a good price. The place is laid back And pretty relaxing. So it is a good place to eat.

‘Some kind of wholesale soda and frozen rectangular steak cubes.’ To kick off my dining experience at Waxy’s, I simply wanted to know if they carried Pepsi or Coke as I dislike Pepsi. I was told ‘we have some kind of wholesale soda.’ Ok thanks for the honesty lol. I proceeded to order the steak sandwich listed at a $ 13 price tag. ‘Cooked to order’ was noted on the menu, so I told the server ‘medium please.’ Following a long chuckle, I was told it comes only one way… pre-prepared in ‘little rectangles.’ Uhhh ok thanks again for the honesty. So I ordered a Waxy burger instead and some of that special wholesale soda! I got the distinct impression the bluntly honest server was telling me not to eat their food. I did eat the burger and it was so so, but I would be cautious eating here. After all, the cooks and servers know the true quality of food product in their kitchen. So drinks only at this Irish Pub which does have a cool feel. Sporting events like weekly UFC fights are featured here as well. But if you’re itchin for a bite to eat, steer clear!

Gives you the feel of a true northern pub restaurant. Many different Ales on draught and iced tea too. Extensive food menu with wonderful potato leek soup.(Which is very similar to the classic chilled vichyssoise.) So come on in and will be transported to another place in time. A fantastic place for friends, darts, and libations.

I popped in here before an event last night to get my cider on. Ha, and to be in the company of some lovely Unilocalers as well. The Irish pub is welcoming and I’m sure there have been some drunken times had here by many. Luckily, I stuck with one and called it quits. Maybe next time it’ll be different ;)

The fish was crispy and the portion was very generous. Fries(chips) were natural chunky. Peas were a big let down… they were clearly frozen and reheated. I love mushy peas and I am in general a pea fan. No love was shown to these poor poor peas. Service was shaky to start but then the lady bartender was relieved of duty by a much more friendly and competent gentleman.

4.5 stars. This place is great. They’ve always got international sports on the TVs, and lots of international patrons in the bar. Totally unpretentious, which I love. They have a great covered outdoor area with TVs and ceiling fans and a water mister thingy, which is cool. The only drawback of being out on the patio is the noise from the street. All the food I’ve tried so far has been solid. Looking forward to many more visits!
